Indeed the prelude is about the bass, so most of the pianists who plays the right hand louder, then the left are on totally wrong path... Bach would rather enjoy the right hand on a muted strato and the bass on a jazz bass :-)
@@gergokovacs3332 And, yet, the last note of each 16th note triplet is very important and almost makes one want to hold those notes ever so slightly longer, especially in certain passages where they have more melodic significance and result in a duet between bass and soprano.

The sound effect of the muted harp on the second keyboard of the harpsichord is very fantastic and very interesting. Also yesterday was Bach's birthday. I'm happy for this video. Thanks Netherlands Bach Society for this video and this interpretation. Greetings from Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, México.
great little video! Tineke is an enthusiastic harpsichord- and organ-player. She knows about what she says and watching her in her own house playing and talking is wonderful!
In June 2021 Elisey Mysin played the same piece as the first item in a solo concert on the piano in the house of music Moscow when he was 10 years old.
This is so beautiful! My son has been learning to play the piano for almost a year and is now studying the first prelude of Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier. On a whim I decided to study the sixth. This is a lovely performance. Thank you!
An excellent tempo for this lovely prelude. Many people play it faster, but it certainly doesn't need to be. The fugue is also at an ideal tempo. The voucing and structure are also very good. Ornamentation is very elegant and stylish too.
ET has been ruined sense after 2+ years and assuming that I was creating these compromised harmonies. Now I hear these much differently now, and beautiful.
La dirección de fotografía brinda una atmósfera de intimidad tan acogedora: desmantela la idea de cumbre inaccesible que suele tener Das Wohltemperirte Clavier.
As inspiring as this music was the glimpse of a musician in her act of recreation. The dog was an exclamation mark, or some other symbol, highlighting this intimate event. Perhaps the dog was a stand-in for ourselves, in lieu of clapping hands.
Geweldige uitvoering, Tineke !
I like the prelude. But I agree that those triplets are a little bit breathless. Bach explores lots of different harmonies and chord progressions, which makes the prelude very interesting.
This is why I like playing the prelude by accentuating the triplets, rather than playing them almost in groups of 6 (like a lot of pianists do). This causes such interesting harmonic changes
I think the prelude isn't that easy, because its quite long and sometimes difficult to coordinate the right hand with the bass, but it's isn't difficult in comparison to other preludes. In my opinion, the prelude in C major and the prelude in c minor aren't difficult as well.
Historical tuning. A at about 390 (didn't check exactly, but that's what it is). Also not an equal temperament but an approximation of what Bach may have used - check out articles on his signature and the possible connection to the tuning system he may have used. In this way, each key has a slightly different tone and therefore a different character.
People aren't born with ears tuned to A440. A440 didn't become a pitch standard until the 1950s, and then only after decades of lobbying by American wind instrument builders. Pitch standards have always been determined by the pitch required by the wind instruments of the time.
Bach made this music for harpsichord, there is just no other explanation actually, i wish she used the brighter tone for the prelude but still I can't play it myself so just saying
@Andrea Sinka Nope, it's for keyboard (the original meaning of 'Klavier'). And at the time, the existing keyboards were: harpsichord, clavichord, and organ. The latter would probably not give the clarity desired. (As a piano major in college, I wish we could lay claim to the WTC, but alas - no such luck.)
Thank you for your lovely words! The harpsichord is tuned in 415 Hz, which basically means that everything a half tone lower (D minor sounds like D flat minor). AllofBach made a video on the use of musical pitch: ua-cam.com/video/a_82tmeYEyo/v-deo.htmlsi=nnuFaCbBuQTsw4Gn

Ok??
Thanks for playing the prelude at such a right tempo which allows to savor every note in it. Great performance!
Sono d'accordissimo😊
Totally agree!
This tempo makes it sound far more graceful than the faster interpretations I've heard. Well done!
Much better on a harpsichord (too).
You almost hear the full orchestra from just two voices on the prelude

You can see how she is touching the strings. And then the chords touch her, and me.
En dat allemaal bij mij om de hoek. :-) Ze speelt met haar gezicht volledig mee en dat is zo .... ? extra?1 🙂
Tempo Indications:
Prelude: Allegro moderato
Fugue: Andante
Bach doesn't provide any tempo indications.
My favorite prelude. And one of the easiest to play without technique

@Fransisco Mourato
The c major is really easy but isn't the c minor pretty damn fast ?

Could I borrow your harpsichord? I really wanna play some Forqueray :(
Can someone please explain me why does it sound on D flat minor?? am I the only one who noticed or my speakers doesn't work anymore?

I think that would be the same play which bach heard. Proper progress with harpscichord
