Got roughly 7k miles on my 2020 hawk now. Haven't exactly been gentle on it. Always overreving it on the main roads. But!!!! Still going strong. And gave the confidence to buy my second ever bike, a 09 Vulcan 500. But I'm definitely keeping the hawk for offroading adventures!
I am from a poor place in Canada and cheep broken chinese stuff is all I could afford to mess with. They had lots of spare parts and upgrades for cheep so it was a really good way to get hands on and not spend a ton. Cool videos MC
Great vid @17:22 -I had the same thing happen on my '23 DLX on my first trip into work on the thing -of course!! Had to walk the thing out of traffic to see what the hell was going on and found both of those nuts had loosened on me. After burning the crap out of my index finger I managed to get them snug enough to get it into work anyway! So see? Some shit does still wriggle loose even with counter balance 😆😆 You are correct though -very smooth running unit for what it is otherwise. I wound up just disconnecting the cable at that end (very easy) and made a simple assembly of washers and nuts to hold it into position firmly against that bracket -holds perfectly now and shouldn't vibrate loose again. I noticed that clutch tension guide (behind the exhaust you were burning your fingers on like I was 🤣🤣) is just hollow -which is why the chintzy washers they give you done't firmly grab against it no matter how tightly you reef on them. Also not as robust as block mounted units that come on "name" brand units. Dammit -shoulda spent that extra $6k 😂😂
It was good that you shared the positive story with the mechanic you came to know ,and help . Not bad for regular guy ! Thanks……
Yeah your first hawk video definitely inspired me to pull the trigger on buying my first bike it was a Chinese Enduro to ...It was great for about a year until the rear swingarm bolt just snapped one day After that I lost all confidence in it sold it and bought a honda .... But, yeah, don't regret anything. And thanks for giving me the push I needed to get me riding🏍😁👍
Same happened to me, I though just bought a CSC bolt and kept going, I assume it's the head that snapped off for you as well? Also while I wouldn't recommend it and certainly not safe, I rode like that for about a week and a half while I waited for parts to come in so it seems theres at least enough girth on the frame to keep in from directly popping out
Do they have big forests around with forest dirt roads? Going through a forest trail for 30 minutes would be cool. Take a few things to use like a stove and camp chair. Cook a lot of stew or something. Maybe in the fall.
No real good state forest close to me but I have some good private trails that I can do that with, and even some metal detecting and stuff. Good idea I should do that
I actually love these bikes, japanese bikes price are pretty bloated ,and brandonomics doesn't leave much left over. These bikes are perfect what Volkswagen was meant to be (any one could work on them) Thanks motocheese for all you do 👍🏍️🏍️
Good pappy story..: I always turn wrenches because can’t afford to pay anyone else… plus taking everything apart as a kid… I’ve done it all.. valve adjustment and crank seal in a Honda rebel to head gasket and timing components in a galant. Good video’s.. thanks. I’m looking to buy a new bike.🤷🏻
Hawk-X looks nice. I saw them on preorder when I got my Raven. Raven runs good out of the box and has similar tires. I hit 62 on the Raven (GPS speed). The Ravens speedo is KPH and Kilometers. Would like MPH but I want something plug and play with no rewiring.
Being super late to the game, that's not a storm drain. It's likely a power transformer vault. The open grate is to help keep it cool. We have everywhere here and offen full of water cuz the drains are clogged.
Great video Cheez 🧀👍 my magician has 12,579 Miles on still running good. I'm looking to up grade to the Recon or the hawk soon. Do Have Any advice on what bike is better ❓
Yes but it also has to trave through the oil, hence making more drag, especially since to counter balance it has to be eccentric and not a perfectly even object so it'll displace more oil at certain points in the revolution
I am speculating here but most likely the horsepower lost due to counter balancing was not as usable as the pleasure gained from the reduced vibration ride, a worthy trade off if you ask me.
I went rode my BSA through a old covered bridge in one of the New England states years ago that still had a wooden road way and was slippery as snot.hahaha What was the road surface material of the one you went through? I've been following you since your first Hawk, how many have you had and which are your favorites? later
This still has the wooden planks! I've had about 20 China bikes. My favorite bike so far are the hawk DLX, the bras 250s and the Condor. Time that might all change once that Lifan KPX 250 comes
Those engines are for hondas from the 80s and. They were designed for countries that didn't have access to maintenance resources. They needed something that would be the most reliable with the least amount of maintenance possible.
5:36 you get more horsepower, but lower torque. Meaning, your acceleration is slower, but your top speed will be higher. It would only be noticeable if you have the 2 different engine bikes doing a pull vs eachother.
I almost went yesterday but I ended up working on another e-bike I'm doing a video for. Plus weekends are crazy. Doing a metal detecting video today on the e-bike have a little backstory on where I'm going and why
The nuts weren't tight so the vibrations loosen them up. Even though there's way less vibration than the non-counter balance engine. I just overlooked that when I was checking bolts for tightness
@MotoCheez muh hawk X came in got a question good sir, on the wiring cluster behind headlight I got signals and headlight figured but that extra connector is that for a accessory that's not on this bike and it's just a mass production harness? Or am I miss what it's supposed to go to, is the 3 pin connector.
It looks like an accessory plug, ground live and switched wire. I haven't tested but I'm pretty certain. I'll be hooking up a charge port soon so I'll confi6
I burned out on riding with a large group. The slowest and worst rider of the group thinks the whole bunch should ride HIS ride while he's preaching "ride your OWN ride". They want to follow (and stick you out in front), but tell you HOW to lead. Most of 'em can't work on their own bike, but none of 'em have time to stay with you if YOU'RE limping, and abandon you. Then you have the ones who make good money but don't want to pay a mechanic to maintain their bike, want to bring you a six-pack and then give you a timeline to finish by, because they have to be at work. Sure, made some great memories with many of 'em, but most of 'em were pretty shallow when it matters.
@@MotoCheez in China motorcycles are not allowed on almost any expressway and generally in the middle of most city's, basically all motorcycles are treated like they are 150cc scooters from a legal perspective, they are tools of the poor in the eyes of China and they don't want to see them where they live and travel

searching information for Motorcycle Jettings led me to your channel.
Welcome,
I do a lot of carb jetting on many different bikes!

Awesome
ever thought about getting into the amazon china boats?
for content and fishing?
I haven't seen them to be honest. I've seen the small outboard motors.
Love exploring with Cheezy :D
If you ever get the opportunity you should try riding the orion rxb 250 l. Best Chinese bike imo.
I'm working on getting one

I don't think they make one to be honest. You could buy one and wire up though
Recon all sold out til spring. You have any experience with the templar 250x 6 speed?
Yeah, they told me.
No I haven't but looks pretty good

Ahh. Ok
Which do you think is better, the Hawk or the Recon ?
Recon, has inverted front forks
Which is better the hawk or the brozz?
The Brozz, has better suspension., inverted forks
Great video Cheez 🧀👍 my magician has 12,579 Miles on still running good. I'm looking to up grade to the Recon or the hawk soon. Do Have Any advice on what bike is better ❓
The DLX and Recon is a close tie...
Counterbalancer should act like a heavier flywheel, not ‘robbing hp’ just slowing down the response some ( unless they lightened the flywheel )
True, just a little more drag, but the better balance should counteract the HP used...
Yes but it also has to trave through the oil, hence making more drag, especially since to counter balance it has to be eccentric and not a perfectly even object so it'll displace more oil at certain points in the revolution
@jaykoerner it's not in oil splashing
I am speculating here but most likely the horsepower lost due to counter balancing was not as usable as the pleasure gained from the reduced vibration ride, a worthy trade off if you ask me.
Damn Cheez we have the same knife
Nice, I've had same one for about 8 years now
Janus cycles in Goshen Indiana builds some nice ( expensive ) bikes using the CG250.
Nice, didn't know that
I wonder if this engine would be a simple swap for us original hawk owners?
No, it's longer and the frame would need to be extended. I show difference on the unbox video
Thanks Motocheez!! I’ll check it out
Looks like some mods in the future so X can finally give it to you. Makes me want to go dust off the OG Hawk.
For sure! Do it

Definitely if I plan on off-roading more. Gonna leave stock on for a little while I think
Very useful 🙏

Yes, mostly Africa I believe. We did get a CG125 here in the states back then too
I still like the DR650 for its power and weight. Ease of maintenance and usability on the highway. They should sell DR's new for $5k ..
Love my DRZ400 for same reason
@@MotoCheez I'm a shorty inseam and DR is about as high as I can go.😂
I lowered mine.
@@MotoCheez ah.. Ok.. Still good with up to 2" less suspension I bet.. Or 1" and an aftermarket seat.
Yes. I lowered about 1" and put less gas pressure in rear shock

YAYYYYYYYYYYYY,,AGAIN
Glad you made a video on the new hawk. I have been considering buying one or not.
Did you ever shave the seat down? I'm lazy and would rather just buy a better one but man, that seat is really terrible! gotta do something
I didn't yet, but I've been down at my Florida place most the winter.
Agreed, the seat should be flat from factory
I'm want to put in a request for a fishing with Cheezy video. Do Harley guys wave to you on the Hawk?
