    Looks like a really interesting place. Between Husain and the U.S I am amazed anything survived in Iraq

    Those people don’t want to live in the marshes anymore. They don’t care about tradition or heritage anymore. Roads, electricity, running water in a marsh is never going to happen or work, that’s insane. They want a modern life. Im so sorry.

      Not really, the Ba’athist destroyed the marshes after 1991 because Shia rebels went into hiding there. The US has aided in their restoration. Obviously the 2003 invasion was a total failure but the marsh Arabs are the few Iraqis that benefited from it.
