  • With maple sugaring season only being as little as a couple weeks away in my neck of the woods in northwestern North Carolina, I wanted to visit the old maple sugaring grounds of the family, while my wife and kids were visiting my parents in Michigan during Christmas week.
The weather wasn’t good the whole time we were in Michigan (cloudy/rainy), so I didn't think that we were going to make it further north. My Dad and I however decided, rather last minute, to make a quick visit to the Lasley homestead and sugarbush in Cross Village, despite the weather. Dad wanted to wrap up a couple small projects in the house, and I decided to rescue some more boards from the old dilapidated barn.
On the way, Dad and I stopped at our favorite restaurant in the area, Moose Jaw Junction, in Larks Lake, and then we spent about 4 hours at the homestead, until heading back to my parent’s house a couple hours down state.

What fun! A wet Winter day spent with your Dad. That is really special. Great boards😊

We love driving through the tunnel of trees that ends in Cross Village and going for lunch at Leggs Inn, great polish food and outdoor patio. Nice Village.
