Lots of great info in here! It can be hard to get started 3D printing for profit but we've definitely seen most people find success by focusing on a hyper-specific niche (that they're already interested in!) and devoting yourself 100% to that niche. Looking forward to the livestream this weekend!
NICE! We did some sim parts for a local guy, the wheels was INSANE., He brought it out to the shop the second time he ordered. It is crazy how perfect they can be!
But Grant, I have an Ender farm! Seriously though, dealing with consumers who don’t have an understanding about how long it takes to print that dragon or doohickey and it's easy to drop prices to be competitive but it undermines prices for everyone. Selling 3D prints can easily run lower than minimum wage if you don’t fight for price. Gotta run to do maintenance on my Ender farm. Again.
Yep, we found a massive chasm in education. Funny how I'm focusing on education too. Wonder why...... Maybe there's a big class structure coming soon??? ;)
I've just started printing with a Neptune 3. Had some initial issues but it was 100% my fault. Fixed it and have been printing quite a bit this week on it!
Been listening to your podcasts back to back for the last week now, love your shows and have me tuned in. A great video that makes me dig deeper and push harder with my business here In the UK. Keep putting out the awsome material.
still great Information! I was printing over night on day 3 lol. I do enjoy the information. My first printer was a resin printer :( such a terrible learning curve, but I am there now. first filament Printer is the X1C and I love it! but it really hates glow filament :)
Thanks for the great info, finally upgraded from the ender 3v2 to an anycubic kobra max. You sure aren't kidding about the difference from a cheap printer to a decent quality one. Working on a business license from home as well as an LLC so i can turn this into a little side hustle, maybe more.
Try going up to a Prusa and you will wonder why you called the Anycubic decent ;) But yes, any good upgrade from an ender makes you wonder why you even bothered..
@@3DMusketeers Alright I'll give them a shot once I can get another. The plus side is my wife loves this hobby too so convincing her shouldn't be too bad 😁.
Why are the voron and ratrig printers not mentioned much in print farm applications. You can get a top of the line printer for about the cost of prusa. you only have to build it. And i consider my printers like an investment put money in to it and get a high 30%+ return over a few years. Like you said its a great source of passive income.
Because they take so much time to build that is often offsets the cost of buying something that just works out of the box. In a business atmosphere, my time is worth a TON, I often bill over 100/hr for my time and that time spent building a voron or ratrig just does not translate to success. Am I going to do it? yes, but only because I have a youtube channel lol
Ok thanks I actually own a resin printer and am trying to sell stuff but I have no 3d modeling experience and I agree it is pricey and I don’t get like any orders and don’t know how to get it out to people
if you are trying to have everyone your customer, no one will be. If you are in a market that is pretty filled with low cost competitors, it may be best to find a better, untapped market. Especially if you are just starting out
This is what the Wife and I are doing now. I have lots of Models already printed. She is working on the more detailed stuff with Resin and full painting of them. We are looking to make our own Shopify store so we don't have to deal with direct competition with Etsy Sellers right next to us. Also setting up an LLC and writing off some of the expenses from without our home. We've been selling locally right now to Co-Workers and friends and then word of mouth from there. Ideally we are looking to basically just make some extra funds while paying for our hobby at the same time.
new sub here thanks for the vid, i have a Stratasys 768 with heated chamber on open source that can print superb particularly z layer adhesions, should you have or need a HT guy? i may have a titan to do next i just found your channel and have 20 plus years in plastics and filaments buy zero connections in this field as an industrial back ground originally but i am just about ready to finish the set up phase and branch out for yearend wish me luck oh ya i primarily focus on functional parts or prototypes from automotive secondary parts and anything else that moves seals or holds Thanks Again! "the best" is very subjective. We run mostly MK3s's in our farm, but that is because they came out pre mini. I am buying minis for our farm currently until we see what the new iteration is of the i3 platform
I only saw the preview of this and it ended with 'talk like' and I'm over here like what's this jerk bag got to say. Ha ha. Jokes on me! I can't say I know how to run it perfectly but we do try! It's a team effort and we have a great team, now it is about keeping everyone busy!
@@3DMusketeers well my strat soon to be another if parts/materials run well the machines just run 24 / 7 and my makerbots are good for pla quick prototypes both are certainly not the best in many categories but they fit my use well
hey as long as it works! I have found prusa to be more value for the dollar over Stratasys or Makerbot, but I would rather have more machines than only a few. I do get the value of a continued ecosystem though!
It is called The Politician because it Filters and produces Hot Air. It is not defamatory to anyone in particular and is not going after a protected class, so we are in the clear :)
You need money to buy printers...If you think you can just run out and buy a cheap printer and sell your creations your dreaming. If I could " shell out the big bucks" I wouldn't need to start a business in the first place.
Hello threeD musketeers. This was the longest clip for the least amount of information I've ever seen. You list all the different printers but don't reveal their strengths and weaknesses. You list where to post your services but you don't talk about the amount of pricing. Or dealing with customers. Or running a business at all. Your headline is completely misleading and false
You are welcome to watch the MANY podcast episodes on the same subject if you prefer. Your pricing, what machines to use, heck even the strengths and weaknesses of those machines, etc. will all be subjective. As will dealing with customers, running the business, etc. This is how to start, not how to become a printing god lol.

dude! I am a sim racer, got into 3d printing for mods and improvements to my aluminum 80/20 rig and now I'm painting models from resin.

glad it has been working out!! It is likely time to revisit this topic with the latest affordable printers on the market.
I have a elegoo 3 pro great printer for price but I have two of there products and both had problems with the wire breaking at the soder point
That's a pain in the butt!! Sorry to hear that

so Prusa then? I am looking to possibly build a setup with an enclosure but I want the bambu bells and whistles plus diamond nozzles@@3DMusketeers
I have quite a few Prusa's love them! My XL lands next week!
What are your oppinions on the Delta ones for beginners?
I advise against it unless you NEEEED tall parts

Unfortunately I heard you can't get LLC in Canada. Have to incorporate.

One of the best videos I watched thank you
Thank you :) Appreciate the compliment!
Great Video Great Information. One BIG Question how do change colors Example the candy corn orange, white yellow. Do you have a video on that??
you mean in a print? you can call for a color swap in the slicer or do a filament change in the slicer
@@3DMusketeers yes sorry want to change color half thru the slicer
in PS you can add a color swap, or simply do a manual filament change when you need it.
Good video man!
Thank you!
I got the ender-S S1 cant find details if this is a good one

@3DMusketeers what about resin printing business
Wayyyy more labor. So pricing is very picky

If you are pricing to be the cheapest in town you will attract nuisance customers
