Thanks for the great videos, I have a Fisher & Paykel WASHSMART 8.5KG Serial No, WA8560G1, was having issues with out of balance on spin cycle and noisy tub bearings. Replaced the suspension rods (non genuine), replaced the tub bearings (non genuine) cleaned the tub and drum thoroughly, reassembled and levelled fully with a small spirit level on the designated surfaces. Mostly very good now however still occasionally goes into the OOB code with different size loads? spin speed is set at 700rpm. I did notice the bias spring does not have a lot of tension, worth replacing as well? Thanks in advance
There isn't meant to be much tension on the bias spring so it wont be that. is it actually going out of balance before the code comes up or does the code come before it even starts to spin?
@@mikecoventon8217 Are the clothes all uneven when that happens or pretty good? If you select manual water level too high for the load the clothes won't drop even, best to use auto. If load is pretty even and it is "Picky" then most of the time it is suspension. I've never used aftermarket so not sure what they are like. If the bowl shakes around a lot even when no load it may have leaked water from the balance rings.
@@motrepairs Thanks Dan, seems to be "picky" I replaced the rods first and it worked perfectly. A number of weeks later I replaced the bearing kit and in the process had the bowl and tub upside down for a thorough cleaning, is there any way to refill the balance rings?
@@mikecoventon8217 They are sealed so turning it upside down shouldn't do anything. I have had a couple of that series play up with out of balance at low speeds after bearings changes, maybe do again and try and find some low friction bearings.
Evening mate, quick question for you, we have a f&p 10kg fabric smart top loader, keeps saying out of balance on spin cycle, Took the pump out and cleaned and checked it’s working and is as it dumps the water, but I bypassed the lid lock switch and watched the bowl, when it starts to get up to speed it starts to run eccentric and trips the out of balance function, also have checked the bowl hangers and they appear to be ok, what am missing? Usually that means you need new suspension rods, as the dampening will be worn out. It can be hard to tell if you aren't used to looking at lots of machines. Or it can be just one rod worn, in which case you still need to replace the set. Other thing it could be is if the water has leaked out of the top balance ring.

Yeah I've seen this a few times. On these out of balance is detected by the motor controller monitoring the motor current. Some times has turned out to be the display board rather then the motor controller.
Hi Great video. I'm mucking about with mine which is giving a "no tap" error, seemingly intermittently. But the water is working fine, it fills up. no Fault codes as per this method. I cleaned the filters in the inlet, the pipes are all good and the drain is up nice and high. My mind went to level sensor but the level changes in the diagnostic menu when accessed whilst its running. any suggestions?
Does it stop filling before the code come up or fill right up until it faults? If the latter Check the end of your drain hose is higher then the high water level. If it’s too low it can siphon out as the machine is filling.
Hiya Dan, I have this exact same model bought second hand from a trusted reseller company. Have put my first load in and it is making a slight knocking sound only when filling & agitating. Doesn’t make the noise whilst spinning. Is this normal or if not, Any ideas on what the issue could be please?
If its starting to spin up, shaking around, then stopping it may be suspension rods. If it is the same series as in this video (capacitive touch pads not small "soft-touch" buttons) then we have had issues with them going "out of balance" before they even start to spin properly (drum turning at lid lock speed). This can be caused by a number of things including the Motor controller or display.

Hey mate, my display was making random beeping noises then all of a sudden only beep powers on and then goes dead, do you think it’s the display panel or the main pcb controller, cheers !
Check your inlet hose connections at the back of the machine aren't dripping, and make sure to use correct water level or auto and not too high for the load size, then call F&P because it will be under warranty.
Hi. Am not getting any warning codes yet but the part that recycles the water back into the tub (thru pipe above drum on right side) is only trickling out instead of flowing out freely. Any suggestions?
Hi Dan, In another diagnostic video you mention downloading error data to a PC from blinking light; I researched a bit and now want to buy a diagnostic pen and source software for it. Need it for top loaders like MW511, 613. Any idea where I can get one? (I'm a newbie hobby fixer)
They were only available to FP authorised service agents, and the stopped making the pens back in the 2010's even though the machines continued to support it.
Hi Dan My elderly neighbour has this model. I was wondering if you could steer me in a direction to why the machine won't spin. It goes through a rinse cycle (Spin mode) and starts at 13min. Stays on 13min while filling, and then rinses. Once this is done I can't seem to hear it transition into spin and just start filling again (no clothes in it) Turn it off and theaxhine will drain all the water out before locking the lid and starting again. Long story short it won't go into spin but drains most the water out before having to be switched off and then back on to drain out. Any help would be much appreciated Cheers
@@bleednova Is it stopping and beeping with any messages if you leave it long enough? We have had some problems with this series with false "out of balance" faults, but not a simple one to solve so you will probably need an experienced tech sorry.
I serviced my washer with a 39 error code on the weekend, 3 years of hard bore water deposits a scrud on drum and tub. I cleaned a reassembled 5 hour scalex (sulfamic acid) soak, all seemed okay except now get 249 fault after pumping out all water then pump runs and times out (I think) with 249 error with out spinning, removed drain pump checked was clean, flushed drain hose and recirc and blew through pressure tube to ensure was clear, not sure what else to check, does the controller adapt over time and need a factory reset?

Have put second load in this morning thinking it may have been uneven hence the knocking sound but it is still making the same noise
Pretty impossible to say without hearing it sorry, best bet is to go back to who you bought it from.

Not a common fault so couldn't say sorry, you will probably need a technician to check voltages and resistances

Probably a blockage, either in the diverter valve or pump inlet, or maybe the tube.

I get a Too Ful 02 warning if I select the softener function. The softener doesn't work to flow water 🌊 through it.

Do you have a diagnostic guide for a WA1068g2?
You may be able to find manual for a similar model on google, often "filetype:pdf" can help. F&P doesn't freely release them unfortunately.

@@davidmclellan3416 No there is no controller reset. Maybe check that the pump isn't overheating and going open circuit when it stops
@ I got a service manual from a former colleague and tested the resistance across all three poles at 15.9ohms
