FYI.........the water will flow faster if you don't stand or kneel infront of the flair. It's not just you, I've noticed alot of people do it. I like to keep my feet and any buckets on the side of whatever sluice you use.
Naturally, anything in front of the inlet flair will cause flow restriction, but it doesn,t really matter with this design!.....You can simply compensate material feed rate to match the velocity of the water. This sluice catches the Gold regardless. FYI: These sluices are designed to catch micron gold that all straight trough sluices miss. Water velocity is not as critical as straight flow design.
you measure your sidewinder sluice by total length instead of the true length... with the curves it is close to twice your stated length. I guess you never thought about that extra length?

The extra outer radius length is part of the master plan for maximum performance in a given linear area...The larger gold particles will always be caught just inside the first bend....and micron Gold will be captured in layers at the remaining bends.....Just the same way nature works in the rivers!
