Companies as big as pokémon commonly steal art from another all the time. Because they can A back off the originator or easily lawyer up whenever they feel like. I feel like its hard to tell the line between inspiration, parody, and theft without the creators full thoughts behind their process. The game feels like a satire of pokemon/ monster taming genre. It takes some ideas that come from it (forced animal labor and warfare) and dial it up to 9-10. Did space balls, deadpool, and scary movie "rip off" starwars, deathstroke and a bunch of horror movies? Yeah, kind of, but i don't think anyone is calling those art theft or immoral

Let me give you a good example... people complain that the Pal Anubis is somehow a ripoff of the Pokemon Lucario. But if you look up images of Anubis (the Egyptian god) online, you'll see that it's a lot closer to actually representing the god it's named for (right down to the blue and gold color scheme) than Lucario, which kind of resembles Anubis (the god). It's a weak argument. Eikthyrdeer more closely resembles Eithynir from Norse mythology than any Pokemon. Firefoxes are from Finnish folktales. Fox like humanoids are based on Kitsune from Japanese folklore. Just about any anthropomorphic animals have roots in folktales and mythologies, and no company can own the right to prevent others from basing characters off those.
i hate whenever people show images of pokemon and pals side by side, and say , this is the same as pokemon. NO ITS NOT, There are 1054 pokemons ofcourse some designs will look similar. Lets take for example vixxy and evee , they are close to one another at the first glance, but they have different models diferent details etc. I mean Vixxy looks more like a dog while evee is more like a cat with fur.

I initially brought a switch for smash bros and pokemon, and while I love smash bros, the Pokemon games didn't interest me at all l, I just felt like in this day and age the game should be offering a lot more. Big game companies being astonished that a formula that is 10-20 years old doesn't work anymore, it's like the lead developers don't even play games, they just make them.
There is no problem, the gameplay loop and progression is satisfying, everyone that tried it would understand why it has so many players. The only ones bashing the game is those that really hate survival crafting games (most of them are prejudiced against the genre because there are so many out there, some bad, some good), or the ones that never played and don't even know what it's about or how it plays and compare it to pokemon when it clearly is not like a pokemon game.

I don't understand the criticism. Pokemon started by "Aggressively referencing" monsters from DragonQuest, which I'm sure stole them from someone else. There's a reason why a lot of high fantasy consist of dwarves and elves, you could make anything in a magical land, but having familiar creatures as a frame of reference helps to not overwhelm the consumer. Not everything has to be wholly original, you give some familiarity and then put your own twist on the formula.

This is my exact feelings of hogwarts legacy. It's not for me as I don't like Harry potter however I was glad to see that it was an amazing game and had huge success
This is a good video, BUT we cannot deny that the Pokémon company had this coming for YEARS now! I haven’t played a FUN Pokémon game since diamond and pearl. Yes x and y were ok, arceus, and sword and shield introduced that open world 3D style, but it wasn’t fun. Who tf actually likes gigamax? Not to mention, when’s the last time any Pokémon game has been on sale? Sword and shield came out years ago and it’s STILL $59.99. That more than anything is hurting Pokémon. You can call the designs theft all you want, but it’s obvious these people were fans of Pokémon and drew major inspiration from it. We borrow and steal as a society, it’s done in music everyday. In the words of one of the greatest artists of all time “Good artist borrow, great artist steal” - Pablo Picasso.

When someone has a monopoly on this type of game genre, it's pretty difficult to be original. Especially since Pokémon has been out for so long.
