Caves of Qud is a colossal and colossally weird post-apocalyptic roguelike. This game has been in development for a very long time and I've been thinking about doing a series on it basically since the channel began. Now seems like a good time for a long, weird adventure, so let's get in here and try not to die before we even get to the caves.

Espers = ESPer = psychic. It was a pretty popular term for a bit and then seems to have been almost completely forgotten by everywhere except Japan for some reason.

You're doing great! I would recommend that you make your own character. Random can sometimes be super hard if you are still learning the game. Cheers!
Edit:
One more thing! When you travel in the World map screen it is like fast traveling. One tile on the world map is 3x3 area (so 9 tiles). Sometimes it is good to explore the land by just walking off screen in some direction. I always wonder around Joppa and hunt low level enemies to gather equipment and level up at least to level 3 or 4 before starting some big quests.
If you have some questions, just ask! I see a lot of us here in the comments have a few hundred hours in this game :D
Don't overlook the 'Sprint' ability which does.. what it says on the tin. Very useful.
Talk to Mehmet for a good beginner quest. Note also that when you get the first quest from Argyve he mentions a location which is also good for beginner explorers.
Just bought this game based on the first episode, having loads of fun so far!
If you haven't noticed by now fresh water is the currency you trade with. It is usually better to carry trade goods with you instead because water weighs a lot.
Trade goods usually sell for the same price you buy them at so if you find any copper nuggets in a traders inventory you can take them along instead. This isnt really important right now though.
Still loving this series. Glad to see a youtube who does what they want despite knowing it won't be the most popular thing in the world XD
The game is way difficult but fun especially once you get a handle on the various starting situations and craft your own characters.
This is the perfect 2nd CoQ episode:
1. Loot the three empty houses in Joppa blind. Make sure doors are shut.
2. Alt key is your friend
3. Early artifacts found in Joppa, except tonics and cells, should go to Argyve AT LEAST TWICE for exp and progress
4. The east of Joppa with 3 red circles is a great place to start.
6. 'space' at a campfire will make food without consuming resources
7. Water is currency. The drams at the bottom of the trade window are the comparitive values.
There ya go, a good start with no spoilers.

Great vid SB! I’m loving the series so far and am ready to see how far your character makes it this time. One thing though you might want to buy some more ammo for your revolvers.

47:00 If anyone's interested, Primal Spirit shiitake jerky is in american stores. I used to get some with a friend on our trips to the pub. I say this thinking beetle would result in a product comparable to shiitake.
49:00 Of Toast and toastiness: "Fire" seems to me to be hard-coded into this game's universe (and its presentation) as mapped solely to the attribute "Gun". Also, yes, toastiness is quite the qualifier.
I'm bout to binge watch this whole series.

I just reroll until there's an electrobow in Joppa. Really makes early game easier.
I like the familar dnd style game play
Guns and high agility is a pretty good thing to randomly roll into when you're still figuring stuff out. In my roguelike experience, ranged builds are just way safer in general.
