voguing, as all other sorts of dancing, is just an ATTEEMPT to let your soul dance and true house dancing is.... sorry cant find word to describe it but if u know house, no words are needed
oh my gosh....ive been a househead for 16.4 years and im just now discovering house dancing.....WOW im going to try those super-sweet spin moves into my jerkin.. my gosh, this is amazing!!!
I learned to dance house years ago in the birthplace of it.. and that was in the loft parties & underground clubs of Chicago, and one thing I can tell you from my years of experience is that real house dancing is a totally spontaneous freestyle form of expression. It only happens when the music is right, and you have surrendered your body to the rythm.
Just like the old days house music is coming back with a twist I remember being in so many Dance crews back in the day !! And this is the out come of it . Proud of everyone out there keep it up and don't forget to Step !!lol
From what I saw back in those days, it all depended on who you were hanging out with. Everyone was exchanging ideas and everything was evolving together, so it's really hard to pinpoint one central source of inspiration. Anyone who was underground back then listened to everything.
House dancing styles have always varied depending on the time period and where you are from. I've been dancing since the early seventies and traveled all over... and every time you think you found "it"... another crew in another city brings some other element that makes you go, "Oh Yeah... that's the one!" Older people will know exactly what I'm talking about. Don't be fooled by labels.
New York was still wrapped up in Larry around that time, who was also still playing disco. In fact he wasn't really playing house until 87 as I recall... about the time the Garage ended.
Jeez... can you imagine someone asking a pro about this? "What do you do in house?", "Whatever the fuck feels right". Hip-hop, Bollywood, tap, jazz, break dancing, Irish... anything you can name practically, it's all in here...
House is growing fast, Taiwan, Korea, Especially Japan and its HUGE in France. we have a small but strong following in San Francisco, Hawaii and Socal tear it up too.
It seems to me that this kind of dance-style is very popular although I haven't seen anything like this in the Netherlands. In the Netherlands we do listen to house but it's a lot more versitile than this kind of house. However I'm certainly interested in this kind of dance style, although it doesn't require any choreagrophy... And clowning/Krumping/Breakdance does in a certain extent.
Laterzzz
look at the comments you wrote on sick house dancing. took me home a little bit because you used house in the bay around 88, 89 we started evolving out of our hammer stage. going to a clu b walnut creek called lipse to battle cats fron san jose who later became housing authority. later on in the years our favorite spot became "1 up" in the city (SF)
Okay, i know Daning to house music is fun and all, especially with all the steps, but for some reason it always reminds me of Disco, maybe its the Armflailing and throwing lol
You're right, but it's not that we felt consciously that disco needed a change, it's just one of many directions it went. Even in the 80's Frankie and Ron were still playing disco... and so called "house" referred to home made tracks stripped down to minimal drum beats and bassline that local djs would ask them to debut. That part did start in Chicago.
Wow i love people who know nothing about hip hop. House came before B-Boying. It did come after disco, but it got its influences from Lindy era, African, Latin, Brazilian, jazz, tap, and even modern. Capoeira is another style that House incorporated, but thats the closes it came to B-Boying. B-Boying did kinda start in the 70's, but not from house and it was really made into a dance in the 80's by the Rock Steady Crew and other OG's.
2:15 wins it for my mind, nice clean footwork, great balance and style. Warm, friendly tag with the dancer going out too - that's the embodiment of house! What's with the hillbilly outfit at 0:24 ha ha!?
Yup. tottal truth. thats exactly what i said. Papps was dancing HOUSE while bboying was still being born. he will be quick to tell any one of you that house is plenty much OLDER than B-boying
try searching for the history of house dancing. or basic house stepping videos here. from what i know (but im not an expert though), try to look the movements of the feet. if you're a tap dancer, house can be very easy for you. :) hope i helped.
in my oppinion this is not house - but anyway those guys are great dancers. whatever they are dancing, they have a great performance. and i think it doesn't matter to which kind of music someone's performing, if he or she is doing well everybody should respect that.
@2Boobie4 Yea the pin drop & the groove that looks like the dougie, I see where your getting at. Although, moves like those that were pioneered by the real hiphop dances sort of leak out & people take them & change them up a bit & call it their own. I've noticed today that jerkers are starting to do a lot of moves from breaking. More acrobatics to widen their variety, more grooves like the one you see in houseing that resembles the dougie. I'm not saying don't jerk, I'm just clearling stuff up.
voguing, as all other sorts of dancing,
is just an ATTEEMPT to let your soul dance
and true house dancing is....
sorry cant find word to describe it but if u know house, no words are needed
I am re-visiting this video, having not seen it for likely the last 6+ years. Still cool
house is truly for those blessed with godly rhythm.. no hiding behind any tricks
and that duo with the blue pants really nailed their routine
house is a feeling.....it touches the soul...you can't help but to dance......it comes from within.
oh my gosh....ive been a househead for 16.4 years and im just now discovering house dancing.....WOW
im going to try those super-sweet spin moves into my jerkin..
my gosh, this is amazing!!!
The name of this song is Respect to the Elements (Remix) by Andrea T. Mendoza.
I learned to dance house years ago in the birthplace of it.. and that was in the loft parties & underground clubs of Chicago, and one thing I can tell you from my years of experience is that real house dancing is a totally spontaneous freestyle form of expression. poppin, house, breakin...everything that is done with passion is great....
From what I saw back in those days, it all depended on who you were hanging out with. Everyone was exchanging ideas and everything was evolving together, so it's really hard to pinpoint one central source of inspiration. Anyone who was underground back then listened to everything.
Man house dancing can be used as the rawest top rock!

House is growing fast, Taiwan, Korea, Especially Japan and its HUGE in France. we have a small but strong following in San Francisco, Hawaii and Socal tear it up too.

Haha, housing looks way better than jerking, though. It actually looks really sick cause of all the musicality and rhythm.
it's like they start off house dancing then go into freestyle jitterbuggin and bboyin but its good footage
Dang, this looks like fun to be doing. :D I might try to practice house dancing sometime. =3
great!Has a bit from Sabar dance,the moves.like it!
Me too!! It's so smooth
House is about complex footwork and good torso movement. It's hard to explain, but if you get into it, you can tell whats going on.
ohh i love those guys from 1:02 to 1:38! they're soooo good!!! wish I could be as good as they are.. haha maybe some day!
I think many would love to see a vdieo of your dancing. It sounds quite promising.

Less talk, more rock! LOL
Ooh its kinda like toprock, but that footwork is INSANE. O.O

Dope!
this is neat i wanna learn.
There should be one for the over 40s
House came from Disco, not Bboy. And it was also born in a club. Its called "The Warehouse" in Chicago...
@thegreatman99 , well now the shuffeling could be kept as a movement in a notha dance...lol
that's it!!!
why there are no bboys doin hustle? hahahaha
in my oppinion this is not house - but anyway those guys are great dancers. whatever they are dancing, they have a great performance. and i think it doesn't matter to which kind of music someone's performing, if he or she is doing well everybody should respect that.
