my biggest tip for filming would be to turn the camera tracking path on in the replay editor settings, when you're not in montage view it shows you the actual camera so you can really see how it's moving, hugely underrated feature imo
as someone who finally made the choice to give session a shot this tutorial was very helpful. the game is still frustrating to me and i have gotten a little more used to it but filming is what i was struggling with the most. i think its still gonna take a lot more time to fully get used to it all but this video helped a ton! a more in depth video of the buttons your actually pressing does sound like a lot to explain but if you could go more into detail that would be awesome!!
One trick that I like using to really push the realism is to go to Pause -> Replay Editor -> Camera Path Display Mode -> Full Path If you exit the Montage View [LB] you will see the exact path the camera will take as well as the position the camera is at any point on the timeline. With this you can really see where the filmer is going and adjust their path to be exactly the way you want. There are a couple other tips and tricks that you'll learn just by practicing with the tool. Just have fun, find your style, and express yourself.
Try this skater XL pull your sticks both to the same side when you grind a flat rail or a stair rail you can easily get a 50/50 or a cross lock 50/50 experiment with the triggers. Never push up and down on the sticks
I was really interested in this mode and have only just completed the mission that teaches you how to use video editor, so your video helped me more than I can put into words. Thank you for the tips and advice
Needed to see this, your explanation an semi-walk through of the key frames made it make it a lot more sense to me. Thought the video editor on ps5 was messed up 😂
Also with real life filming, there’s the rule of thirds, where you don’t want the subject to be centered. You want him to be on the side, or corner, and it’ll look better. Personally I would only make him centered for if I was recording the video for the purpose of making a UA-cam short cuz of having to crop the video and stuff.
It would really help if I could actually invert the vertical camera controls. I won't be able to do crap with filmer mode until they add the ability to do that to the game.
Thank u for this one, i pre ordered the game on ps5 and i can't wait for it, so i wantet to be as ready as u can be so this is a big help. Keep on the good work :D Greetings from Vienna🙏
enjoyed the tutorial I'd be down to watch a more indepth... TBH I'd be down to see the whole process of blending different clips together in software. Maybe a miniseries on it I know it could get lengthy
I struggle getting my camera to follow the skater at a good pace . My camera, when I set key frames it looks good in slo-mo with my triggers and then I play it and it’s all hanky’s
Check my line out man, just threw it up. I tried to get the camera positioned just right so I could have cool shots while skating at the same time. Took me forever to get that line.
@@bobbydubbs7332 i love fighting games where you have to master the art of fighting lol, and apparently KCD is that and its only £6 lol, ive been playing a session trial that's been updated recently and it feels so smooth
@@jakobicobb3447 I played kingdom come a couple years ago and it’s a great game! Hard as fuck but great. Mastering your sword fighting is a must. Much like Session, you must practice a lot in order to master anything (steep learning curve as well)… which is something I look for in games. Depending on your taste… Session is a hardcore Skate sim and Kingdom is the same in the RPG spectrum… I highly recommend either of them.
Hey Garret I tried to send a session clip on Discord I got but the file is to big, so i'm going to send it on xbox in your xbox messages. Also I play all my games with one hand because I can't use the other one.
I can only repeat some things that i've criticized in your first montage from a couple of weeks ago. Admittedly though, your second one was a lot better,so this is more like some general food for thoughts :D I do steongly believe that doing something in any form of art because "it looks cool" is awkward reasoning. Because "it looks cool" is a emotional response to what's happening, not the thing happening itself. So unless you can come up with an explanation to why it looks cool, you're not really adding nor removing anything. It's like saying "red is a good color because i like it". Sure, thst might be true for the individual, but without any further context that information is completely useless. Does it now mean that the only color that should ever be used for anything should be red, because a person said they like it? Obviously you need context, why was the color chosen, what is the context in what it was chosen and for what is the color for? Is it supposed to look scary, soothing, agressive? is it on a vehicle, on a wall, on a painting? You should ask yourself these questions while doing art of any form, and if you want to do something but you can't come up with a good reason to why, then there's a good chance that it doesn't add anything, or even worse distracts from what is important. Sure, you could argue if that's even important, and that it's all subjective and whatever, and that is true to some degree. But there's a science to everything, and video/film is a medium that's been done for forever, and has arguably been perfected, and the "rules" or quirks that we've come up with tend to work. Anyone can pick up a good camera and press record, and someone who is not familiar with it might think that that's all it takes to make a "good video". But the truth is, the science is behind everything you _don't_ actively see, but that's been carefully handcrafted to make the viewing experience exactly what the creator wants you to see, and not get distracted with things that aren't important. So "realistic filming" isn't just to act like we're on the streets with our camcorder and filming some skate clips. You can do it like that, but all you're really accomplishing is the exact thing that thousands, if not millions of people have done already, and what realistically anyone could do. It's art ladies and gents, make it worth while! Inspirational speech over! :D
Hold RB and press down on the D pad to set a keyframe. To delete one, hold RB while you’re on it push Up on dpad (hold RB and press DPad left or right to jump to keyframes)
Let me know if this video was helpful at all or if there’s anything I forgot to mention!
You still suck at intros but everyone loves it
Hell yeah bruh you clutch as fuck, I couldn't figure out how to use the replay editor yesterday lmao
Genuinely enjoyed it the clips were sick and it really makes me want to stack some clips and get filmin !

I recommend everyone look up common skate filming techniques in real life, you could learn a lot from that stuff :-D

Dude thank you! I was doing the complete oppsite and running way too many clip points and camera spots and it was so notchy
Great tutorial my dude! This should be a solid starting point for anyone wanting to film anything in Session.
Yo Garrett, I’m never early but you’re a MASSIVE inspiration both for skating and gaming, you’re awesome n I’ve been here since 2015
Thank you so much!! ❤️
@@GarrettGinnerGaming also for ur next background monitor it should be nyan cat (10hrs epic mlg)

Would be awesome to see a side by side comparison of clips of similar tricks from real life and session
More Session More Session More Session
Session vidéo id ! You should re do real legendary line from real life in session so we can compare the game to real life ! :D

0:34 bro that was some heat, I don't know what your talking about💀💀😂😂😂
Downtown LA is available as a modded map for Session. Beta, but awesome, still.
Already know this stuff but needed hype before session and some new ideas thanks mate always a funny watch
2:37 don't know how but I literally guessed the trick you were going to do and said 'kickflip front board' out loud

I like this sessions content of skateboarding sessions and video games content sessions!
You make great clips, and thank you for the tips. My videos are getting better and better
Thank u❤ i love watching ur video and this is what i needed😂 🎉🎉 i need to start filming in session
Thank you. It was a huge help.
I'd like to see more of these to be honest it gives me a better idea on how to edit skateboard videos
Bro, this is definitely gonna help me out. I got a music video set with clips from Session ready to go.
Yes this was very helpful! Tysm

Thanks a lot of good tips this is the only part of the game that stymies me still . Great vid love the commentary very funny tutorial great vibe

Really learned alot from this vid!! Keep them coming man!!
Now that the game has launched, do you revisit these old videos? Awesome content btw. This is immensely helpful.

Look for videos with tips on how to do it with real skate clips or other sports, since the editing is basically the same
Thanks G this was really useful!!
Please make your controller overlay bigger cause its hard you keep the skater and the controller in the same field of view
I don’t even care about UA-cam but man I just wanna upload my session clips and shit Im feeling passionate as fuck about this game
Well explained!
Best tutorial!!
u did great !! just keep em coming, u gotta try everything, otherwise u will ran out of content xP

1:32-2:09 completely agree
Can you share your skating settings?
i put the key frames in place now how do i watch it to edit it? i know in skater xl u just switch to key frame mode and u can preview it
For anybody wondering since he doesn’t explain to trim clip hold R1 (PS5) and click down left stick to start and right stick to end
Whenever i play back my clip the camera doesnt follow the skater even tho i have the timelines
He also says clip it after trimming without explaining how to do so at all 😂
Is there a way to go back and see your saved clips u made
How to trim the clip? I have to scroll all the way to the point I want to start the video on
when session 1•0 is coming up
Check my line out man, just threw it up. I tried to get the camera positioned just right so I could have cool shots while skating at the same time. Took me forever to get that line.
