😂😂My natural hair is @ my breast. (Length). Braids are convenient. Let's be honest, some people have such thin hair....the braider is braiding on their "thoughts!" They're not for everyone. Take care of your own hair no matter the protective style. ❤

I remember telling someone this, and she was shocked and looking at me like I was crazy. I said, "Girl, what are you doing after you swim?" I took that example because that would be the one that would hit the hardest. Everyone knows you GOT to get that chlorine out your hair......so you are just letting it stay there, GIRL BYE 😂😂. From then on, she started to wash and condition her hair in braids. I hope she is also spreading the healthy braids word. ❤

Ikr, like we tired. We just want long hair without doin all that.
Like tf we look like needing to twist hair, moisturize, comb, detangle, part, retwist, wash, condition, seal. All that mess all the time to try and get growth. Because "it's gone break".
Tf, betta braid that ish up and just walk away. It betta grow. Ain't nothing stopping it. I'm leaving it be. It has one job.... GROW .
Or be like me. Do some ciely twists. And slap a wig on. Outta here I'm tired. Hair should not take this much energy to grow.
At least the bald sistas don't have to deal with this. It's wash day?
No it's not I ain't got no hair😂, life too short. And my patience is shorter. That's why I got no hair ☠️.
I'm not going to lie. I really want to grow my hair out into a huge fro. But I don't like the maintenance that our hair needs. sometimes my inner voice says
" You know most of this could all be fixed if you just cut your hair down to like 6 inches. And call it a day. Wash day going to be nothing more than like 40 minutes. With virtually no detangling"... 🤣. It's tempting.... It really is.

You're toooo young if you dont get the AALIYAH reference IMMEDIATELY!! LMAO The trick ladies is length RETENTION not just the growth. Your hair is always growing out the scalp, but if it is not retained it will seem the same length. People always ask me what I do do get my hair to grow past bra length. Its not the growth that matters, its the retention. But then when I tell them what i do, they say that's too much work. Duh, of course it takes work!

    😂😂😂😂 at the Aaliyah reference.
In my almost 30 years of being back to natural, what I have learned about wearing braids is that MY hair loves being in cornrows. It grows best that way. So I do a lot of styles that way. My favorite these days are crochet styles, which have cornrows as the base. My hair grows A LOT in these styles. And I read in the comments where someone said keep the scalp clean and moisturized. Yep. I use apple cider vinegar/water mixture on cotton balls when my hair and go through my scalp to clean it.

  • @ladiuneeq9789
    @ladiuneeq9789 4 місяці тому +5

If you are not moisturizing your hair in those braids, your hair may not be growing. I kept mine washed and moisturized. I made sure to lock in the moisture when I had my hair braided too. When I took them out, I had an additional 6 inches of hair growth. My stylist (my aunt) was in complete shock and so was I. It could have been the products I was using. I don't know. But my hair tends to grow a lot when it's braided.

There was a girl in college that used to do my cornrows. Every time I took them out, you could see my hair had grown a lot. People would comment on it because it would grow a lot. I'd only have them in for a couple of weeks at a time.

For some; 3/4 th of an inch! I would get braids for the purpose of not having to do my hair daily. I could care less about the growth. I cut my hair a few months ago and it's growing back without braids. If it grows, it grows (no biggy)! God bless you EJ🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I've learned so much transitioning through phases with my hair. I've gone from relaxed to natural to locs to bald. Through it all, my hair was and is: thin, fine 4c natural hair. Now that I have the experience and vernacular to say that, there are things I've gone through with my hair that is very much specific to my hair type. I cannot take braids for long, if at all. My edges will leave me (as they have in the past). The weight of the extra hair is too much for my thin strands to hold. Say that to say this, braids don't grow everyone's hair out. For some, you're doing more damage than anything by tangling your hair up in heavy weaves.

You have to take care of your hair when in a protective style. Moisturizer with oil/leave-in moisturizers EVERY DAY. I don't leave my braids in for more than 8 weeks.

Braids now. Can't even think straight my head is so tight. When I took my braids out my hair looked like it did when I put the braids in. It's like my hair growth went on sabbatical.

The craziest part is…..common sense should tell you the hair isn’t growing further down into the braid….like…it’s growing from the scalp…not the ends…so the end of your hair is still exactly where you left it…….🥴

This would explain why overtime. The braids start to slide down the hair shaft. And goes further away from the scalp as it becomes looser and threatens to fall off.
