I have tried all three let me tell you my opinion. 1) XM4 are bass heavy out of the box compared to M4 and especially compared to XM5. 2) People say XM4 doesn't have a high range but you can always adject it in EQ(i was using OnePlus 8T so i was using Dolby Atmos EQ). When i tried to increase the bass in XM5, the sound started to crack. M4 has good tight bass but not as much as XM4 3) In the ANC department XM4 & XM5 destroy M4. Personally, i can't differentiate between XM4 & XM5. 4) In microphone voice quality XM5 is best. Then XM4 and at last M4. 5) XM4 feels little loss. When you move your head it feels like it can fall down. The M4 has a little bit of a tight grip. XM5 has the best feel while wearing it. 6) Believe me don't go for LDAC s**t. In real life you can't notice any difference if you are using a music subscription having 320kbps quality (personally i tried tidal also and not very very slight difference in some songs when we especially look for it). 7) M4 sound feel like it surround your ears while XM5 and especially XM4 feel like sound is through directly to your ear. 8) Battery life is as individual specifications. Final verdict: See, you are only looking for great sound quality or great battery life then go for M4. For good sound quality and great ANC go for XM5(when i increased the bass in EQ it started cracking between 20-60HZ, don't know if this was an issue with my device or universal). Finally, if you are looking for great ANC and Bass heavy sound quality go for XM4(Note: you can always increase high end in EQ but you can't increase "clean bass without distortion" in EQ without compromising mid and high). Hope it helps 🙂
Great video guys! It's so cool to compare so many different sound samples. Maybe for the next time you do this, put more time stamps so that we can bounce back and forth from sample to sample easier. I know that's a lot of work but it would make this type of video A+++++ As for best, I liked the Android with Sony's and iPhone with Sennheisers best. Thanks so much.
Sony: Fairly neutral, jack of all trades, good at everything, somewhat intimate soundstage, excellent at nothing Bose: Neutral, bright, decent soundstage. Pretty harsh, sibilant, and less detailed Airpods: Fairly neutral with subbass boost, great bass and treble extension, wide soundstage, good detail/resolution + clarity + separation + layering, slightly unnatural timbre Sennheiser: Warmer, lush tuning, very dynamic/punchy, somewhat intimate soundstage, good detail, very full, amazing timbre
Excellent job guys! Just a small suggestion from me: when testing the new model, how about putting the samples first and then comparing it to the rivals? Great job nonetheless. Cheers!
Can you guys hear the instrument separation/layering/slightly more holographic imaging on the Momentum 4? I wonder if that was at full "Aptx Adaptive High Rez" on or just "Aptx". There is so much potential in the Momentum 4 imo
Is funny like everyone is placing different headphones in different places. It shows you that the best is to listen for yourself before buying as everyone is different and like different sound.
Thanks very much. Good that I found this. I ordered the Senheiser Momentum 4 right after watching your video and I've been testing them for a day and I am not disapointed so far. No matter the song I am listening, they sound right to me. Major improvement over the Beats Studio 3 that I have.
They all sounded great to be honest, but i felt off on the Bose sounds bright yet neutral. XM5 has more transparency, more in your head, M4 energetic, ok/good sound stage, Airpods Max great sound stage, especially listening to Jazz, it felt live, yet the vocals didn't sound natural and more recessed in emotion. M4 really sounds more natural than the predecessor M3
Thanks for your effort in putting together this video. The Senns and the Max stand out for me. While all of these headphones fall short in many areas and excel in others, the headphones mentioned above do a better job at giving you a better balance of all frequency ranges. In the end, I would probably pick the Senns. Kudos to Sony though. It's pretty well-rounded but it's overly dynamic and way too V-shaped for my taste. And the Bose! I can't explain it but it has this weird lower midrange/upper bass suck-out as if there's a section of the frequency band that's missing. Very strange. Anyway, thank you, gentlemen. Well done.
I thought I was loosong my hearing when I bought bose qc45 at launch, or I thought I got a fake unit!. Glad you described my experience with it untill I eventually finally sold it away. What a relief. The worst sound ever I heard from a bose. The qc35 were stellar, compared to qc45. Thanks for pointing this out
As far as sound is concerned choosing between them is like splitting hairs. Cannot go wrong with any of them. Heck you could even add Bowers and Wilkins to the mix for good measure.
I would buy one at a time and if you don't like the sound return them and get a different pair. I personally do not like how the Sony 1000xm5's sound so I'm going to get the Sennheiser momentum 4.
Thank you for the sound samples. My take - For vocals, watching movies and showd and songs where yoh need vocal forwardness = Bose NC For hard rock, powerful bass, and widest soundstage = Sennheiser Momentum For overall balanced and good performance including good bass, good soundstage and decent vocals = Sony XM 5
I have the Airpods Max, Sony 1000XM3, Bose 700, QC 35 ii, Bose wireless QC Earbuds, and Pansonic s500w earbuds for myself and for my family. I never had a chance to test them side by side on the REAL flight until last month while I was traveling with my family. We were on the Boeing 767, and that plane was EXTREMELY noisy. I did not take the Max with me for the weight reason. And the BEST of them all in the REAL situation is ... the QC35. and the differences were VERY noticeable. The QC 35 stood out. My wife also said the Bose QC35 was the best immediately. Needless to say, I was shocked. On the other flight with the Airbus 330, the differences were small. Next time I will compare the QC 35 to the Airpod Max.
Nice. Im glad im not the only one who collects around here. I own the following BOSE QC35 II Gaming Edition BOSE QC45 BOSE 700 Sony XM4 Sony XM5 B&W PX7 S2 Focal Bathys Mark Levinson 5909 Mark Levinson are my fav and second being Focal Bathys [I will be buying the Sennheiser Momentum 4 soon]
Thanks so much for the comparison! And I like your sample choice, they cover everything to do a good comparison. Listening on my Sennheiser PXC 550, the results are pretty much what I expected: I like the frequency response of the XM5 best, but it messes with imaging and is missing some detail and upper treble response. Bose is missing bass punch and has some artificial upper mids. The AirPods Max are surprisingly weak in upper mids/presence but a bit sharp in the treble, also they have slightly too much bass. The Momentum 4 have one major weakness, but I think, this is easy to fix: Way too much bass. Other than that, the soundstage, imaging, detail and instrument separation is phenomenal, no comparison to any of the contenders! Presence can be a bit sharp, but okay. My ranking: For me, the Momentum 4 are the clear winner, the XM5 2nd, the AirPods Max 3rd and the Bose 700 4th. It would be great if you could adjust the loudness of the recordings for a fair comparison. The Sonys sounded louder, the Sennheisers quieter in comparison. But maybe you did and because of the Momentum's strong bass, they ended up quieter in the upper frequencies. I would have loved to have the Technics EAH-A800 in the comparison mix, maybe also the B&W PX7 S2. Those are the other models I consider upgrading to.
I've PXC550 too. I've spent way to much time on making my decision should I pick next Momentum 3 or 4. I don't have means to try them both before purchase, and can't make my mind. I think from tests listened on PXC550 that Momentum 3 overall sound better, but M4 do have more features and presumably are more comfortable (but that's very subjective to every individual). As PXC550 owner I'm good with touch controls, sometimes I do something by accident when adjusting headphones or some peace of clothing, but I can live with that. I do often business travels, including flying, if both M4 and M3 are better then PXC550 then its great, as I was okay with them but it could be better on next headphones I will own. Regarding battery life PXC550 was enough for me but some times on whole day trips on edge. So having less time on M3 seems slightly worrying while on M4 battery problems are litteraly non existent. I can't find anywhere comparison on how much M4 sound can be fixed with custom EQ profile vs M3 custom. In other words after tuning are their somewhat compareable or there is still a gap after tuning on both.
@@michup86 I'd recommend the M4 based on what you said (if you want to upgrade - the PXC 550 are still great, but mine broke). The sound is not better and not worse than the M3, just tuned a little differently in the bass (more emphasis on lower bass, less on mid/upper bass), but both the M3 and M4 sound better than the PXC 550 (more detail and soundstage, clearer mids and treble). However, the M4 are far more travel friendly than the M3 with their sturdy flat case and far longer battery life. Operation is very similar to the PXC 550.
You need to remember apple only supports AAC and the airpods max are tuned specifically for that codec. These headphones sound different on aptx, ldac or aptx adaptive
Listening through headphones it sound like the xm5 alright on you ear and the others are like on your shoulder. I mean the fullness isn’t even close if that is really the case
can I ask if there is a real reason that the EQ on the XM5 is just WAY louuder in these tests? reason I ask is that the S-M4W max volume (on auditioning) seems to be a bit low. is this just a function of Sony's default over-boosted bass?
I feel like the bose were best for acoustic, jazz, and classical. But i felt that the SM4 was a close 2nd and took first place for me in metal and EDM. I primarily listen to rock and metal so I'll probably be picking up the SM4's. The only issue i felt with the bose was i heard a static (probably from ANC) in the background when the music was more "airy?" Idk what a good term is to describe it.
4) Bose NC700 (too sibilant) 3) Sony WH-1000 XM5 (not enough treble extension) 2) Sennheiser Momentum 4 (good enough extension, some warmth in the mid-bass, a bit sibilant) 1) Airpods Max (good extension, clean mid-bass, not harsh, a bit recessed in the upper mids) Of course, I'm pretty sure all of these have some form of EQ, so hopefully they'll sound better when you customize them to your liking. IMO, better to focus on their features/ANC/comfort rather than the sound if you're looking to buy something in this price range.
wonderful test guys , thank u. from ur test i get to know everybody have a different set of ear, whenever u buy earphones always get test/demo accordingly from the shop. to me sony and airpods were best , to some they arent.
XM5- a little boxy everything else - either painful or just weird in the high end EQ can do tone shaping but it's impractical to target really sharp dips & spikes in frequency response. XM5 sounds smoothest in the treble by far. They also have the best ANC so they seem like an obvious pick.
i don't recommend Bose nc700 at all Instead, I suggest Bose qc45 and xm5. It is very difficult to say which one is better between these two, both are wonderful.
Thank for the samples. I was surprised to find out that xm5 for my ear in the first three category sounds the least more satisfying than 700, let alone Max. Really educating.
On this test for some obscure reason the airpods max sounds pretty bad (probably because it hasn't been placed on balanced tone in the settings or the sound head which has trouble with the shape of the app headset Apple) because in real life the airpods max sounds better than all these headphones, the xm5 sounds like it in the test as in real life and the Bose too so I assume that Sennheiser also sounds like that In my opinion the boses are in 4th, its clearly dated, it feels like the headphones are from 2019... The 3rd position is for the sony xm5 which actually sounds pretty bad for the price, but compared to Bose and the Xm4 from sony also these xm5s are much better, second to the Sennheiser which is doing well on the classic, but still a long way before reaching the airpods max. Especially on the edm q Which is rough and mixed which is incomprehensible and penalizes an entire style of music... The airpods max is therefore my top 1. On this test it does not sound as good as in real life However, I refused to take this airpods max because I already had the xm4 intras which are excellent in terms of audio and old (old equivalent to Apple headphones) so I saw no intee Interest in buying the same ANC as my intras especially since the headphones I only use at home. I have long searched for a wireless headphone with sound superior to apple. I found it x) it's the Yamaha yh e700a (and l700a if you like yamaha-style spatial audio). This Yamaha corrects the sound defects of the airpods max, the basses of the apple are too algorithmic? the Yamaha gives the most natural bass possible, the highs of the airpods max are a little tight? The Yamaha makes them wide and immersive, the voices are excellent on the 2 headphones, the medium is sensitive Absolutely identical. The Yamaha soundstage is a little wider and more developed, but that's mainly because Yamaha is the pioneer of audio spatialization. 60% The ANC power of the airpods max). I use this Yamaha every day and the only headphones that are superior to it are wired headphones over 1000 euros which Sounds like we're on another planet. If you want an excellent and great sounding old package for 500 euros or max airpods dollars, my Sony wf1000xm4 and Yamaha combo cost me more (600 euros) in the end, each one has its use.
For my own listening taste ... Sennheiser , Airpod Max , Sony and then Bose ....but Bose will sound better for Podcast and rock music ...the rest will sound great for movies.. ofcourse if you can play with the EQ and you know what you doing ..you can make an argument for any of them...Bose treble is a little too bright for my taste. ..but that's some people jam...for just strictly music listening pleasure ...you will enjoy music mostly with the Sennheiser across all genres of music
@@DHRME 1more evo atm. Not a reference unit, but still. Oh, and not sharp I meant in a good way, like not hurting my ears. Some overturned bad quality headphones do.
I think something to note for the Momentum 4’s is that based on other reviews the sensors on the momentum 4s are really good, I don’t know what kind of setup was done to record the Momentum 4s but. I was really underwhelmed by the Momentum 4s at least based on these recordings
Yeah I actually tried the xm5 and m4 in-store today. I was super surprised to find that the m4 actually sound really sh*t imo… everyone’s saying that they sound so good but for some reason, that’s not the case for me…
The sound reproduced on this video by the M4 is no where closer to the original sound reproduced by the headphones. I’d rather suggest people to test them out in person.
I listened to them once and to me, they sounded decent, but a little boring and flat. Better than different Bose and Sony XM4, but not as good as my old PXC-550. But they're often on sale, for around 180€ it should be a great value!
I listened this on Bose NC 700 and I liked the Sennheiser M4 sound from the video...but if I am listening on Bose, did I like them or the m4..hear-ception lol :D Add Technics eah-a800 - incredible sound stage, mids and highs...but lacking lows. Bose lacks lower frequencies and soundstage (not by listening to these samples but listening to them on daily basis). Waiting for Sennheiser...
Sennheiser and Airpods Max are the only ones to reproduce imaging details which were otherwise lost. Sound signature wise none of them are what could be called accurate and I didn’t prefer the vocals in either of them as compared to Blessing 2s which I’m listening on. However, Sennheiser and Airpods trade blows in sound signatures where as technical performance wise I felt the speed was the only distinguishable factor in whcih momemtum 4 performed better. Anyway you don’t buy these to listening to music. I use my blessing 2 and cup them with airpods max on the airplane😅😅😅.
My rankings Sennheiser Airpods Sony Well ...bose just sounds shrill and tiny unexciting. Sony's came alive on Android, I'm guessing it's the LDAC, The airpods sounds more natural and rather beautiful. The Sennheiser are more analytical
AirPods max shines in classical, jazz Sony shined as usual with dance & hard rock Momentum 4 -> what’s with it… it didn’t shine anywhere By the way, I listened with my PXC II Bose is good but i could listen to treble frequencies a lot than others in hard rock & dance, May be because of less bassy compared to others in the list. Whatever I still want to keep my Bose nc700, it’s stylish sleek look isn’t allowing me to look after other wireless headphones….end of the day everyone listens to tidal, UA-cam, Spotify -> you can picky anyone from the list end of the day…

on the iphone the xm5 was the best. on the android the bose 700 was the best. the airpod max had a wider stereo sound, the momentum didnt move me. the xm5 felt louder in the iphone. overall i would prefer the bose because i use an android.
You know its so stupid for me to see other people select headphones meanwhile me on the other end eq the headphones like a pro If you are using the android go for the wh1000xm5 If you have an apple device go for the sennheiser momentum 4 This is only if you have good sense of equalizing
1-M4, richest and fullest sound, but too expensive. NOT SURE BOUT THE ANC THO, ANC ON MTW2 WAS SUPER DUPER BAD 2-XM5, exactly no upgrade in SQ depatment over XM4 3-NC700, very natural sound but need to be more energetic Winner-Get the discounted XM4 for 200 USD hehehe.. especially when you can get the limited white version
I felt like this: Sony is the less neutral sound, fairly aimed at soliciting emotions. And, in my opinion, codecs work their magic on all fronts. I am speechless. Bose (in my Bose headset) feels understated. I say so, because I had thoroughly listen to my favorite Chopin’s pieces on those, and I was baffled by what seemed to me like a vibrant an « oxygenated » rendition (the dispersion of sound was flawless). Airpods : seemed fairly on the brink of all contenders. Mid-range on the muffled side.... Seinheiser : the very most « studio » sound on the dot. Eligible for all in-house manipulations. Soooo, I’d advertise for two distinct rankings: I/2 : The « The f... with everything, I’m gonna close my eyes and... listen to my shot » category: 1 - Sony 2 - Bose 3- Seinheiser 4 - Apple 2/2 : The « I need to know if you really can hear coughs on the 4th track » awards: 1 - Seinnheiser 2 - Bose 3 - Sony 4 - Apple Whit all that said, guys, I would have been happy to hear your take on the matter. Thank you for a very, very « next bes thing ».
Sony and it isn't even close. There's better imaging and immersion. Music sounds fuller. I was debating on whether to pre order the momentum but I'm kinda thinking no now
Wow I don't get why so many reviewers list the Air Pod Max as the best audio headphones. In these tests they aren't even close.. The Air Pod's max just suck. They just sound muddy - the bass, treble and mids are all mushed together. The Bose 700s are more precise and clear than the Sony XM5s. The 700s blow the Sony XM5s away. Even in the rock and roll sample at the end, you can hear the lead guitar so much more clearly on the Bose 700s. The Sonys were clearer than the Air Pods Max, but the Bose 700s blow both of them away. The second song illustrates this beyond any argument. I was surprised that the Momentum 4s were not more precise and clear. The Bose 700s hands-down had the best audio quality - it wasn't even close. I am listening on a 2.1 stereo speaker setup, so I can hear the difference.
I can tell most of the commenters don't have much experience. The bose 700 is by far the most neutral and it's midrange aligns with the harman curve almost to a tee. Airpods max is good but upper mids/lower treble is too recessed, this is useful in creating the illusion of space at the cost of presence. Sony's are designed to sound good with heavily produced bass heavy pop music, like with the momentums. These 2 "smooth" out the harsher areas of sibilant recordings like the first one, which creates bias, even though it's not realistic. The bose faithfully reproduced what female vocals actually sound like. Solo female vocal performances with the vocals up close in the mix do not sound smoothed out in real life. The bose's realism become really apparent in the electric guitar track, as it's the only one with a fully present and neutral tuning in the mids and lower treble. It is also always going to be jarring to go from recessed mids from the sony, to the full neutral mids of the bose straight away. The ear adapts to sounds and gets accustomed to it pretty quickly. If the bose 700 recording was first, the sony mids would sound immediately wrong
Nice work guys! To me it seems like the Sonys were best across the board. Sennheiser 2nd, Apple 3rd, and Bose 4th. Of course with no EQ anyone can say that they can make a case for any of them with their specific setup. ;-)
@@alemusicgirl 1I agree on the xm4 which is the worst helmet but the xm5 has a driver certainly less good than the xm4 (already rotten) but has a better equalization and therefore a sound immediately drinkable, for me it he is in 3rd behind Sennheiser e
To get an idea how the Technics EAH-A800 stacks up against those, I just listened to your comparison of the EAH-A800 with the XM5 here: ua-cam.com/video/uBx3Jw-0i5s/v-deo.html - and it seems like in the new video, you have some different setting for the Sonys. In the Acoustic sample, the stereo imaging/soundstage is way off with the Sonys. It sounds natural in the old comparison video. The guitar should be mostly on the left channel. All in all, Technics and Sennheiser are on a similar quality level, but the Technics have a little undefined/slow/loose bass response, but a more natural bass level.
They all had there problems, in a nutshell from most offensive to least….Sennys were dead last for me, next were the Bose for a solid third, and in a photo finish at the end the Sony WH-1000xm5 beat the AirPods Max but it wasn’t by much.
Only Sony sounded good to me. airpods and bose suck. sennheiser has lot of bass! edit: bose sounds good in android but sony loses it's charm. apple and senn seem to be the same.
You guys !! Haha you pull off the bass speakers from the bose !!! 🤣🤣🤣 Bose need serious help !! I admit senn’s m4 are the best, BY FARRRR, the best sounding and the most basshead !!! Wow !!!
Guys! Before buying the senn’s m4, is there a major difference between m4 and m3 in regards of the sound quality? I know the battery life is amazing with the m4 (60h), but i don’t have the m3 and i am wondering if there is a major difference between them. Thank you again!!! It’s so appreciate :)
@@Patrickmathieu0482 By what i've read, M4 are a bit more neutral but still has a pretty solid low frequency bass, also an easy "bass boost" in the EQ setting if you need a bit more punch. I'm not 100% certain on this as i only own M2 myself.
Listening on my airpods 3, the results are: 1-On iPhone: Sony XM5 is best for me to listen acoustic and jazz music but for the rest i do prefer Apple Airpods Max. Ps : The sennheiser is better than the bose. 2-On Android: It's different this time, i do prefer the Airpods Max for Acoustic and jazz, the bose 700 for classic, the sennheiser for hard rock music and Airpods again for Danse. Ps: the bose 700 has much better sound on android compare it to on iPhone, and it is better than the sennheiser. Conclusion : for an iPhone user the XM5 and Airpods are the better choice and for Android user the bose 700 and Airpods Max are better in my opinion, but i precise that all of them are a good headphones.
They all suck. Sony XM5 are too V-shaped and sound boomy. Bose 700 are shouty and sibilant. Apple AirPods Max are U-shaped, have a noticable dip somewhere in upper mids/lower treble and are sibilant as F. Sennheiser Momentum 4 have too much bass. Looks like they didn't learn their lesson with Momentum 3 which also are pretty terrible by default and shine only after enabling 'High-End Sound Tuning' mode in their companion app or EQ.

Sennheiser - league of its own.
M4 has good tight bass but not as much as XM4

Final verdict:
See, you are only looking for great sound quality or great battery life then go for M4.

Airpods: Fairly neutral with subbass boost, great bass and treble extension, wide soundstage, good detail/resolution + clarity + separation + layering, slightly unnatural timbre
Sennheiser: Warmer, lush tuning, very dynamic/punchy, somewhat intimate soundstage, good detail, very full, amazing timbre
Ranking
1. Airpods Max/Momemtum 4
2. Sony XM5
3. Bose 700
There is so much potential in the Momentum 4 imo
momentum 4 hands down... clearly sennheiser are the professional of sound
I´ve never seen video like that! congrats!
For me:
1. Sony
2. Sennheiser/APMax
4. Bose
Thanks for pointing this out
This is a great resource for comparisons for different genres and headsets, thanks!
Which headphone sound that make you goosebumps?
I don't want like, i just want the answer bro 😅
This is really helpful! The results are amazing. Thanks for that! All the best!
You're welcome, Joris!
You guys are the Crutchfield of UA-cam and I'm so grateful!!!
💖💗👯🙏🔥
Looking forward to your momentum 4 review!
SM4 sounded very pleasant and has overall great sound quality.👏
As far as sound is concerned choosing between them is like splitting hairs. Cannot go wrong with any of them. Heck you could even add Bowers and Wilkins to the mix for good measure.
bose < podsMAx
is it just me or do the XM5 sound the best out of the bunch ? XM5-->momentum 4---> Air pods max---> Bose imo
I totally agree
Depends on the listener and preferences.
I would buy one at a time and if you don't like the sound return them and get a different pair. I personally do not like how the Sony 1000xm5's sound so I'm going to get the Sennheiser momentum 4.
@Jan you are not going to hear what they sound like just from listening to it through the video. I would buy them each and try them out
Especially the female vocal! ✨✨
Thank you guys for the video! I gotta listen to it again and again then can figure out the difference
Thank you for the sound samples. My take -
For vocals, watching movies and showd and songs where yoh need vocal forwardness = Bose NC
For hard rock, powerful bass, and widest soundstage = Sennheiser Momentum
For overall balanced and good performance including good bass, good soundstage and decent vocals = Sony XM 5
its clear momentum dominates here
I have the Airpods Max, Sony 1000XM3, Bose 700, QC 35 ii, Bose wireless QC Earbuds, and Pansonic s500w earbuds for myself and for my family.
I own the following
BOSE QC35 II Gaming Edition
BOSE QC45
BOSE 700
Sony XM4
Sony XM5
B&W PX7 S2

Great video! Will there be a review of the momentum 4's?
Of course!
@@DHRME when will the review come out?
Soon!
@@DHRME can’t wait for that!
@@DHRME Yessir!!! I'm excited!! Thank you for the videos by the way!! Great content!!
I was doing my own test ala DHRME today and I accidentally said, "ice, ice icicle, test, test, testicle.

I was wondering, why there are not many such comments. 😂
Sennheiser M4 just sounds beyond awesome!
I have the BOSE NC 700 and I’m wondering if Sennheiser Momentum 4 headphones have stronger noise cancellation than the BOSE NC 700.
Wow, thorough and quality. To your ears, which sounded the best?
Based exclusively on this, I would go for Sony!
Ohhh yeah !!! I am carefully listening guys !!! Hope that senn’s m4 will sound best !!! 😀😃
can I ask if there is a real reason that the EQ on the XM5 is just WAY louuder in these tests?
reason I ask is that the S-M4W max volume (on auditioning) seems to be a bit low. is this just a function of Sony's default over-boosted bass?
How close is the xm5 with a good eq compared to the sennheiser momentum 4 in terms of sound quality
Which codec are you guys streaming from on the android soind test?
A Hip Hop sample would be nice also.
Which one among them is the LOUDEST ❤️
You really should normalize the sound samples, especially when one headphone is so much quieter.
Senns 1 Max 2 Sony3 Bose 4 ❤️

4) Bose NC700 (too sibilant)
3) Sony WH-1000 XM5 (not enough treble extension)
2) Sennheiser Momentum 4 (good enough extension, some warmth in the mid-bass, a bit sibilant)
1) Airpods Max (good extension, clean mid-bass, not harsh, a bit recessed in the upper mids)
Of course, I'm pretty sure all of these have some form of EQ, so hopefully they'll sound better when you customize them to your liking.
XM5- a little boxy
everything else - either painful or just weird in the high end
EQ can do tone shaping but it's impractical to target really sharp dips & spikes in frequency response. XM5 sounds smoothest in the treble by far. They also have the best ANC so they seem like an obvious pick.
Need to compare them to my PXC 550-II and see if it's worth/better as an upgrade!
Awesome!
Which one is better bose 700 sony 1000xm5 or what help me please reply?
Did you bought
i don't recommend Bose nc700 at all
Instead, I suggest Bose qc45 and xm5. It is very difficult to say which one is better between these two, both are wonderful.
no doubt, Sennheiser sound is the best
Thank for the samples. I was surprised to find out that xm5 for my ear in the first three category sounds the least more satisfying than 700, let alone Max. Really educating.
I would probably add bowers and Wilkins px7 s2 to this group :)
Too expensive
If you want an excellent and great sounding old package for 500 euros or max airpods dollars, my Sony wf1000xm4 and Yamaha combo cost me more (600 euros) in the end, each one has its use.
so please tell me which one is better for vocals sound and more neutral sound
Bose
For my own listening taste ... Sennheiser , Airpod Max , Sony and then Bose ....but Bose will sound better for Podcast and rock music ...the rest will sound great for movies.. ofcourse if you can play with the EQ and you know what you doing ..you can make an argument for any of them...Bose treble is a little too bright for my taste. ..but that's some people jam...for just strictly music listening pleasure ...you will enjoy music mostly with the Sennheiser across all genres of music
Bose is very bright, but not sharp.
What are you guys listening on?
@@DHRME 1more evo atm. Not a reference unit, but still. Oh, and not sharp I meant in a good way, like not hurting my ears. Some overturned bad quality headphones do.
I agree je-note!
@@cricketfreak2010 m4 beats them all in store. I was about to buy xm4 or xm5, after trying for some real time, ended up buying m4.
@@rizakayan Congrats!
@@cricketfreak2010 yeah this test was a joke
Why don't you keep the track playing and change the headphones while it is still playing? I think it's easier to tell the difference that way.
Because it wouldn't be a proper comparison.
Ohh i made third place !! A podium for me …. Do you hear the crowd chanting my name?!?!
Guys could you please review JBL tour one
I listened to them once and to me, they sounded decent, but a little boring and flat. Better than different Bose and Sony XM4, but not as good as my old PXC-550. But they're often on sale, for around 180€ it should be a great value!
I listened this on Bose NC 700 and I liked the Sennheiser M4 sound from the video...but if I am listening on Bose, did I like them or the m4..hear-ception lol :D
Add Technics eah-a800 - incredible sound stage, mids and highs...but lacking lows.
My rankings
Sennheiser
Airpods
Sony
Well ...bose just sounds shrill and tiny unexciting. Sony's came alive on Android, I'm guessing it's the LDAC, The airpods sounds more natural and rather beautiful. The Sennheiser are more analytical
AirPods max shines in classical, jazz
Sony shined as usual with dance & hard rock
Momentum 4 -> what’s with it… it didn’t shine anywhere
By the way, I listened with my PXC II
Bose is good but i could listen to treble frequencies a lot than others in hard rock & dance, May be because of less bassy compared to others in the list.
Whatever I still want to keep my Bose nc700, it’s stylish sleek look isn’t allowing me to look after other wireless headphones….end of the day everyone listens to tidal, UA-cam, Spotify -> you can picky anyone from the list end of the day…

Sennheiser!
You know its so stupid for me to see other people select headphones meanwhile me on the other end eq the headphones like a pro

If you have an apple device go for the sennheiser momentum 4

doing a sound test like this makes no sense... because it all depends what speakers/headphones the person is listening to the video with...
1-M4, richest and fullest sound, but too expensive. NOT SURE BOUT THE ANC THO, ANC ON MTW2 WAS SUPER DUPER BAD
2-XM5, exactly no upgrade in SQ depatment over XM4
3-NC700, very natural sound but need to be more energetic
Winner-Get the discounted XM4 for 200 USD hehehe.. especially when you can get the limited white version
Best anc and bass : XM5
Best sound for most of the time : Momentum 4
Fair!
I thought Seinheiser would win, but Sony sounded much more richer and neutral, followed by Seinheiser, Bose, and Pods Max last.
Some of your ears in the comments should be jailed!🤨
Bose is way better on android..
😆
I felt like this:
Sony is the less neutral sound, fairly aimed at soliciting emotions.
Soooo, I’d advertise for two distinct rankings:
I/2 : The « The f... with everything, I’m gonna close my eyes and... listen to my shot » category:
1 - Sony
2 - Bose
3- Seinheiser
4 - Apple
2/2 : The « I need to know if you really can hear coughs on the 4th track » awards:
1 - Seinnheiser
2 - Bose
3 - Sony
4 - Apple
Whit all that said, guys, I would have been happy to hear your take on the matter. Thank you for a very, very « next bes thing ».
Sennheiser sounds best to me!
Sony and it isn't even close. There's better imaging and immersion. Music sounds fuller. I was debating on whether to pre order the momentum but I'm kinda thinking no now
1. Momentum 2. Xm5 3. AirPods Max. 4. Bose
Bose 700 fucking has screeching sound that hurt my ear, the worst out of them.
What did you listen on?
L, the Sony sound needed more unfolding to soundstage since it's the least open sound.
Nice work guys! To me it seems like the Sonys were best across the board. Sennheiser 2nd, Apple 3rd, and Bose 4th. Of course with no EQ anyone can say that they can make a case for any of them with their specific setup. ;-)
lol sony the worse

15:41 the airpods sound terrible
No doubt SENNHEISER NO. 1
For me the bose 700 sounded the best..
They all had there problems, in a nutshell from most offensive to least….Sennys were dead last for me, next were the Bose for a solid third, and in a photo finish at the end the Sony WH-1000xm5 beat the AirPods Max but it wasn’t by much.
All were same not a huge difference over one another.
Only Sony sounded good to me. airpods and bose suck. sennheiser has lot of bass!
edit: bose sounds good in android but sony loses it's charm. apple and senn seem to be the same.
wow

Everyone knows Sony won !!
More bass on iphone but more clarity with android…do you agree?
Listening on my airpods 3, the results are:
1-On iPhone:
Sony XM5 is best for me to listen acoustic and jazz music but for the rest i do prefer Apple Airpods Max.
Ps : The sennheiser is better than the bose.
2-On Android:
It's different this time, i do prefer the Airpods Max for Acoustic and jazz, the bose 700 for classic, the sennheiser for hard rock music and Airpods again for Danse.
