I just feel that since Endgame, everyone is expecting Endgame level shows and movies lol
it's not how it is, the show did well.
Which is why marvel should taken a break for a couple years to give us a break after the climax, and then rebooted with the xmen, f4, and spiderman.
Nope they just expected well written content. For the most part the competent projects post endgame have been well received like wandavision Loki or guardians. Sadly there is so little well written marvel content now and that’s the real problem. Also no one cares about echo especially without daredevil or Fisk being established in the mcu timeline. Same reason Sonys Spider-Man movies without Spider-Man are failing
They expect every movie to be infinity war & every show to be like daredevil (which isn’t as good as people make it seem)

Jei was right tho about how Native American people will be more forgiving of this show for incorporating Choctaw culture and stuff because Native American culture in media is underrepresented.

I know Kingpin being Mayor is part of the Born again comic but they kinda did that with S3 of Daredevil with him knowing who Matt is and running his life as a lawyer & Daredevil

You can tell they only cared about the diversity angle when they were making this show because the Native American heritage scenes were far and away the best and most interesting parts of the show. They need Wanda to come back and blow up the timeline because phase 5 is a lost cause at this point.

You know what solidifies that point? The fact that only one person at the red carpet had anything nice to say about the story. Literally everyone else only talked about representation.

@@jerryminta9678 It's great to have representation, and those scenes were done well but what's the point if the whole show sucks? I'm all for representation, but not at the expense of putting out a good superhero show that respects the history of the MCU. Too often nowadays, it seems like Disney starts making decisions about new films and shows from the representation angle rather than coming up with great stories to tell first before casting.
Bruh it was a good series. I enjoyed myself.

@BaithNa Marvel doesn't need to do another Endgame or Infinity War cuz I already did it. Some of us are as picky as others and some of us don't need just Daredevil or Fisk to be satisfied.
My expectations were it's gonna be ok or freaking awesome, it was good.

Another example of a marvel disney+ show with solid casting, a decent premise but trash writing, awkward and stilted dialogue, forced backstory and mythology and awkward pacing. It’s infuriating to watch this happen with these disney+ shows over and over again
Once again, Marvel puts out a trash product with surface level progressivism and they expect it to be a hit.
I miss the good old days when they focused on storytelling and characters that people like while being political. Now they expect to be heralded as heroes for the laziest representation possible.

Echo was absolute trash. So many inconsistencies.
1. Maya tried to do away with kingpin… first of all how do you fail to end someone THAT close range? And SOMEHOW he STILL has an eye????? Then you have TWO more other times to end this man’s life… and when you find out he k*lled your father, you just let him walk out?
2. she can go toe to toe with daredevil? Get real.
3. How does Fisk needs a translator SOME of the time but not all of the time? WTF??? This show was worse than Secret Invasion.
4. Why was Maya so upset with Chula? Maya’s father was the one who made her move to NY. You’re angry at the wrong person.
5. Those powers? Jesus Christ… what on earth was that garbage?🤦🏽♂🙄
6. When Maya comes back into town after 20 years, she tells Biscuits that she wants to lay low yet the FIRST place she goes is to a PUBLIC AND CROWDED skating rink????? 🤦🏽♂
7. So many times you could TELL a woman wrote this series. Sorry not sorry.

9. This is the FIRST “spotlight” show but the whole idea is that you’re not supposed to have to watch any of the other marvel movies or shows to understand what’s going on - yet this does a piss poor job of establishing this person as a new hero/character.
10. Maya is seen as a child watching her mom literally heal a bird with magic yet she has no idea and seems surprised to have visions and see her own hands glowing? GTFO.
11. Lastly, I’m not in the military but I’m pretty sure bazooka’s don’t work that way? They have to impact with something to explode, right?? They’re not like grenades that have a timed release.

Didn’t care about echo going into the show. And didn’t care by the end. I thought it will have that Ant-man effect when I don’t really know the character but marvel made me like them. It didn’t work here 😅 I cared more about daredevil and pin.
The trailer was extremely misleading...
I actually had hope for this based on the trailers and the fact that literally EVERYONE and their momma who worked on this was hyping up the TV-MA status and I came out totally bored and utterly disappointed. The story was bland, the pacing was awful, all over the place, it seemed so choppy, and the acting at some points was extremely bad. There was also nothing TV-MA about it. I agree with what you guys were saying about the desperation as well. 2 out of 10 for me.
A couple episodes in you realise the writers didn’t give af about writing a riveting story. Whole thing felt lazy as hell.

I implore everyone to watch that fight with Echo and Daredevil at a slower speed. It is actual comedy watching them fight air the entire time. The best part is when DD jumps over the gate, she grabs the sawed-off, and misses pointblank 😂😂😂
We're not meant to watch at a slower speed. Even Netflix Daredevil, watching at slow speed you notice people missing guns straight up or falling without actually being hit.
@@loganbigmo I 100% agree, but it’s noticeable regardless, and the choreography is straight up terrible to top it off. What’s even more egregious is if you start to look at the budget of these shows. First season of DD was 56 mil with 13 episodes-Marvel puts an average of 25 mil into each episode of their shows, which begs the obvious question. Only saying this because I’d rather find the humor in it than cringe the entire time.
It was trash at full speed. The punches and kicks are miles away from their targets, they're moving super slow and theirs no weight or damage from their blows. Daredevil hits her with attacks that would KO any normal villain but she just shrugs them off like her HP bar is too high for that sh*t.

There was no action just a sad depressing show. They made the king-Pin soft he should have played as an arrogant, self centered person just like the comics
This was the 2nd best Disney+ Marvel show, behind Loki (I have a minority opinion that WandaVision was absolute trash). They did an awesome job making Tamaha and its people feel like a real place. The best parts were Maya’s scenes with her people and watching her gradually drop her guard and free herself from the isolation Kingpin put her in. Where it fails is where you can tell there were full episodes and/or plot lines cut (lots of rumors of behind the scenes drama). The first episode is especially jarring and the connection between Maya and her ancestors felt forced/rushed.
The show ws cool and sets up something bigger . .. i dont think it was as bad as u guys are saying but to each his own God bless

Wasn't an ABSOLUTE disaster I'd say. I thought it was decent, apart from the finale.
I needed Echo to have an emotional catharsis moment with Bonnie, that would've been better than what happened between them imo.
Every scene with Kingpin was perfection, because its Vincent D'Onofrio as Kingpin.

Glad y'all feel the same way. So many potential opportunities missed with the show. The story was weak, writing weak and even some of the acting was just straight weak. The only highlight of the show was Black Crow Henry, I felt he was one of the few positives and had the strongest and most believable acting in the whole show. Especially his scenes where he went back and forth with Maya. Also Bonnie was a positive for me as well.

The show was ok, I’m going to mentioned again Netflix Marvel shows were better then Disney shows. Netflix had Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, And the best one Daredevil🔥 almost forgot Punisher also🔥

Did Jei say at the start that Disney+ got it 2 days after Hulu? Nah bro it dropped same day, same time. 9pm Jan 9 for us, 2am Jan 10 for you lot. Anyway yeah the show's weak. They should've dropped this in 2025 or just reshot it. It's bad. But I don't think Kingpin or Daredevil are entirely wasted. I'm hoping the upcoming Daredevil show will be better. Honestly that's my last straw; if that show ends up bad, I'm done. MCU had its heyday and it's clear they're done for.

Marvel's been dead since Endgame. Almost anything Disney touches in recent years has been trash. Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, feature animation, etc.
As a big fan of the old MCU, and knowing how much Joe used to love the MCU as well, it hurts to hear him say there is better things to look forward to but not from Marvel and he 100% correct

Overall, I liked the series but it did lack in many ways. It did seem to lack a direction it was heading in. But that might have been the point. Like the motorcycle she was stealing and ran into the police car. She seemed like a angry teen acting out the entire time. Interesting you mentioned Black Panther because there were some parallels. Like Shuri's character, she was angry and wanted to burn the world down.
The disrespect they showed, to display Maya actually somewhat keeping pace fighting Matt Murdock blew me away bruv!! I'm just glad they showed he was holding back a bit as well, I had a feeling they were gonna go that route of "No one's ever lasted as long against him!" and sure enough what did Kingpin say after he saw the footage...?

@@-441- how is it different? It was acknowledged that she been doing combat sports for 20 years (far more time then DD training) & was an enforcer for Kingpin. It was also very noticeable that DD wasn’t even trying

Combat Sports and her fighting "THE Daredevil" 1st night on the job as an "enforcer" for Kingpin all while being applauded by the man himself ("no one's ever gone that long against him for that long") makes a Rhino man fighting a trained Martial Artist very different.
@@-441- Size doesn’t work majority of the time when fighting a martial artist, put Demetrius Johnson Vs A Sumo Wrestler and Demetrius would win 10/10. Just because he’s big doesn’t mean he should be able to keep up with someone who should be as fast as spiderman and as agile as deadpool.
