    My geckos love their slate hides
    My house came with a bunch if extra slate so I cleaned it and they all have a bunch of slate, my gecko zeckrom squishes himself into tighter places and sleeps, and one of my others, noyvern, has a big piece of slate and dug under and made another hid himself (they all have 3+ hides I made) he does that in early summer and sleeps in there then in the winter goes to his (also slate) warm hide
    He's my most active gecko so I gave him the biggest enclosure and he is almost always active, even In the day, i think I'm gonna switch up his stuff soon he seems bored

      Aww nice, yeah I've noticed some reptile shops sell on old bits of slate that have come off of houses lol. Nice :) If you do change things around, try not to do anything too drastic, just add little elements here and there. Males particularly can sometimes take a bit of time to adjust to new setups. :)

    Even though I’ve owned a leopard gecko for a little over a year, I always learn new ways to improve her life, thank you for these videos, they’ve definitely helped my baby get the biggest personality! Even tho she’s a bit of a diva 🤣

    Everyone's tanks were so cool and creative! I really like the use of slate from molly and like the background from hayly/amy and how how everyone made hiding spots and built up height with various materials! And thank you Rebecca for your thoughts on the humidity! :) Since the submission anyway I've made some adjustments and the hot side's humidity is a little lower than it was initially! These videos are really so much inspiration! Already thinking about changes I could do in the future! :D

      Ikr, it's so cool to see everyone's setups! Nice! With my tanks, the mesh is pretty wide, so I kind of have the opposite problem, it dries out quite quick, so I'm always watering the plants 🙈😊

      Nice! Yeah I have quite a few entries from the first batch of submissions, so I will probably use them for the next episode of this. However, if you follow me on Facebook and/or Instagram, you should see a post when I'm looking for setups :D

    Hey! Hope you may see this! I wanted to ask, is it normal for a new gecko to not want to hunt in your presence? I know my boy is eating his crickets cause they disappear and he is pooping normally, but he doesn't seem to want me watch him hunt at all. He won't care for me bringing a cricket up to his face either. Is this normal? Thank you if you get to reply this, your videos have been massively helpful with him 🦎

    • @leopardgeckotalk
      @leopardgeckotalk  2 роки тому +1

      Yes 100% normal. At this point he may be a bit shy/nervous in front of you, he'll soon realise you aren't a threat, and will be chasing after his food in front of you in no time :)

    Could you do a video on leopard gecko enclosure care/maintenance?? Like how to clean the enclosure with different substrates & what chemicals to avoid and also just general enclosure safety? In my Leo fb groups I keep seeing people with ridiculously dirty enclosures & peoples Leos getting sick and/or killed because the owners let their cats/other mammals be on or around the enclosure
    the amount of posts ive seen where people post “my cat was laying on the top of my enclosure and the screen broke and now my leopard gecko is dead/hurt” or ask for enclosure ratings with it being a whole mess

    hi! my family has been thinking of getting a crested gecko but we don't know what kind of plants or decorations we should put in the future encloser. also, how are you supposed to clean a tank? do you need a specific thing inside the tank or do you have to remove everything inside...? please respond! I've been binge-watching all of your crested gecko videos :)

    • @Iris_02
      @Iris_02 2 роки тому

      You can put real or fake plants. Fake plants don't require soil, real plants do. If you choose for real plants, make sure it's soil that's made for reptiles. Decorations can be cork bark, vines, bamboo sticks, twigs (bought, not from outdoors). And I would recommend a hide, like a coconut hide, even though gecko's usually hide in plant leaves. If you have soil for real plants in your tank, you can put a cleaning crew in there (springtails and tropical isopods) to help you clean the tank. But you should remove any poop that you see left of course. If you don't want to use a cleaning crew then you should change out the soil completely every month and spot clean every day (= removing all the poop you can find). If you keep your gecko on something else like paper towels you should change those out every now and then (I don't use them so I don't know exactly how often). You should also clean the glass as soon as it's dirty with something that's safe for reptiles to use (some people use 50/50% water and vinegar solution). I personally only clean the decorations in the cage when they're dirty. It's easier to take them out, yes. I don't do it that often though because mostly the glass and the soil gets dirty, the decorations not so much.
      I hope I could help :)

      If you go for fake plants you'll want to take out all the plants and decor to wash them all down. A fully bioactive tank is kind of self-cleaning, though I do still wash down the sides of the tank, any feeding ledges, etc that wouldn't get cleaned by the clean up crew.. and anything that has been pooped on --- that once again, hasn't been cleaned by the clean up crew 🙈😂 I've lost a few leaves to gecko poops.
