Get someone to fabracobble you together some metal Lego parts instead of using the plastic ones. They have too much friction and the heat build up causes them to go soft (which is why stuff jams and/or explodes).
Unless the plan is to make it from straight Lego to see what's possible, at which point I have no idea how you can improve that...

Ha yeah I guess seeing how each arrangement holds up to a really high RPM could be useful for something, and people might learn something at the same time. If you get enough parts to do it, you might consider doing unrealistically sized engines, such as ones with 24 pistons maybe?
Also, I imagine that someone out there will be totally willing to help you out with the construction of metal variants of the parts you need. I wouldn't be surprised if someone watching the channel has either already started work on some or if you can already buy them from somewhere else. You could also somehow increase the RPM and test more things out using the metal version instead, and see what comes of it.

Only thing I would recommend if you're planning on gluing more pieces down. As close to 100% acetone is what you want the plastic dissolves in it. Meaning if done the right way instead of gluing bricks together you're more welding bricks together

Make a oil intake on top of the engine when running squrt WD 40 in trough a seald pipe into a big head piston cover that fills up and the faster you go the more oil flows inbitween the pistons giving you high lubrication levels allowing it to not blow a crank or size

You’d think crankcase oil would add more resistance and make it brake sooner, that’s part of the reason why two stroke engines can spin so much faster, no oil for the crankshaft to blast through

the crankcase full off oil probably wont do as well as this one becasue the crank will keep slapping the standing oil slowing it down and causing damage it will also cause the oil to foam if it makes it that far. will still be pretty interesting though.
