This is why I love Trinidad & Tobago so much , you can't find music like this anywere else in the world ....I'm a trini at birth and i'll forever remain a trini ...
Iv seen 90 year old West Indians wheel chair bound for life. Soon as soca comes on they can not only walk but dance! Gods music right here. Soca is the medicine of life.
Tasha Jones that song will always be playing to remind us we got to go home to the Caribbean, labor day in Brooklyn was our pilgrimage but them youths spoiled it for us elders
Angels came and took you to meet your grand master and all your kin that went before you we will miss you with all of our love ,thank you for leaving Lorraine with us. .RIP.
R.I.P. Explainer 🕯🙏 Lorraine will ensure that eventhough your bags are packed and you are heading to the airport jamming with someone woman you will never be forgotten. End of an era! Classic authentic soca. Gone but will never be forgotten 😞
This is, and always will be, my No 1 fave soca track. I could cry when I hear this - and I'm an English guy from Surrey! But it puts the best kind of shivers up my spine. Perfect composition, and so happy to have heard Explainer sing it live at the ABC London Calypso Tent a few years back.
I've loved this song from when it came it out in the 80s. My dad's friend saw me singing and whining to this song and all he could do was shake his head. I love how he tells his woman stop crying he's leavin...he cyan miss de jammin' I wish I could tell someone the same thing,,,cuz I'm freezin here in Toronto...Need a soca jam.
The days when songs were 7 minutes--three or four verses, three or four choruses , similar amount of band choruses, an intro and outro and choruses repeated several times at the end---MUSIC !!!!!!!-----SWEET !!!!!----LOVING IT !!!! in 2013
❤ I was a big fan of calypso music back in the day and visited Trinidad for carnival I live in Brooklyn and went to Caribbean clubs regularly. When Explainer came out with this song so many people thought I had met him and the song was about me. Unfortunately not. I met several other calypsonians in Brooklyn but never Explainer.
I was so sorry to hear of Explainer's passing. May he rest in peace. Because I live in Brooklyn and partied at many Caribbean clubs at that time, so many people thought the song was about me. No, unfortunately, I never got to meet Explainer.
lived in usvi back in 80's, Love City, my neighbors from Dominica intruduced me to this piece of pure love. made me weep with joy then, and still so today
I'm so happy that this song has brought smiles to so many of your faces! After hearing it years ago as a child I knew I had to find it and share it. I hope you all get as much pleasure from this song as I do. I'd love to do a documentary on Explainer one day.
Reminds me of my dad who played this every Sunday without fail. He is now back in the Caribbean where he is home. Although I do miss him very much. Thanks for posting :-)
Love this song with all my heart! My favorite...takes me back to my N.Y.C. childhood...my sister had the DJ dedicate a song to me at her reception and when this came on I almost lost it..all my Trini family crowded the dance floor. Memories...
Wow, what a shocker to find this! Going back almost 40 years now, an old friend of mine went and spent part of the Summer in Antigua, staying with his brother. He heard this song a few times on the radio, never quite sure which island it was being broadcast from. Couldn't find it in any of the record stores down there either. One time he managed to catch the last couple of verses on tape (who else remembers recording songs off the radio?!? lol) and the DJ even mentioned the song title and artist at the end. That time it was just a guy's name, so I'm guessing it wasn't the same artist. I also seem to remember it not sounding as 'tinny', but it's been so long I could well not be remembering it accurately anymore. Anyway, I remember my friend playing it over and over, along with some other music he'd picked up while down there. Of all the long lost songs I've managed to look up online in recent years, this one may well be the last and biggest mystery!
ha ha ha ha my neighbor was singing this song to me a few minutes ago and it took me back to childhood. Had to find it here. Thanks for uploading it. Wow wow wow wow amazing
This song just came to me so clear in my dream just now. All I heard was I cyah miss dis jammin.. woke up and searched the lyrics and boom, Thank you for posting a Classic! 💯

Today is a sad day. RIP Winston "Explainer" Henry! We will be forever grateful for the sunshine you brought to our lives.
The Great Explainer is gone but the world will forever have Lorraine
One of the tunes that elicit the true sentiment of a Trinidadian living in the cold countries.
This is why I love Trinidad & Tobago so much , you can't find music like this anywere else in the world ....I'm a trini at birth and i'll forever remain a trini ...
This song hits differently in February in New York. RIP
