    This game was so ahead of its time, there hasn't been anything like this game since. I really wish they would remake this game

      10 years ago it was so painful working with Wizards that BioWare did their own IP, Dragon Age. And now it's way WAAAY worse working with anything D&D related.

      Solasta:Crown of the Magister is pretty similar (though 5e so worse ruleset) in terms of the DM mode and multiplayer. You might want to look that up.

    I was planning on using this to play with my regular DM group! As a change of pace I began playing with them BG 1 in MP mode and it has been a blast. I think they would love something like this as well!

      There's a lot more control and options in Neverwinter Nights for DMs, and even more coop campaigns as players. So I'd say they'd love it too!

    i used to be a DM on a server back in the day, improvising quests, acting out NPCs and giving out exp was way more fun than playing the game normally lol

      What was the server? There's a few from the early days that were updated to the Enhanced Edition.

    Been there, done that. On LAN, for my friends (coworkers actually) and on a persisten world server. I love NWN but i think i enjoyed DMing even more. Starting our gaming meeting and beginning to play i've always had that general idea for a main quest for them but adding random encounters here and there and roleplaying some chars for added immersions. Great times!
    Rogue: Guys, stop! Just freeze!
    Party: What? What happened?
    Rogue: Err.. i i disarmed a trap but i think we stepped on another one...
    Party: Really? Where?
    (whole party in the middles of red square)
    Rogue: Just dont breath, just don...
    "Traps within a traps" quest, in Amulet of Zeran module on our LAN network. Around 2004 or 2005 i belive. This was 20 years ago. I don't belive that. I remember most of those adventures in NWN.
    What is it Łotrzyk? :-)

      I never really DM'd much at all during the earlier NWN days but I'm glad you guys had such a fun time! Also never heard of Amulet of Zeran before.

      @@MartyLaBish That mod is neat simple hack & slash dungeon crawler type of modules. But its nice base to add DMing and RP elements later, during sessions.

    DMing is so hard in NWN. I often found inconsistencies in the speed at which your units would spawn or engage in attack and it was difficult to make them disengage. You end up terrified you are going to wipe out a party, particularly when there are harsh difficulty penalties. I put a lot of thought into DMing but found it more stressful than anything else and reverted to playing.

    • @MartyLaBish
      @MartyLaBish  Рік тому +1

      It took me some time to get used to it, especially on this server with all the custom commands and CR of creatures. I do enjoy playing a little more than DMing for less stress too, not having to worry about player choices or story building.

    Why is everything blurred?

    • @MartyLaBish
      @MartyLaBish  2 роки тому +7

      To prevent metagaming for people that play on the server. I probably could have left some things viewable but just for ease of editing and making sure the behind-the-scenes stuff stay behind the scenes I just blurred out those windows.

    hi, i made a module with the aurora toolset, but i can figure out how to upload it so that my friends can play it, ide also like to do what youve done here in this video, basically being an invisible dm in the world that follows them and narates and creates random encounters while they're playing the world i built. can you make a video explaining how to upload a module youve made and how to join the game as a dm please.

    • @MartyLaBish
      @MartyLaBish  6 місяців тому

      I'm probably not the most qualified person to answer this, honestly. I don't really create and upload my own modules, I just DM a server that someone else did all the work on. Having said that I'm guessing the way to do this is:
      1. Give the .mod file to your friends and place it in the 'modules' folder in your NWN My Documents. You can probably use something like Google Drive or some other online storage to upload the mod and send it to them. (Make sure they have any necessary files that you used in the module like CEP)
      2. Start the server either through the DM Client or the NWServer file, where you can choose which mod to play along with a bunch of other options. Choosing to start via DM Client you'll have to be in-game for the server to run. If you log out the server will shut down. Choosing to start via NWServer will create a dedicated server, meaning it will run even if you're not in-game since it'll be running in the background. You should be able to find both files in whatever folder you installed NWN in (not in your NWN My Documents but the installation location). If you run the server by NWServer you can log in through the DM Client to play as DM

    • @MartyLaBish
      @MartyLaBish  Рік тому

      Never had that happen to me before. If you google it maybe you'll find a solution. Or you can always try and delete your NWN folder in My Documents and run the game for it to make a new folder. You'd probably have to move any local saves/characters so you don't lose them if you do that.

      Get the Enhanced Edition if you don't have it yet. That's where all the multiplayer is now. It's often on sale for $5.
