Glad to see JT. He looks great. I hope he got his car problems all taken care of. On the plus side you get to see him again when he picks his car up.Nativity is looking so beautiful. Santa work shop looks like a fun stitch. Thanks for sharing and Happy stitching
Yes, it was so good to see my son for Christmas. And he said it would give him an excuse to make the trip again soon. His car is not ready yet. We still don't know what is wrong with it. I hope you have a fabulous month of stitching. Dena
Hello Dena I’m so glad you got to see your son. I hope all goes well with his car. Congratulations on another finish. The weather has been terrible everywhere. We got 5 inches Monday and the high was 16 degrees. Even though I grew up in New England I hate the cold weather and snow. I live in Maryland now, we get a lot of ice, I’m no a fan. Looking forward to Spring. Stay safe and healthy. Happy stitching. ❤
Linda, I have lived in southern states most of my life and I think my blood is just too thin for the cold, snowy climates. LOL. I love the look of the snow as long as I don't have to go anywhere and the power stays on. But after seeing the beauty of the freshly fallen snow, I am not a fan of the dirty, scraped off snow as the streets are cleared and everything starts looking messy and dirty. But, I do like a change of seasons, so you have to take the good with the bad of course. Right now we don't have snow and I am grateful for that. Dena
I just love that your son gets you “ugly” earrings each year! 😂😂 I feel like I haven’t seen you in ages so I was so happy to see you tonight! I do have Santa’s Workshop and you are REALLY tempting me! 😂😂
Well, Carolyn, we have all just gotten started so you can jump in there with us for sure! Gary has the embellishment pack also if you don't already have it. Dena
@@halfstitchcrossstitch2456 You are terrible! (I already have the embellishment pack!) Stop don't stop! I'll look at my February plans and see if I can fit it in! Thanks for enabling me!
Ohhh my I hope JT's car was able to be fixed and that all the car problems are far far behind him. Congrats on your stitching it is coming along great, love seeing the Nativity it is one of the magazines I looked through the other day. We have not had much snow where I live but the mountain are about average snowfall for the year so that is good. Happy Stitching Patty
I was thinking how much my Sunday School kids would have loved those earrings! I don’t teach anymore. When you were talking about your son it made me sad. I have a 36 year old son that lives in California and I live in Washington. I only get to see him maybe 3 to 4 days a year. I could understand your heart breaking if you hadn’t been able to see him. He is looking amazing. Your stitching is fabulous!
Thanks so much for the compliment on the chicken earrings. I will not be sharing that with my son however, as I do not wish to encourage this crazy tradition he has created. LOLOLOL. Dena
Dena, I’m so glad you are ok! I forgot that you were going away and started getting anxious that something had happened to you or the hubs. It’s funny how you get to know someone that you don’t know at all on the internet and start to worry about them when they deviate from their routine. So happy you got to have Christmas with your son too. Love your finish and the Santa’s workshop is going to be adorable. Hope you had a wonderful retreat and that you got there safely.
I appreciate you checking in! I’m glad you noticed I was away and I was safe. We had a wonderful time at the retreat, so much so we may go again in November of this year. Wishing you a great month of stitching! Dena
I’m glad you got your family Christmas even though it was a bit different than expected. With my recent Teresa Wentzler finish, I decided that the extra border backstitching around both sides of all the lines needed to be done to make the piece look complete. Everything else in the piece is backstitched, so it seemed “right” to do that backstitching also. Of course, you’re welcome to do it or leave it off depending on how you’re feeling about it, but figured I’d share my thoughts about it on my piece. 😊
Thanks Sarah for letting me know you considered and evaluated the backstitching on the little border lines. Like you, I want the piece to look completed and will most definitely backstitch some of it to see the difference as you did. Chances are if you felt it was needed, I will too. Hope you are getting lots of stitching time! Dena
So glad you enjoyed seeing Cocoa celebrating the holidays with us. She was happiest at seeing JT, but she loved the carrot he gave her in her stocking very much. It is her favorite toy! She has an old one but JT was thinking what if we lost it? She would be so sad, so he gave her another as a back up. We are watching out for snow again today, but the chances are low, thankfully. Hope you are stitching! Dena
Dena...congratulations on your finish...it is beautiful... very happy that your Christmas with your son worked out...tell your husband that it is not unusal to fell anxious with cross stitch when you first start to stitch...we have had snow on the ground since the last week of 2024...I hope that all works out for your retreat...best wishes and a happy 2025...looks like Cocoa had a great Christmas...love your chicken earrings lol❤
Loretta, thanks so much on the congrats for my finish! I think my husband stitched those little wooden necklaces just to have fun with me. Our retreat did work out. We were able to get away on the day we had hoped to head to Alabama (Sunday) and we had an excellent time! Best wishes for your 2025 as well. those crazy chicken earrings.....oh my goodness. My son is too funny. Dena
We were able to get away just in time, thankfully! It was cold, but clear the week we were there and started to snow lightly as we were leaving to come home. We had safe travels and memories of a wonderful week of stitching! Dena
Glad everything turned out for your son, safe and sound!!! Hope you have a wonderful week on your get a-way!!!! Weather has been crazy !! The other night when I took our girl out it was -27 degrees wind chill. We didn't spend a lot of time out!!!!
I hope you are staying warm as well, my friend! We did have a wonderful time at the retreat. Got to know these individuals much better since I had only spent a little time with some of them before. Dena
Hi Dena Love all of your WIPS - Your Nativity is just beautiful. You are doing a great job on this one and I dearly love this one. Take Care & Happy Stitching
Hi Dena sorry to hear about JT's car, hope he manages to sort it out. I loved seeing Tommy's stitching, maybe he could do another little kit? I'm loving seeing the progress you are making on your Nativity project, it's going to be a stunning finish. Best wishes & Happy Stitching Natalie x
Dena - I love your "ugly" earrings from your son! I hate that your visit with your son was abbreviated because of his car issues. I hope it was something that was easy (and economical) to repair. I'm not sure what's going on with the weather down here in the south - we had a few inches of snow overnight last night, so of course everything here is closed. Thankfully I had already planned some good hot comfort food meals for this week with the weather being so cold. I hope you were able to go to your retreat. I love that Santa's Workshop pattern; it's definitely on my wish list. Happy stitching! - TaMara
TaMara, it was great to see him even if it was brief. I am so glad to hear you are stocked up on good food for the snow! I did get to go to the retreat and we had a wonderful time! We are thinking we may do it again in November possibly. Dena
I have a small wooden box that holds earrings that my children picked out as Christmas gifts for me when they were little. I’ve never been able to bring myself to wear them. You are a better woman than I. I can’t get rid of them because my babies picked them out. I remember my three year old son looking up at me with his sweet face, full of excitement, asking, “Did you like your earrings?”
Jan, I only wear them on Christmas Day (unless I am wearing them as a joke as I did for floss tube one year). However, each pair holds a memory of my son being so delighted that he found such tacky earrings each year and where he bought them, etc. Great funny memories of those Christmases. Dena
Wow, I'm so glad that JT made it for a late Christmas trip. I hope his car isn't expensive to repair. We always worry so much about our kids, no matter how adult they are. Nativity is looking sooo good! That backstitching really makes the details stand out. So happy that you are getting all your goals finished for January. I love how much I'm doing with Brringo. How did Cocoa like all the snow you've gotten? I hope you are able to go on retreat and that you've made it safely. ❤
Judy, well our snow did melt enough for us to get away on Sunday as we had hoped. The retreat was amazing, just 8 ladies getting together to stitch for a week, and to get to know each other better. I am also loving Nativity and am anxious to get back to stitching it which is a pleasant change in my attitude from the past. Cocoa loves the snow, but saw very little of it as it was so cold we didn't take her out in it very often. We ordered some booties for her feet but she doesn't understand why we keep putting those things on her feet! LOL. Hope you are getting great stitching time. Dena
So was I! It was so good to see little Cocoa loving on her brother so much. My Christmas will be complete this Saturday when I can gift my friend her Raggedy Ann quilt. Hope you are having a fabulous month. Dena

Hope you made it to your retreat. Mother Nature is sure mad at us this winter. Snow in the south and bone chilling cold here in the north!

Well, my son ordered them from China he said. LOLOLOL. I do not miss the crazy chickens, however. Hope you have a wonderful month of stitching. Dena

My husband stitches as well and has done some beautiful projects and started out slow, so we’ll see about your husband ☺️
Oh, I hope he keeps up with it! That would be fun! Dena
