The freedom unite opening doesn't end with the hunter looking at the tower, hes looking at a massive tree trunk found in the the first Grank map you visit, the Ancient Forest. It's also why we see nargacuga at the very end. Why? Because you first encounter Nargacuga in the Ancient forest back in MHFU.
The fact that they already have a book for MHW and Iceborne but only in Japan means they really need to get that content worldwide considering how popular this game is especially in the west now with MHW!
I may have an extra guess for you, the cooking cat in the kitchen of aestra is the partner from the huntsman. You never see the huntsman with his palico but if you look at the monster unit opening sequence you can notice that the palico as the same fur pattern as the chef. If we assume the huntsmen came with the first fleet, it is not impossible that his palico came with him. Then you look at the fur and the way the cat always say his master was the best hunter ever, and you can make the link between the to pretty easily. On extra thing it possible that the teostra fight was what cost the cooking palico his right eye and that would make an extra reason for the hunter to have this deep relation with Teostra. That would also explain why he did not finish the fight and killed Teostra already in the old world, he Ran away to save his palico's/parterner's/friend's life. That just my take and theory about this ^^
Also at the guild hall of MHFU there is one nervous looking and stuttering Palico waiting for his master to return, the "Rats" he mentioned his master was hunting on the dialogue maybe jumbled for "stra" pertaining to Teo-stra, theory
Well, if you remember the MHFU opening sequence, at the end of the opening, a Nargacuga approaches the screen before transitioning to the logo. Meaning that's one more solid proof that the Huntsman is the main character in Freedom Unite.
The most insulting part about his armor set is that in Iceborne, his armor skills and set bonus is... a material farming set... Would be nice if it was better.

Tbh when first time seing the huntsman in mhw i was like this guy looks familiar and after playing the game and seing more cutscenes then it clicked this guy is the dude from mhfu then i research more about him and found this thread in reddit that also suggested it was him. So pretty much I know everything about all of this stuff however props to you by giving the time and effort to do this video for the most badass npc in mhw. Now let's all hope that capcom soon will confirm it officially and make a cutscene of huntsman fighting who knows a fatalis.
The thing he's looking at at the end of the freedom unite introductory cinematic is NOT the tower. It's the giant tree trunk in the great forest introduced in that game as Nargacugas home
Not sure if it's been said and i admit i forget when he gives you the information but apparently the huge gash in his right pauldron (the all metal shoulder for those who don't know armor) was from the Teostra and it can be assumed that along with the damage to his armor he probably got injured pretty badly not a career ending injury but one that may have forced him to change his hunting style so that could be another reason besides his age that he now favors a longsword over a greatsword. Also that is a disgustingly long run on sentence.
I wish I coud make a squad of the master hunter, admiral, commender and the sapphire star (protagonist). That would make a Baddass legendary team. I think even furious rajang /savage joe would not dare to mess with this squad.
Hoping Capcom will give us a mechanic where we can invite NPCs to join our hunt. If so, then let's hope those characters you mentioned make an appearance in the upcoming game
The blacksmith mentions something along the lines of "That huntsman has worn the same armor for the past 50 years, half of me wants to shake some sense into him, the other half wants to pat his back with respect for it" The years could be wrong. But essentially, he's worn the same exact armor his entire hunting career.
I honestly like the little bits of lore and character building that we get in monster hunter, and I honestly wish they’d tackle a more complex story driven narrative one day
8:36 that actually isn't the tower, but the dead tree in the forest map (forgot the name) it's a map from frontier that came to the main series together with Hypnocatrice. It's where Nargacuca is introduced to the series.
@@tomjue5128 It really is. They straight out said "copying his movements". @FuryousD Not really. After you beat the MR200 quest, he is shocked nearly speechless. That's not a sign of "oh, I could have done this in my youth." It's genuine amazement that any 1 hunter is good enough to take on 4 extremely powerful elders (technically at once). His age is hitting him hard though. The MR Teostra optional quest's description actually has him (and a few others) losing to that target Teostra, and requesting backup. Admittedly, all MR monsters are meant to be the very pinnacle of their species, but you get the gist. The Huntsman became famous for hunting a Teostra after all, in a world where the average hunter struggles against an Arzuros.
I always think Huntsman is similar to my brother since he's the first person that introduces me to the Monster Hunter, and like before, he always wears this armor and finishes the game using the same armor, he truly is a Monster Hunter.
I think one of the most interesting points is that you say he's going to fight teostra at the tower, yet he's going with a fire GS, maybe he used to be cocky and fight knowing he was challenging himself? Seems pretty funny how far he's come to say that's what he chose to confront teostra with haha LOVE MHFU AND MHW great work
Well, we don't see him heading towards the Tower in the MHFU intro, but the great forest. That in the distance was a dead tree, not the tower. I don't think you can even see the top of the tower.
The huntsman has been around since MH 1. There was a huntsman that wore rathian armor but lost his spirit. Your character inspired him to continue to hunt and becomes a greater hunter. That huntsman also used a greatsword.
This is so late but The Huntsman was described by game lore as "Master of all close quarter weapons" so it's like a hint that he's the hunter since he's wearing a Blademaster Armor set and he's noted like he switched different blade weapons like a player. And additionally, Huntsman will comment at a Nargacuga Quest noting it as his "Old Friend" like in the intro MHFU where the hunter is out to hunt a Nargacuga.
@@GenshinLover283 Hm? I thought the vid addressed the cadet already? I was referring to our resource lady friend. I stared at her at early launch after quests thinking to myself, "I swear I know you..." I am convinced she's the Ace Gunner of that band of Ace hunters.

As a Hunter starting from the portable titles, I can say we did age well to say that "I'm getting old for this". Just like the Huntsman, I also started as a GS and Hammer user, but as time flies by, I can say that mobility is now relevant when it comes to fast phase monsters making me switch to using the LS and SnS. I can now move a lot more faster but can't deal the same amount of critical damage like GS
My hunter started from greatsword, then switched to long sword in freedom unite and now using switchaxe/charge blade in newer games. I can definitely say that my hunter is also getting too old for this stuff
since MHWorld is the "New World" Island it made sense that everyone from older Monster Hunter come to the "New World" to hunt since there is no big threat in the "Old World" (because you the player clean their threat in the old world)
The tower brings so much nostalgia I remember hunting white fatalis, silver rathalos and gold rathian although the volcano was also pretty hard in the classic games so that’s up for debut the one were red fatalis and akantor appeared.

When it comes to armor no matter how heavy it is if it fits good and breaks in well, your armor becomes a second part of you. Im amazed he wore that armor set for so damned long. Also i remember someone saying that Tower was where the Forbidden Act was held and the elder dragons got mad and from that place started their "war" against the ancients burning down countries.
On his back he carries two swords that have a very striking resemblance to the original monster hunter legendary sword dual wield swords upgrade.(the sword you can pull out of the ground in the village after beating monoblos). So it’s very possible that the huntsman is actually a ode to the very first playable monster hunter character. The fact that he uses a long sword is likely due to it being the most played weapon. So I’ve always felt he was a so called “tip of the hat,” to their oldest fans.
This is what I thought of when the first time I saw the huntsman resembling that rathian armor. It's what you would actually think if you are a player of MH series for a long time. Anoter thing if you don't know yet Rotten Vale is actually the remains of dalamadur from mh4u

Not a LS.
Me when I was 10 in my psp and it was a good build for starters xd
@@joaquinrios1073
Whats your build?
I got a Poison Greataxe SnS when I was 10.
I layered it for real ..., it still look badass back to old gen game, good looking set, good stat set for starter too.
The freedom unite opening doesn't end with the hunter looking at the tower, hes looking at a massive tree trunk found in the the first Grank map you visit, the Ancient Forest. It's also why we see nargacuga at the very end. Why? Because you first encounter Nargacuga in the Ancient forest back in MHFU.
great forrest not ancient. ancient forrest is World
It's kinda bittersweet seeing our old Gen 2 character grow old and help the current character (Gen 5).
I hope we see him again. 😊❤️
He technically gen 1 as he is part of the first fleet
Capcom needs to do something to spread Monster Hunter lore. witch is quite deep.
They use books and ingame text bubbles to deliver lore. The books are sold only in japan sadly, and I believe are only in japanese.
The fact that they already have a book for MHW and Iceborne but only in Japan means they really need to get that content worldwide considering how popular this game is especially in the west now with MHW!
Does someone remember Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild?
It was announced two years ago, but we haven't heard anything about it since then.
Is there ebooks
@@thecyanpanda241 The books are on amazon.jp, and yes, there are kindle versions, if you search for them.
No wonder he's always sitting. Wielding the greatsword for an extended amount of time must've worn out his legs.
8:35 thats not the tower, that is the giant tree located in the map 'great forest'. The top of said tree was also a playable map in MH Frontier.
Thank you,i was a bit trigerred from that
I'm getting flashbacks of the horror of fighting espinas first time.
You were able to go to the top of the tree if you managed to get to the secret area for resources in freedom unite as well.
i was just about to say the same thing.
That just my take and theory about this ^^
According to some in-game dialogue it's actually Rajan- Admiral's palico
@@cressendo yea you're right it's said that it is definitely rajang's palico
Also at the guild hall of MHFU there is one nervous looking and stuttering Palico waiting for his master to return, the "Rats" he mentioned his master was hunting on the dialogue maybe jumbled for "stra" pertaining to Teo-stra, theory

Also in iceborne right before nargacuga if u talk to him he’ll say
“Nargacuga huh the times we had"
Well, if you remember the MHFU opening sequence, at the end of the opening, a Nargacuga approaches the screen before transitioning to the logo. Meaning that's one more solid proof that the Huntsman is the main character in Freedom Unite.
My dude. Dont stop making content like this. As long as there are people here who believe in you. DONT STOP.
The most insulting part about his armor set is that in Iceborne, his armor skills and set bonus is... a material farming set...
Would be nice if it was better.
I use it in the guiding lands. With the slots and a charm I can tweak it to whatever I need. It's my favorite set currently.
When you are an old ass dude who has been hunting monsters for years you dont need attack skills
@@lueboytheman9508 i use kirin set tho, maybe because i have geology and botanist jewel 4+, or is it the set allows u to break the level limit for farming skill?
@@cydzerlight1383 guildworks also comes with foragers luck, honey hunter, the set bonus carving master and good luck. Kirin has good luck too I think. We use pretty much the same skills for farming though. I'm not sure what other skills are on kirin armor because I don't have it but I thought it was an elemental attack set? I'll have to check it out.
What if he kept those old world skills while we get the current one in this game....
Tbh when first time seing the huntsman in mhw i was like this guy looks familiar and after playing the game and seing more cutscenes then it clicked this guy is the dude from mhfu then i research more about him and found this thread in reddit that also suggested it was him.
The blacksmith mentions something along the lines of "That huntsman has worn the same armor for the past 50 years, half of me wants to shake some sense into him, the other half wants to pat his back with respect for it"
The years could be wrong. But essentially, he's worn the same exact armor his entire hunting career.
This is what newer monster hunter players will never understand its nice they did this cause it brings back nostalgia of the unite days
The greatest hunter now sits in the time out chair in the New World
U mean 2nd greatest lol jk, the 5th fleet hunter has him beat now only because of age I guess (and the fact that u are the person controlling them)
@@FuryousD Only because of age.
@@ZAH33D I said that
Yup even the temporal mantle is made based on the Huntsman
His helmbreaker on Velkhana was beautiful even though it missed
Ehh it kinda hit? It hit the ice wall it created so that’s close enough I guess?
I always think Huntsman is similar to my brother since he's the first person that introduces me to the Monster Hunter, and like before, he always wears this armor and finishes the game using the same armor, he truly is a Monster Hunter.
I think one of the most interesting points is that you say he's going to fight teostra at the tower, yet he's going with a fire GS, maybe he used to be cocky and fight knowing he was challenging himself? Seems pretty funny how far he's come to say that's what he chose to confront teostra with haha LOVE MHFU AND MHW great work
He probably thought "Screw it, challenge is a challenge" and just went with it lol
Well, we don't see him heading towards the Tower in the MHFU intro, but the great forest. That in the distance was a dead tree, not the tower. I don't think you can even see the top of the tower.
If memory serves me right the scratches on his helmet we're done by a teostra, before velkana I mean.
Damn that kill in the end was clean af
This guy, CHADMIRAL, and serious Handler. Only NPCs worth caring about.
And maybe the hot resource director in Seliana.

Really great stuiff. Freedom Unite was my first Monster Hunter experience, and holds some of, if not my absolute favorite memories of any video game. I love learning little continuity "secrets" like this. Honestly so glad that MHW pulled me back into these games after I bought Tri for the bundled Wii controller and got my ass handed to me back in the day. Now I'm going through as many titles as I can and re-learning all the old control schemes just because I'm invested in the monsters and people that haven't made it to the New World..

I like to believe he has his old Great Sword displayed at his home, as an additional reminder of his younger glory days
Damn, the Pokke's village theme is the best soundtrack because it's so nostalgic, because of that I started playing mhfu on my psp again after 6 years
And don't forget, in the meeting hall from mhfu you can chat with a palico that tells you it's waiting for his master to come back and he was one of the best hunters from that village too, sadly I think he never came back :(
Even after all these years, hearing Master Rank instead of G-Rank is trippy.
I wonder that he felt the pain of the hip-check of Plesioth...

It's been a while that I was searching some answers about him, nice job hunter !
I'm a old gen hunter when i tried mhgu my happiness is on the top when those hitboxes are fixed. I always says "i could've died if this is mhfu" everytime i almost got hit.
It gets... annoying, when you’re trying to do damage and the monster is dancing around like a pixie on crack.
My hunter started from greatsword, then switched to long sword in freedom unite and now using switchaxe/charge blade in newer games. I can definitely say that my hunter is also getting too old for this stuff
since MHWorld is the "New World" Island it made sense that everyone from older Monster Hunter come to the "New World" to hunt since there is no big threat in the "Old World" (because you the player clean their threat in the old world)
Mhfu was a pure nostalgia trip. I remember the good times I had while playing on the psp
The tower brings so much nostalgia I remember hunting white fatalis, silver rathalos and gold rathian although the volcano was also pretty hard in the classic games so that’s up for debut the one were red fatalis and akantor appeared.

He did. The Smithy actually says during the base game that the Huntsman is still clinging to his Blademaster Armor which is an armor from the Old World!
Yes and no, you'd need special permit to bring stuff. To quote the handler "I know, no bringing stuff" or something like that. To keep the natural order of life. That Longsword gameplay was clean. And with a nice finishing touch at the end.
Also the way he uses his longsword is like a hybrid longsword/greatsword playstyle
In mhfu some long sword tree can start with the great sword, giving further evidence to his great sword background.
I wonder where his old friends are, really cool to think that previous hunters might reapper or have lore of their own
Im just waiting for the reintroduction of the retired hunter in mhfu, the caravaneer, and other members of aiden's group including the commander
Genuinely the freedom untie intro will forever be my favorite into ever
I can't believe it. That kid from the Pokke village really grew up a lot. I knew he had it in him, I'm proud.
The ace cadet being the excitable a lister was obvious but I didn’t know about the young hunter. I really like this connected lore
