- It’s not often you see a mod in Total War does something completely new and unique. Thera, or Planet Total War come to mind but what we have today is something truly special: The Star Wars universe brought to life!
While this might be using a dated game in the series (Rome: Total War) it's still well worth giving it a try and is a serious achievement in Total War modding. A fully playable Star Wars Total War campaign with fully fleshed out factions and unit rosters and with custom battle maps that are just awesome!

For me Star Wars: Empire At War is as close as it gets to a Star Wars Total War experience but this is just so good as well! Yes it's a bit dated but if you enjoy Rome, this isn't too far off. Excellent use of Rome Total War campaign mechanics on a great campaign map with some absolutely insane units! Seriously if you're a big fan of the franchise this is well worth checking out. And hopefully lots more updates to come yet!
Empire at War with mods like Fall of the Republic and Thrawn's Revenge, really take that game to another level, you should cover them.
I have said that a Total War Star Wars would be incredible, just never knew how visualized it could be

It's mods like this that make me love Rome. My mind goes to the fell beasts in the LOTR mod diving through troops like they're nothing. What battle map is used in a "space" battle in this mod, when two armies collide away from a planet?
Just an open battlefield, originally asteroids was planned to be used but it didn't look good for the land-units and was scrapped.
Such a nice little touch of Vader's personal troopers being primarily 501st clone troopers.

God bless the modders. CA takes a few years to churn out a game but these modders are just going crazy

It's movie canon, except that we did take some stuff from the Thrawn-trilogy of books as well.
But it's only based on the old trilogy in terms of movies.

I will say something that's concerning:
Lately CA has been patching the historical games. And by patching I mean putting out updates that remove chat. But those updates seem to break a LOT of mods. I myself haven't been able to do darthmod.
If they do the same to Rome are y'all still around to fix it, or is it already a completed thing that won't be worked on anymore?
@@spiffygonzales5160 Yes, updates that break mods are always bad news.
Especially on STEAM where you're forced to update..
The mod is not really gonna develop further as the main creator Dagovax Sirrianus has moved on to Total War: Rome Remastered in 2021. I simply decided to finish up this campaign beta into a playable state.
Hopefully the mod can be ported there and continued.

Just saying, if you want a truly grand scale RTS of Star Wars, it is with Empire at War and the massive mods for it; Fall of the Republic, and Thrawns Revenge.
Oh 100% agreed of course, I mention it a couple of times here. But this is still quite unique and worth checking out :)

I would love it to, but I'm not sure tbh. It's been years of work to get it working a it is so it's probably a lot more work that the modders would need to make extra time for. Great point though!
I watched your video when you made Kings and Generals style video tutorial and it was great and i've used a lot of that knowledge to this day.

No way, I just searched for a star wars total war mod yesterday and didnt find anything!
So funny thing about these Star Wars mods….
I don't understand why they didn't use the navy system for ships. Deathstar flying around a forest smaller than a tree is weird lol
Because we wanted the starships in the real-time-battles, we didn't want them to be just autoresolved battles.
The Death Star 1 is a bonus unit/hero - it was inspired by the cheat-code in Galactic Battlegrounds, which is like Age of Empires 2 but Star Wars.
My dream game is basically Total War in space in my sci fi setting I’m working on so this is awesome. Empire at War is great but bc it was designed around factions who will always be at war it doesn’t have diplomacy systems like I’d enjoy

The galactic map did remind me of EAW, but the battle reminded me more of garry's mod😂 absolutely chaotic, lol.

i adore the offical star wars total war game - I will def play this regardless as classic rome mods are fun.

Shogun 2 is lacking in flexibility and the map editing is barely explored compared to the depth seen in Rome and Medieval 2. Though if enough people bothered Shogun 2 is still one of the more flexible modern titles. It won't appear on its own: people need to put in the work...

This is unexpected but welcome
An official Total war star wars would be fantastic, but first TW needs to go back to it's historical roots. If they can make some good modern stuff, like 1800s conflicts and even WW1 then I would say TW is ready to do Star Wars. Star Wars is pretty archaic when it comes to tech, battles are fought like WW1-WW2. It would be similar in some ways to the Warhammer series because it will have single entities and unit abilities, but they would generally be much weaker then in warhammer.
I would prefer the clone wars era to be made first and maybe a second but combatable title would see the GCW. The clone wars would see the republic using overwhelming firepower and jedi powers, but they have low replenishment and high cost units. They would be the more intelligence based faction and would have more unique battles. Legendary Lords would be Obi Wan and anakin, rex and cody would be heroes. Standard lords would be clone commanders.
the CIS for the sake of balance would be quite restricted (because the CIS would literally be unbeatable otherwise) and they would routinely face issues with public order and be given lots of ridiculously tough missions by the sith in a CIS campaign. If they break away from Palpatine's plan then the Republic would become significantly stronger with more fancy prototypes like ATATs and star destroyers and would gain a lot more map knowledge, but the CIS would gain more public order and access to more unique units as they go, such as umbaran soldiers and their fancy tanks, Onderon royal guards and their strong cavalry, Neimodian gunnery soldiers, Wookies, etc. Legendary lord would be Grievous. standard lords would be droid commanders, but the CIS also has the opportunity to invest more into a tactical droid.

Mods like this and WWI mod are on their own level of nonsense :) To state the obvious - no matter what you do, you won't force RTW battle engine to work in such type of battles. I can't think of it as anything other than a waste of time
Just another example of modders being more innovative than the CA team itself trying so hard to create what they won't give us. Fuck doing anything new or fun. Lets not do Warhammer 40000, let's just copy and paste until Warhammer fucking seven and why not throw in some random "historical" piece too. Empire 2? Nah..too hard..medieval 3? Pfft why give ppl what they want? Ww1? Nooooo. Waaaay too innovative. Lets go backwards instead. Twice.. how many times u reckon they gonna copy and paste Troy?

Hahaha it's dated I'll give it that. But if you enjoy vanilla Rome this isn't too far off. It's just definitely not anything as good as Empire At War which I think would be an unfair comparison
@@TheTerminatorGaming Yeah this will never compare to Star wars Empire at war. Star wars empire at war was made to be a case of a quality Star Wars game. Any mods for Star wars by other games will be so-so.
As much as I liked total war, I have move on and away from their laziness and incompatance. So nice to see modders still being free but had to say, never enjoyed a mod in my life better then the starwars mod for stellaris. Stellaris sw new dawn is just epicccc
No disrespect to the moders who put their heart and soul into these games, but the graphics are awful.
These models are actually much better than any model seen in other RTW mods.
