God, there is just SO much to take in with this video/song that it drove me literally insane. I need to, like, GUSH about all of the fine details about this thing. I know that some lore beats MAY be incorrect, but I don’t care, man, this song is awesome and I need to talk about why. Firstly, I wanna touch on the designs??? Dude, I ADORE Pace’s design here. I already am the biggest sucker for Post Mortem Sonic having a cape, but the witch hat alongside it for Pace just makes me adore the little guy. It also may clue us into the fact that this universe may be more of a fantastical setting as opposed to Sonic’s normal world, and I think that that’s SUCH a sick idea for an exe take. I can see it now, Pace just conjuring up potions and chucking them at his enemies (or making them just so he can yeet it at someone and then book it in the other direction, this poor fella). HIS SUPER FORM WITH THE ANGELIC WINGS IS SICK AS ALL ILLNESSES COMBINED, BY THE WAY??? BRO IF ONLY YALL SAW THE SMILE ON MY FACE WHEN I SAW IT FOR THE FIRST TIME, PACE WAS HERE TO FIIIIIGHT!!! GO PACE!!! Secondly, The Shadow’s new design is a change I have to get used to, due to me liking the more “Shadow the Hedgehog”-esque look of his old design (and the fact that it supported my old headcanon of the story taking place in a bootleg where Shadow got turned into this after never receiving Maria’s final message to keep the Earth safe. I liked to believe that this was Black Doom’s influence over his DNA in this AU, and is the reason he wished to become the “Ultimate Lifeform” and take everything over), but I adore the more messy, splotchy, ink-blot look he has now! He looks like part of an ever growing mass trying to attempt excrescence, and if that was the point, then you guys cooked with that look!! I also wanna touch on his new chromatic, what with him sounding less like a screaming banshee (no offense ofc, I love that chromatic and the fact that it was reused for the Black Sun…I think?) and more so a monster with a very dark and shattered voice, and I love that for The Shadow! Gives him more character in my opinion. It was smart to differentiate his voice from the Black Sun! Gonna make these quick because I DESPERATELY want to touch upon the story that the visualizer is trying to tell, but Brains, Brawn, Chef Saute, and Rosy’s designs are so neat!! I love Brains’ bows and Brawn’s scarf(?) (if none of you can tell, I absolutely adore putting little accessories on characters), Chef Saute’s hat and gloves (IS THAT A FIGHT OR FLIGHT REDMIX REFERENCE???), and Rosy’s taller stature and headbow! They just all look vastly different compared to Sonic’s normal world and I ADORE THE FANTASY LOOK. anyway story time So, this is all pure speculation, but if I had to build a potential plotline from all of the hints and things scattered across the visualizer, I’d say it has to go like this. Pace must’ve been dealing with the Black Sun’s presence for a while, as he was reading up on some research papers to discover the location of one of the Chaos Emeralds (which may be named/do something very differently compared to the Emeralds we know, do not quote me on that). As we know, Pace…is a coward. He may have the same speed and, potentially, the same powers as Sonic, but he just can’t push past his anxieties to really SHOW them off. That’s not the case here in the song, though. Heck, even the visualizer just yells out the message of the video AND Pace’s goal here…to “Face his Fears”. Be “FEARLESS” as one may be able to connect (if that was intentional, then I’m gonna lose my MARBLES that is so clever). He trekked through the dark and creepy woods to find the book, and probably ended up going to the castle after some time in order to find the emerald. Since he transforms later, let’s just assume that he had the other emeralds in his possession. and then the Shadow found him in the castle and the standoff begins in the first place (so mean) Pace is TERRIFIED, but I feel the need to mention that he’s still attempting to hold his ground. The pose he’s making in the section before the atonal section feels like a Sonic pose to me, I dunno. The atonal section kicks in afterward, and LORD can I just say that I love this part? The Shadow is SO aggressive sounding and Pace is trying to reason with him (either that or the things he’s saying are just…a part of the visualizer, which, fair. They’re funni). I wanted to touch on the things Pace says as well? “MY NAME IS PACE!” “I’M REALLY SCARED RIGHT NOW!” It’s like he’s attempting to get the Shadow to understand him so it can understand how HE’S feeling. Maybe he has that Sonic charm that sees the best in everyone (even if it’s in the absolute WORST beings imaginable). I just…adore Pace’s character, man. There’s so much you can tell about him from this song alone and I can’t help but love that. Running section, I don’t have much to say, aside from the background and animation looking clean! Reminds me of Chinelin Sonic tbh, what with the (almost) infinite ground and the blood red sky. And then Pace JUMPS INTO THE WATER AND DISCOVERS THE EMERALD?? Can we talk about how the emerald is slightly darkened as well as to show the Shadow’s influence on the world as a whole? LIke, it MUST have done a massive amount of damage if it managed to affect a magic space jewel like that. It’s also VERY desperate to keep Pace away from it, what with the numerous mouths around the mass as Pace falls. I like to imagine it as the Shadow starting to get worried that Pace is actually retaliating, thinking “hey wait why is this coward actually fighting back for once” and having to lock in by finally taking possession of Pace’s body and using the powers Pace has against his world. But WE SEE PACE FIGHTING ALL OF THIS OFF AS WELL! When the Shadow’s presence takes him over, he is DESPERATELY trying to fight it off and get control of his body long enough to finally use the emerald he earned, and you can hear it in his grunts and groans in the section. Imagine how painful it is to have your body contorted and stretched out and having to fight for control during ALL of that. We finally reach the Super Form section, and Pace LOCKS INNNNNN I love seeing him go!! He finally gets control of his body (mostly), as he breaks out of the castle and starts booking it to the Black Sun, finally attempting to face his fear head on. THAT is character development done right and it’d be even better if we eventually saw how life was before the Shadow took over to really emphasize how much Pace has grown since all of this. Let me remind you that this hedgehog is KNOWN to be a coward in all of his incarnations, but you see him being confident and doing his best to take back his home in this song, and you HAVE to love and appreciate that! If I were to give a name to this Super Form, I’d call him either “Poised Pace” or “Panicked Pace”. Poised means confident, and Panicked is an ironic use of the word since Pace is LOCKED IN when in this form, and I can tell that he is even with the lack of facial expressions in the visualizer. Those poses radiate heroic “I AM TIRED OF YOUR MEDDLING” energy, and I LIIIVE FOR THAT. …But even then, Pace still has to fight off the Shadow, as right when he gets to the Black Sun (and while he was flying too), he looks the way he does. Now that I’m listening to the song again while typing this, it sounds like Pace and Shadow’s vocals are layered on top of each other…that’s interestin’. I ALSO NEED TO MENTION HOW HEARTBREAKING IT IS not only hearing Pace fighting for control in his battle against the Black Sun, but you can hear how distressed he is when HE SEES HIS FRIENDS CHAINED UP BY THE BLACK SUN AND STILL ATTEMPTING TO CHEER HIM ON! Even Chef Saute is trying to encourage him to keep fighting (it’d be neat to know that the chef was actually an ally to the guys instead of a villain, I just think that’d be neat), and that is saying a LOT for a version of Eggman. Pace’s friends are all chained up and trying to break free btw. Just, uh, gonna mention that. The Shadow wants to destroy this hedgehog psychologically, clearly… Anyway, the final section! …So we all agree that there’s NO WAY Rosy isn’t dead, right? I mean, she wasn’t present during the whole “Pace’s Friends’ Rebellion” section. This HAS to take place in Pace’s mind, similar to the concepts in earlier versions of Self-Paced. Rosy must’ve been really close to Pace, as she’s the only one in this white void of mind alongside him. Maybe this was an illusion created by the Shadow to get Pace to give up his struggle? It MUST’VE been because of the final vocals in the song, where Rosy reveals herself to be the Shadow (it must’ve taken her out), and Pace lets out one final scream…as we see what the world looks like. I’m praying that Pace actually WON, but the scene looks…very hopeless as we see the Black Sun, radiating its energy, and the trees taken over by it with all of the teeth around them. I like to believe this is the Shadow just making Pace hallucinate that he lost so he can gain control of his body. And since Pace just used the Chaos Emeralds, he probably doesn’t have that much energy…no will to think or fight, therefore signing his, and potentially his friends’ Obituaries, as the Shadow takes full control of his body, mind, and soul. …But eh, I like to imagine that he won. Good job, Pace. And great job, SP TEAM! This song was a bop and I hope you all get a long rest. Merry Christmas!! …If either of ya’ll read this thing all the way through, uh Thanks for listening to my analysis!!! I love this guy. imma go write about Pace now seeya -Writer P.S: Rosy’s design reminds me of Mari from OMORI for some reason. She just seems like a caring presence.
I think something that would make this so much worse is that maybe something like what you originally thought of happened, with Shadow becoming this creature after Black Doom's DNA in him caused him to mutate into this thing, but it was extremely unstable, it was barely holding itself together, so it needed a vessel, lifeforce to feed off of to continue to exist, and it chose ROSY to be that first victim, which is why she never shows up in the song until the end and there's that shot with Shadow's face covering hers (maybe the entire reason why Pace was going to the castle to find this book was so that he could potentially bring Rosy back from the dead after she mysteriously went missing? of course saving the world would be in mind too, but Rosy is what drove Pace to go on this quest) Pace was merely another addition to the creature's assimilation, a powerful one yes, but just another one to the tally, and judging by the ending, so were his friends & Chef Saute, leading this version of Mobius to its doom

THIS. IS. AWESOME. Its crazy to me how much people can do with a song/vizualizer. This breaks the boundarys and limits of the Zgameditor. It has got to be in my top 3 favorite songs the the fnf franchise. The character design is very cool, especially pace (I LOVE his witch hat.) You guys definitely deserve a long break. We finally reach the Super Form section, and Pace LOCKS INNNNNN I love seeing him go!! He finally gets control of his body (mostly), as he breaks out of the castle and starts booking it to the Black Sun, finally attempting to face his fear head on. THAT is character development done right and it’d be even better if we eventually saw how life was before the Shadow took over to really emphasize how much Pace has grown since all of this. Let me remind you that this hedgehog is KNOWN to be a coward in all of his incarnations, but you see him being confident and doing his best to take back his home in this song, and you HAVE to love and appreciate that! If I were to give a name to this Super Form, I’d call him either “Poised Pace” or “Panicked Pace”. Poised means confident, and Panicked is an ironic use of the word since Pace is LOCKED IN when in this form, and I can tell that he is even with the lack of facial expressions in the visualizer. Those poses radiate heroic “I AM TIRED OF YOUR MEDDLING” energy, and I LIIIVE FOR THAT.
…But even then, Pace still has to fight off the Shadow, as right when he gets to the Black Sun (and while he was flying too), he looks the way he does. Now that I’m listening to the song again while typing this, it sounds like Pace and Shadow’s vocals are layered on top of each other…that’s interestin’.
I ALSO NEED TO MENTION HOW HEARTBREAKING IT IS not only hearing Pace fighting for control in his battle against the Black Sun, but you can hear how distressed he is when HE SEES HIS FRIENDS CHAINED UP BY THE BLACK SUN AND STILL ATTEMPTING TO CHEER HIM ON! Even Chef Saute is trying to encourage him to keep fighting (it’d be neat to know that the chef was actually an ally to the guys instead of a villain, I just think that’d be neat), and that is saying a LOT for a version of Eggman.
Pace’s friends are all chained up and trying to break free btw. Just, uh, gonna mention that. The Shadow wants to destroy this hedgehog psychologically, clearly…
Anyway, the final section!
…So we all agree that there’s NO WAY Rosy isn’t dead, right? I mean, she wasn’t present during the whole “Pace’s Friends’ Rebellion” section. This HAS to take place in Pace’s mind, similar to the concepts in earlier versions of Self-Paced. Rosy must’ve been really close to Pace, as she’s the only one in this white void of mind alongside him. Maybe this was an illusion created by the Shadow to get Pace to give up his struggle? It MUST’VE been because of the final vocals in the song, where Rosy reveals herself to be the Shadow (it must’ve taken her out), and Pace lets out one final scream…as we see what the world looks like.
I’m praying that Pace actually WON, but the scene looks…very hopeless as we see the Black Sun, radiating its energy, and the trees taken over by it with all of the teeth around them. I like to believe this is the Shadow just making Pace hallucinate that he lost so he can gain control of his body. And since Pace just used the Chaos Emeralds, he probably doesn’t have that much energy…no will to think or fight, therefore signing his, and potentially his friends’ Obituaries, as the Shadow takes full control of his body, mind, and soul.
…But eh, I like to imagine that he won. Good job, Pace.

I think something that would make this so much worse is that maybe something like what you originally thought of happened, with Shadow becoming this creature after Black Doom's DNA in him caused him to mutate into this thing, but it was extremely unstable, it was barely holding itself together, so it needed a vessel, lifeforce to feed off of to continue to exist, and it chose ROSY to be that first victim, which is why she never shows up in the song until the end and there's that shot with Shadow's face covering hers (maybe the entire reason why Pace was going to the castle to find this book was so that he could potentially bring Rosy back from the dead after she mysteriously went missing? of course saving the world would be in mind too, but Rosy is what drove Pace to go on this quest)
Pace was merely another addition to the creature's assimilation, a powerful one yes, but just another one to the tally, and judging by the ending, so were his friends & Chef Saute, leading this version of Mobius to its doom
