STACKS IN THE NORTHLAND! More CN detours with X453 and Q149 (Feb 14, 2020)

- The Canadian National train detours continue, with a few intermodal double stack trains thrown in the mix. First I catch X453 (manifest with lots of autoracks) enter North Bay from the south. Later we catch a Q149 (Montreal to Chicago) reroute come down the Ontario Northland line, where it will interchange with CN in North Bay and continue south to BIT. It is a refreshing sight to see this kind of freight roll through the area once again!
Locomotives:
X453
CN 2899 - GE ES44AC (4400 HP)
CN 3207 - GE ET44AC Tier 4 (4400 HP)
Q149
CN 2684 - GE C44-9W (4400 HP)
CN 2629 - GE C44-9W (4400 HP)
WAIT .. SAY WHAT?????????? (6:42) Q149
That's crazy they are double stacking up there!
Cheers, J
I was actually considering driving up from Toronto to check this out - doubtful we'll ever see this again.
That snow looks cooling - what we need in Queensland Australia
I live just over 2 hours North of North Bay and I saw that stack reroute in my town. It was -40 that morning. Definetly cooling
Great video and great catches. Two days for the 149 from here to North Bay with the detour, it went by on Feb 12 in the afternoon
Thanks Andre! That's a long trip around the detour for sure! I guess they gotta do whatever it takes to get the priority freight through, and we aren't complaining 😎
@@northernontariorails3414 I heard that the Senneterre yard is full.... I guess the major problem is to find crews to operate all these detours, and there are some 'limitations' with the length of sidings also ;-)
Bad ass man. If I wasn't 3 hours away I would be up there haha! I'm roughly 25 min from the CN Kingston sub and everywhere you go there's trains completely stopped
Thanks! It's nice to have this kind of traffic up here, without having to take a trip to find it lol. We essentially traded spots 😁
Nice.
Thanks :)
