Sgt. Cole is an amazing vocalist! NONE of the big name pop starts making the big bucks today could do anything like this; it's too far beyond them. Kudos, Sergeant.
I realize more and more that a lot of these pop singers are actually pretty well-versed in music theory, composition and different styles, but just choose to make simple music to appeal to a bigger audience
@@simonlutgens "but just choose to make simple music to appeal to a bigger audience"
I think that's why they bore me so much.
Thank you! It was great making music with the Ambassadors!
THIS is the best use of our tax dollars I can imagine.
We need bigger military bands
ㅇㅈ
@@Xavia_DimoffI think we need more, not bigger. I like the ensemble balance here a lot
Bro, thanks for paying for me cause I'm brazilian and I can enjoy it for free. 😂

FANTASTIC BAND AND SINGER AND YOU CAN TELL SHE HAS BEEN LISTENING TO ANITA O'DAY!
Geez, these guys are so good
Thanks so much!
Isn't spring your favorite season
Watchin' the flowers bloomin' up from the ground
Watchin' the snow melt down, boy
You may dig winter, boy, but spring is my joy
It's got me feelin' so glad
The days are breezy
You've got the time to say "hello" and give a smile
Feelin' real good is in style
You may dig winter, boy
But spring is my joy
It's something special
Haven't you observed
It makes glad to be alive
It's not absurd
To say that spring helps you survive
The winter's long miserable snow and rain
It gives you hope to know
That spring will get a refrain
You only have to believe
The day is comin'
The world is hummin'
Thinkin' about how good it will be
And that goes double for me
You may dig winter, boy, but spring is my joy

These guys have wrong day job!
This IS their day job!
This is a song that has been ruined by vocalese
Next time don't send bombs, send jazz.
Didn't know that Military could play excellent Jazz !
Mark Mark yes! Actually each branch of the military has their own band(s), and every player is world class. Most of them have doctorates in music and what not, it’s very rare to see a young person in there

@Hatake: Thank you. It's so good to see the lyrics and so have time to reflect on them - and on St Clifford (seriously).
Whom the gods love die young.
Wow!!!! This band is swinging soooo hard. Can someone tell me the cymbals model the drummer is using please?. Thank you.

Wow is right! Brings a smile to your face. Fantastic unison scatting!
Wow, wow, wow... That Is some great scat singing. Very professional orchestra as well.
I've heard about about 50 versions of this standard, and this is my favorite. Fantastic performance! Damn! (Do I need to mention that I'm an Army veteran? No bias here! LoL)
The soli at 2:01 is a brilliant piece of writing!
this is an area where America dominates without destruction and other collaterals. Great army band.
What a joy to hear more postings from these wonderful Musical Ambassadors! One of the Great things in the US Army has to offer the world.
Ms Cole is fantastic! The band is so dynamic, and this chart is swingin'! Nice job
Such clean tones, and warm voice.
Keep on rolling on
I am blown away! Great band and amazing vocalist!
2:00 when i started appreciating the art of a sax
Fabulous arrangement, and Alexis Cole is kicking it!
Wow!!! What a great rendition of a great song!! Well done and kudos to Sgt. Major Arcangel for an excellent arrangement!!! Outstanding vocalist and trumpet solo.
It's all in the bass player, for me. He's cool. I love this cut, thanks for posting, you ALL were superb ! Peace.
I was taken aback! These people are phenomenal!!
1:26 Reville!!! Nice touch, especially in a military band
I'm learning Clifford Brown's solo on tenor sax and I love it :)
Angus Fraser Harold Land
Love it Alexis! super Band, super Singer!
Listening from heaven, St Clifford is very pleased.
Excuse me while I dry my tears.
Great band, great singer!
That walking bass makes this come alive, he's fantastic.
United States Army Field Band...YOU ARE FANTASTIC. Hats off to Ms. Cole for your improvisation - and unison scat with the Band. Bravo!
Thank you! So much fun to play with the Ambassadors!
I really dig those uniforms. GO ARMY.
That's a great Big Band ,,Sarge has nice scat chorus in unison with band . If The U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors ever in the San Francisco ,Bay Area I'd definitely make the effort check them out ! The first time I heard this very tight band was on Dizzy Gillespie Jazz Opus "Things To Come " note perfect with great soloist , anything this great and I mean great Big Band plays is a tight as a military man bunk bed 😉
Kicking out the jams with military precision. Tight!
This Is THE REAL GREATNESS OF THE US of A. Thank you guys you certainly honor my dad a WWII US ARMY VET who loved jazz and swing..
I can imagine WWII vets like your dad and my grandfather loving this type of performance back in the 1940s.
Jazz is the most American music

Excellent band, arrangement, singing!! Great voice! Fun!
Wow! This is 2017, right? This could have been 1937!
A Physics Professor if it was it would have been about 2 decades before this song was written...
Excellent arrangement and top-notch musicianship!
Congratulations !!!!!!!!

The United States Army Field Band gives a show of brass bands and with a sensational singer. The cult of Jazz is a matter of quality music. Since I was a child I have seen American warships, here in Guanabara Bay, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and always enjoyed watching it on TV TUPI. Jazz in the Armed Forces reminds us of the late Glenn Miller and Orchestra. Congratulations
Never knew this had words...

Ms. Alexis Cole is the best
Thank you!
what an amazing band - and what a singer!!!😃
Maintenant j'aime l'armée! Now i love army ! Fabulous ! Thank's from France !!!
Her voice is great but the smooth sound of that brass nearly made me cry.
A great cover of the Manhattan Transfer arrangement of a great song. Thanks to the Jazz Ambassadors for this. Well done!
I love it! But I don't think this is based on the Manhattan Transfer, theirs is actually "Sing Joy Spring" with its own lyrics and such. Stellar music all around!
Very nice performance! One of my favorite tunes! Who was the arranger!! Bravo!!
Glad you liked it! Sgt. Major (ret.) Scott Arcangel was the arranger.
hermosa cantante,hermosa cancion
When I hear this kind of jazz I feel like the guy who threw his sax down the river after seeing Bird`s performance ...
What a great band! And a great singer.
¡ Genial !
Perfect!! A lot of hard work went into that.
Completely class act all around, this is a joy to listen to :)
Congratulations.
Let’s see the army of the PRC do THAT !
Super cool ♫♪♫♫ Great Drumming and Fabulous Bassist.♫♪♫♫ From Brooklyn, New York. (January 25th.,2024)

Why don't you like listening to jazz?
...Music I'm glad to have heard! Thank you!...

👏👏👏🎶🎶🎶
this is so good! how have I only found it now?
Great, great, great!!!!!!!!
clifford brown
Long live Clifford!!!!
Superb.
All round great stuff...so impressed👌
Thanks so much!
Wow!!!!!!!😃
Great job! Great voice, scat and phrasing! Who is attributed to these lyrics on your sheet music? Don't think it's Jon Hendricks, he wrote the lyrics to the version Manhattan Transfer recorded in 1985; the Real Group and others recorded this lyric version in Sweden around 1987.
I've asked around - if I get an answer, I'll write back. All I can find is "written by the Real Group". Good ears, Barbara!
I had contacted the Real Group previously, whose members have changed over the years - they thought it was Jon Hendricks. Is no lyricist attributed on your charts?

@@ArmyFieldBand WOW thanks so much for supplying the lyrics! I was hoping I could learn who the author of them is though? I'm doing a deep study on this chart and any lyrics versions and authors are very important to me as a singer!
