i live in morocco , my mother told me that in the past people used to eat these sparrows because they caused a lot of damage to farmers wheat just like Grasshoppers , flying in big formations and eating everything !
A couple of years ago wild hamsters were destroying plants from my family's garden, so we placed a trap to catch and release them in the wild. One day, I was in the garden and I heard the trap's door slam shut. Ran to see what happened and found a female sparrow inside. Poor thing was so scared and in shock that she didn't move when I got her out. She was in my hands for around 15 minutes before she came to her senses and flew away. I'll never forget how I held this baby in my arms. I hope she's still alive and well.

The birds when captured have a very high chance of dying from shock, also the oils in our hands can mess up their feathers, there for its hard for them to fly.
That's lovely, the only time I've been able to hold a songbird (a finch I think) was when one KO'd itself on a window, was so precious to hold such a light and delicate creature in my hand. It took a few mins but it recovered and flew off.
unfortunately birds that fly into windows often don't survive long, even if they seem okay and fly off. they may have internal injuries that are not visible, which will kill them later on. if birds flying into your windows is a recurring issue, there's some good information online for tips to stop it happening.

The birds when captured have a very high chance of dying from shock, also the oils in our hands can mess up their feathers, there for its hard for them to fly.
humans have natural oils in their body man, thats what i mean.

Thats ducks for you, they're water birds also their feathers are under a lot of layers so they won't be affected.

That's lovely, the only time I've been able to hold a songbird (a finch I think) was when one KO'd itself on a window, was so precious to hold such a light and delicate creature in my hand. It took a few mins but it recovered and flew off.
unfortunately birds that fly into windows often don't survive long, even if they seem okay and fly off. they may have internal injuries that are not visible, which will kill them later on.
if birds flying into your windows is a recurring issue, there's some good information online for tips to stop it happening.
@@fubberpish3614 Actually the only thing that really stops it is putting on a bunch of stripes.. i don't know of anything else that works (and no those fake birds do not help)
@@georgelionon9050 The fake bird shadows worked for me. I guess it varies due to window location, the way sunlight reflects and other factors.
