The fact that I’m literally not into business like *at all* , but I’m still into watching Matthias and listening to how amazingly he wants to keep Hi5 going. Also listening to his vision and his POV, is just amazing.

Matt is a great leader. He’s the kind of guy who works for a work environment that looks out for his employees, and he wants to make content that they enjoy making that isn’t just following the crowd. Seeing him change his company’s goals so that they’re follow what he and his employees believe is the best, even when they’re scared about the outcome, is something to admire. And sharing it with the public is even bolder. Keep it up Matt! Enjoying that you’re keep things open to get feedback and so we can benefit from your decisions too :)

As a creator that has taken time off from UA-cam to reflect, I had to come to terms with myself that my channel needed to change. Change was something that was hard for me at the time cause I got so engrossed with staying in a safe bubble of what was the norm for gaming channels. Making 10, 15, to even 20 minute episodic videos of a game in the stereotypical 'Let's Play' format became something that wasn't fun but, what felt to me, necessary for channel growth. This came to a point where I realized I was already in a very overpopulated pool of the 'Let's Play' genre and needed to take a set back and realize what I really wanted to do. As many people will say change is something that can be hard to do when you have stayed in what you consider a safe bubble for a long period of time. It has taken me a good amount of time to realize my mission of what I wanted to do and now what I have to do is to create the mission statement to help keep me going in the direction I want to go.
For those that might be or are remaining in their safety bubbles (on UA-cam): It is okay to be scared of change, it is a natural human response, but it doesn't have to be hard. On the road of change there may be bumps, potholes, and cracks, but never let those stop you from your vision.
To Matthias: Thank you for all your amazing insight and knowledge. Keep up the amazing work and best wishes and luck to you and all of Hi5

People think they hate change but often what they resist is unexpected or forced change.
Winning the lottery is a change. So is getting married. Most would agree these are good changes.
Forced change is a whole different issue. Loosing a job for instance is a bad change.
How we manage changes is the key to how we end up. We may never actively embrace a job loss but if we turn that loss into an opportunity for transformation things will be so much better. Can you use a job loss to spur you to finally finish that degree? Is it the “kick in the pants” you needed to finally get you to start your passion business? How can we use this negative change as an opportunity to turn it good?
Change is the only constant in life. What defines us is how we manage change and how we use it.
Stay Gold Matthias. The road may be bumpy but it leads to greatness.

As Hi5 has grown over the years I've always been a fan. Sure sure I was bummed when Rekt went under and then eventually BU but... as I said before as bummed as I am when a series I love ends think of it like your favorite book series. you can always revisit it! All good things must eventually end.

I am so thankful for how Matt keeps us updated on what's happening at the studio and how community based he is. I think probably 85% percent of the people I have subscribed to on UA-cam really don't think much about their audience so much except for their likes, views, and subs. Matt however has done a ton of stuff to make his audience feel involved and I just think about how amazing that is

@@AskMatthias I think one of my smallish critiques about 863 (and I know this isn't the 863 channel haha) but in some of the last videos in the series, people like Woods or "Nelson" started using stronger language. As a writer, I know that those kinds of things create more character and whatnot, but both of my sisters have unsubscribed because they were uncomfortable with the language. And I know that two measly subscribers probably don't mean much, but I do know that they were very committed to the story of 863 and it was kind of disappointing.
Anyway! That has nothing to do with what this video was about but yeah XP

    • @AskMatthias

    • @katsartisticclutter
      @katsartisticclutter 3 роки тому

The Hell and Damns (Which I know in this day in age isn’t really considered language) but yeah. Coming from one viewer it probably isn’t really important. I know you have to do what makes the majority of your audience happy, but then again how many people are gonna come banging on your door asking for more language 😅

    • @AskMatthias
      @AskMatthias  3 роки тому +1

Honestly I don’t think anyone is asking for language like that. I’ll talk to the team to see how we feel about it. Personally I don’t need it in the content, it doesn’t really serve any purpose that a better word might not also achieve. Thanks for the feedback!

Matt, The subtle shift in the vision is an accurate one. A compelling and believable story that lets you see yourself actually in that scenario or moment. If anything IMHO, Project 863 was the catalyst that brought that realization into play. Far too many people were getting lost in the story and taking things way too far when in reality, they should've been finding themselves in the story. I appreciate the clarity and transparent approach you have taken within the company and community as a whole. You've come so far over the years as a creator and as a role model in a sense to some of your younger viewership and I couldn't be more excited for what the future holds for you and the team at Hi5.
    Best Regards,
    Brandon

I’ve been subscribed to your channel since your video of “tweets in real life” I believe, or before that even. And since then, I’ve been inspired to try new things, take on new challenges in life. Doing things I never thought I could do. It turned my life around. Seeing things in a different perspective and realizing that it’s not that difficult. Life is too short to be stressed out because of a little problem. But memories live on forever, so why not make the best memory? Why not have the best stories to tell and pass on for generations to come? Turning stories into legends. I’m tired of the all the fairy tales stories they have. I want the vision of truth. Which is why I’ve been subscribed to this channel for a long time. I see a very successful and happy family. Thank you for everything.

Between yesterday and today, I had another thought about a possible change to the vision/mission. Instead of it being "We tell stories that change hearts" it could be "We tell stories that INSPIRE a change/transformation in (whatever)". Any change in an individual isn't automatic. From my personal experiences, when I fully accepted Christ into my life, I wasn't immediately made the person I am now. My heart suddenly wasn't changed or softened. I didn't feel any different for a long time. The transformation I went to become the person I am today was *inspired* by what I read and learned about in the Bible. Inspired change, to me means that people *want* that change. They see something in the story, and realize that they are lacking something within themselves. I wanted to change the person I was to who I am. I didn't want to remain cold and unforgiving. We get inspired creatively all the time, so why can't we inspire change in people?
I don't think change should be forced or inferred because we think we're telling a good story. We should strive to inspire change with our story, not infer that it will change people. I'm not saying you think that at all, but striving to inspire a change rather than expecting a change leads to more results.

I like the “We tell stories that Spark Growth.” Just because like you said before, we’re not necessarily escaping, we may hide out there for a little bit. But it’s to motivate us to grow and to face the real world when we are finished. It helps us understand those fundamental morals of life that will prepare us for the future and that is character growth. Which is why I like “Spark Growth” best.

Stories can be like abstract paintings where the artist or the creator has faith in the audience and passes on the responsibility of understanding the context to the viewers. It can be traditional where the artist does the whole hand holding and explaining.
Now depending on how tightly integrated your viewers are the first one if done right can be a joy to watch like somewhat you did with the key series . The involvement matters. View might very be different but if you have a predetermined ending and you can guide the views of the audience in engaging manner. As a creator that's job well done. So for me it's better if you say story that speaks for itself and draws you to be a part of it. Hope this helps

The worlds that matter to both of us is worth discovering. What about using vision to believe and understand. Understand how to believe. (It sounds like I'm saying random good words) but I truly feel that using these words can have true meaning and impactful and doesn't have to go that deep. (Unless you want to for your vision Matthias).
Mission is something to create, meaning expression and exploring creativity within the sore (rise) purpose. (Maybe heartful passion?). What I'm trying to say that mission must feel like it has to have a creative discovers and space. Space means never stop storytelling and storyshowing without getting "lost". Giving true trust and being real within the story. I feel like stories must breathe since others are involve in the mission.
Hope you understand to believe visions are worth rising at a believable way, therefore "Finding" meaning for the mission(s).

I was talking to someone about this today the concept of less is more.
Have you considered 'We tell stories that matter"?
As you were talking I was thinking why do I enjoy the creators I watch, it's all about being able to identify with the subject. I do not have to be anything like the subject, but in some way, I could see myself as the subject.
I always struggled with explaining that what we dislike most (hate) in others are actually aspects that we dislike about outrselves, but chose not to see.
I am coming to the conclusion that what we enjoy in others are assets in us that we are blind too.
I need to hash this out more and I am only writing this to put it out there, sometimes just writing something is all that it takes to start the seed. You still have to fertilize and care for the seed, but the first step is to get it into fertile soil.

It's quite a nice sight to see Matt putting this sort of balance in their company as well as in their actions. Definitely a really great way to move onwards. I do feel that what is said in the video, if applied as it stands, won't really be effective. How I saw it was that Hi5 *will* engage and captivate an audience with passion, and an audience of those looking to ignite that drive within themselves. However, Hi5 *might not* captivate the "general" audience. Sure, not everything can be covered, but I do see that the company has opportunities to include that part of the audience as well. Looking forward to the future of Hi5.

I think that’s something we got wrong in the past. We tried to make something for everyone. The problem with trying to please everyone, is really you end up pleasing no one. “Everyone” or the majority isn’t a single person. The closer we focus what we’re doing, the better our stuff will be for a smaller demographic, which is actually more powerful in the end.

I know it hasn’t been easy because leading to vision can means losing Good people who didn’t align or had their own vision.. so you part ways creating growing pains.. which isn’t easy because you care about them but as you let the vision guide you will stay on path to mission. Keep up the good work it’s not easy but following the vision and finding a team to build that vision with is the best and I am excited for what comes next at Hi5 as you guys pursue and build towards the future pursuing the vision and living the mission. Building one brick at a time #BECAUSE

So excited to see more content on this channel. Been following Hi5 Studios since they first moved into Orange Base and I find it inspiring to see how Matt is so transparent about his company and shares both his accomplishments and failures and uses them as a lesson. I find myself more interested in the inner running’s of the studio then the studio content itself.

Hello Matthias I like what you were saying about changing hearts with the content that you make. I myself want to make my music to change the hearts and minds of my audience because I want to make people feel good and know that they have Jesus to back them up in anything they go through. You could talk about how getting people can change their heart by the content you make. I want to know more on how to make music to bring people out of there worse selves and bring God's purpose to their lives and show them that itd more than anything the world has to offer.

I’m a business and engineering student with a love for UA-cam and this channel is absolutely fascinating to me. I think hi5 studios is awesome and I really appreciate you sharing so much of the inner workings with us. I’ve recently gotten into D&D and I’m finally starting to learn just how powerful and immersive a story can be when you develop a world and involve everyone :)) (side note: I think a D&D campaign would work really well with the hi5 studios goals and mission)

I said this with the first video, but I think that Matt is doing an amazing job of changing us forever because we have seen him change. I watched Mathias from the very beginning, and still love everything he does. We see the family friendly and funny content change into a more mature studio. We have seen hi 5 evolve and grow with us. Thanks for the video Matt!

As a budding creator myself (trying to come up with my gameplan right now), I would recommend the following...
1 For the vision statement - if you change the word "lost" to "find", you also change the "within" to something like "engrossed in".
Without only the "lost" section being changed, I feel like it gives the feeling that viewers can relate to the stories when in actuality, I think you are trying to say that the viewers become immersed to the point that they feel like they are part of the story.
(I'm still watching the video so I'll add more as I go if necessary)

As a business major about to graduate. I understand where matt is coming from. I also want to create change by creating solutions. But you need to reach a form of understanding in order to get a solution.
I do not know how I feel about the word "change" in the mission statement. I does not sit right with because it is not always possible to change others. But I did like the idea of "We tell stories to spark growth" or something related to that.

Hey Matt, just rewatched the new upload. Great job on fixing the choppyness. The video definitely seems to flow smoother then before. Don’t know if you meant to leave this part in but at 6:01 the edited in “have” is still there lol! But otherwise the video itself was definitely a much better quality then before. Thank you for taking the time to fix it and repost! - Kris

So strange, because the new program I’m using, I fixed that have and re-uploaded! I have no idea why it’s still there. The program I use is descript and I was playing around with “overdub” a really cool feature, but for some reason I can’t get rid of that “have” lol

@@AskMatthias hmmm that’s very strange. Well one thing you might be able to take solice in is if you used it anywhere else in this video it wasn’t noticeable at all. Is this the first video you used the new program on? How do you like it so far?

Does anyone else get StoryFire vibes? Better hire McJuggerNuggets! 😂 But no, seriously, good on you, Matt. Stories need to be told to help people get inspired to tell their own stories. Hence why literature and media are both so popular in their own right. LeVar Burton taught us all as children to escape into the world of reading imaginative stories, inspiring many to create their own worlds for people to get lost into in order to find themselves. That might make zero sense to you, but it makes sense to me. I'm behind every decision you make for the growth of Hi5 Studios, even though I am not an employee. Thank you for sharing some exclusively inside methods of communication to your staff with us; to tell the truth, I feel like some of us viewers may be able to help you guys out, too. If you need an opinion, please let us know, as always. To Matt and the staff of Hi5... (and everyone reading this comment for that matter) Stay curious.
