I just want to thank you for not being a robo-voice that "reviews" printers by reading product literature. And WTF is up with all the robo-voice printer review channels?!
Glad I could help, I'm really not sure why they would do that. I guess they are hoping to get monetized
I have an old B&W brother, the main reason I prefer brother is no chip on cartridges just a simple cog ⚙️ that one can just wind back and use every last bit of toner or refill it yourself also made easy, be interesting to know if brother cartridges have remained like this on their latest models
These do have a chip on each cartridge, although I have found after market ones which also have a chip that the printer accepts.
Which after market ones?
@@eldenreviews my printer is chip free, not that old bought it in a time that every other printer came chipped was common but brother didn’t go down this road tho I don’t know if they have changed in the last year or two.
How do you re-align it? I can’t find that option in the menu. Because it doesn’t print my pages symmetrically for the moment
After living with this printer for a while, I have several major issues with it.
1 - it sometimes takes forever to print, randomly. The same document may take 5 seconds, or may take 20 mintues.
2 - the blank unprintable margin on the page is around 1cm which is way too big
3 - the colour accuracy is really awful, everything looks too blue. A light purple / lilac block colour would come out looking deep purple blue colour. Don't bother with this printer if you may want to print one of two photos a year, you will hate it.
@@bigboldbicyclesorry to hear of all these issues. Personally, I've never had to wait 20 mins for a print, I've never had to wait 1 minute for a print. I'm not sure how you have it connected, USB? Network or Wifi, there could be several reasons why it's doing that. Also curuius if you are you using genuine inks or aftermarket? Personally I just use it for everyday work printing. I don't think it's ever going to print great photos etc. it's really an entry level led printer.
I would like to see a print quality of a photo.
How do you check toner levels?
Brother Utilities App, then click on Status Monitor, it will give you all the ink levels.
@@eldenreviews Great, thanks.
Great review! Would you mind printing out a photo to see the quality of images please. Thanks 🙏🏽
I don't have any photo paper, I can tell you for images, it looks similar to that of a bubble jet printer. I'm guessing you would have to get photo paper to see the best results, which I don't have sorry.
Man, I wish he printed something big and colorful though...
You can do that, it comes out ok in full colour but I only have office paper. I've printed a few A4.pictures.out for the kids and have framed them and they look ok. I probably wouldn't use it for a photo printer. Hope that helps.
OK, I will buy it!!
Awesome, latest price is in the description if you'd like to support the channel :)
Thanks for the review. Does it accept compatible Toner not from Brother? Without stopping the machine?
I have just purchased aftermarket toner from and it seems to work fine, I think I made a mistake in the video and its about 5,000 pages.
can the toner be refilled in the same cartridge? can the toner count be reset? has brother released a firmware that prevents you from resetting the toner count? can the firmware be rolled back to a previous version?
also, is there something called a "waste toner bin" in it? I have not had such a bin in my monochrome laser, is it true?
I would do a google search on each if those questions. I don't think you can refill them no
this printer can print on photo paper sir?
I have not tried that as I only use it for office. I'd try for you but I don't have any photo paper here sorry. Maybe if you google the model number you will see if others have
Would you recommend this ? I really want a laser printer. Others are too expensive
I've been pretty happy with it to be honest, the only other laser I've owned in past was a Samsung, this is better than that was. Only issue as someone pointed out below is the paper curl you can see in the video. This doesn't both me as it just a general printer, for work or school stuff.
Does the paper eventually flatten out?
@@soulassassin4847 Yeah if you watch the video again you will see the curl in the middle but the paper is flat afterwards
Thanks for the video. Do you know if this printer is MAC-compatible?
Yes works with Mac
Can this printer be used to print In black ink and then have reactive foil stick to it ?
I'm not sure sorry
Can it print colour
Yes
Yes mate
Highest dpi?
This is what Thier website states: 600 x 600 dpi, 2,400 dpi class (2400 x 600) quality
Does the black ink dry on glossy papers please as ATM I have three espon printers including a A3 and the black ink never dries Tia
Sorry don't have glossy paper to try that
Is there a version of this that scans and copies too?
Yes there is a few but check out this one here amzn.to/3LPot91
Hi can you print on thick artcard like glossy artcard 260gsm?
No, that's too thick I would say
Has anyone purchased one (with their own money) and can comment on the running costs?
I did actually buy this, running cost is quite cheap if you use aftermarket inks, like all printers if you buy the official inks they can get expensive but also recommended for warranty. Id google genuine replacement inks and you will get an idea on running costs.
these brother printers are PAPER CURLERS! they curl the paper way TOO MUCH,,,,,
Never had that problem personally, I use it everyday
its CLEAR in your video that the paper is curled.. but i guess that does not bother some people @@eldenreviews
@@karmendimas5274 Oh I see what you mean now, I thought you meant the ends get curled up. I doesn't seem to impact the final product for me though.. For my type of usage at least it's not an issue.
@@karmendimas5274 its common for many laser printers. If you leave your paper exposed (not sealed) for a long time, it adsorbs moisture and during printing, it curls.
It is LED printer not laser.
@@eldenreviews It is not using laser but LEDs. Open top cover and see what is there :) m.media-amazon.com/images/I/C1LtoI4RhaS.pdf see page 283. It kinda works the same but there is no laser in there. LEDs are used to light the drums. So they are not laser printers :)

@ILmaddog what the heck is an LED printer dude? This is clearly a laser printer lol
@@soulassassin4847 This is clearly a LED printer lol 😄. There is no laser in it. Search on YT for LED printers and you will see for yourself :). You can check manual too for this printer - page 283
