Dude , you are making the world a better place to be. I always wanted to produce Reggae & Dub and didn't know where to start. Then i came across your video searching for DNB/Reggae on YT, you are an Angel send from above to free us , at least you freed me :) , i stopped looking cause i found you. Thank you , Thank you ...Thank you million times Keep up the good work
Love this. I've been wanting to make dub forever, but without going down the lazy path of simply dumping dub loops into a DAW. This helped me create a track but also taught me dub basics, as well as one or two Logic tricks. Wonderful. Thank you dancetech!
Nothing like that reggae bass line... it just keep you. Stepping! Then you end up rocking! Like you dropping. Then you just pull-up and come again selector!
part-1 is uploading now. It shows all the stuff to setup the kit and a basic drum mix with setups for the aux's for the reverb & echo, grouping the toms etc, and it shows a classic One-Drop beat.
+dancetech Can you do a DanceHall and HipHop tutorial please? I love these tutorials by the way. They've been of great help. Thanks a lot. Please reply
+Nyran6ix Music i used to do alot of hip hop back in the day. even got deal offers from ruthless & profile (these were run dmc & nwa's labels at the time) so yes... if i can find time (dont get paid for this)
I started out with the first video yesterday, having so much fun following your steps! I had a great time and I just finished studying it! I am now eager to continue tomorrow evening with this 2nd lesson!! Thank you so much for sharing your hard gained knowledge! And knowing all these things will made me finally understand what music production is all about. So much fun! (already subscribed of course!)
cheers, there's almost no tutorials out there on this topic which is why i do this. Here's the full playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLr9cxz51sxbwGLgTYsvIZdg-_nIUvz1D-.html
Hey, thank you for your tutorials, they are great and you are a good teacher, love the way you say "Yeah?" in the one drop video !! Ahah I got a question, i'am working on ableton, and i don't succeed to do your trick with the open hat and a closed hat to make the open hat shorter, does any sample can close the open hat or only closed hat ? Also, doyou know if this trick works also on ableton ? [RESOLVE] I found that your drum rack you can click on "Chain list" and chose to choke one sample when another is triggered, Cool tips !
Hi mate. I really enjoy your videos. I'm now with black slate working as a beatmaker/producer.what a coincidence. Lol after watching the amigo video 100 times .met the drummer at screwfix. can you make a video on snares .?on a rubadub snare like a Gregory Isaacs night nurse.
hey hey thanks for the help! I'm wondering if you can tell me what the instrument is on the pad used in this video ( ua-cam.com/video/43swMZLFBEA/v-deo.html ) at the 1:00 mark. please and thank you x
Oh mate these tutorials are AMAZING :) Thank you for introducing me to these fabulous techniques.. I'm a huge Scientist fan :) I've been making tunes all weekend! I can't work out how to 'dub up' certain sections of the tunes though.. ie. introduce the reverb and echo to specific moments in the song without applying it to the whole tune - is there a way to automate just those moments within Logic? Or is that something I need hardware kit to achieve?
Thanks! --- "introduce the reverb and echo to specific moments in the song without applying it to the whole tune" - for that you use sends/returns from channels or busses, or inserts on (usually) buses for things like eq cuts. I'd better do a video on it because many people request this
ok thank you.. I begin in logic pro and i dlike to create the riddim like you. It seems to be easy with you. If you have a moment i dlike to know few things: -the sounds of "unmixed drums" are not the same in my version (the kick, snare and hh are very good but i have not the same) -you have the name of yours instruments in timeline(down), me i have just the piano, how do you do that? -i don't have brush tool Like i said i begin with logic and idlike to have the good relex I m sorry for my english Simon
I have another question, you ever come across an EQ that can be put into the Mac system or the browser? I have problems with headphones. The Senheiser HD-190 am wearing are useless because of artificial bass-boost. Can not hear normal speaking. My very old Senheiser headphones got one channel out of action. Headphones don't have EQ, OS don't have EQ, Browsers don't have EQ, YT don't have EQ. Sounds like a total miss out.
+stephen mcferran what? the tempo should be slower than 68bpm and the kik should playing quarter beats?...i think you are confused & i suggest you try it on your own sequencer. Even at the 68bpm in the video if the kick plays quarters you get a super slow kick beat which in no way even comes close to stepper tempo.

***** they do exist but i think most require soundflower - a free little audio driver - to route audio to the equaliser.
***** search for 'eq for osx' or 'free equaliser for mac' or whatever
dancetech I found Boom 2 for streaming audio but I can't try it, only for 10.10 perhaps you can try it? I use Snow leopard:)
***** www.globaldelight.com/boom-1/ (for previous osx) you gotta pay tho after the trail, i didnt look how much... ok, $9.99
Requires 10.8 oh well it was close.
HOW CAN I GET YOUR DRUMS
Where did you get those samples from?
only logic instruments are being used
Much Appreciated :>)
thank you
Real deal. Yes I.
BPM?
👌
Oh! But the crash should be at the end of the 4th bar! This aint reggae!))
SHAKA SHAKA WARRIOR!!!!
ua-cam.com/video/fBsrYWib9SQ/v-deo.html ;)
420th like lmao
again......it doesnt pound on the 8ths.....it should pound on the 4ths...1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 ...ur tempo is too fast....
+stephen mcferran what? the tempo should be slower than 68bpm and the kik should playing quarter beats?...i think you are confused & i suggest you try it on your own sequencer. hes thinking 140 tempo-ish
