When i was growing up, we were poor so we got our school supplies from a community help place. I never got to pick out my own backpack but i am so thankful out community had things like that for us. :)
I’m in Ohio and our schools start the last week of August here. It’s mostly bc the buildings do not have air conditioning so they try to have a later start date. Also, our warmest months are usually late May-late September. You are so much fun to watch/listen to! Thanks for your content. Have a wonderful weekend!
I think it’s a huge life saver that north ga where I live, provides all the school supplies for the kids. It’s awesome. Definitely takes away the stress.
Just here to say please keep it up. I lost my dad last night & I found myself coming to your channel for some comfort. It was just relaxing & what I needed to clear my head. Thanks for being a huge help.
Wow! School always starts September 1st in Belgium, for all students except when you’re in college or in uni 😅 The only places that are open pretty much everyday is daycare and even they close for 2 weeks (or more, depending on the place) for summer holidays 😊 It’s so interesting to see how other countries do it! School starts on September 1st; then we have one week off during Halloween; then 2 weeks off for Christmas; then 1 week off in February; then another 2 weeks off for Easter. School stops on June 30th and it starts again on Sept. 1st. We also have holidays during the week so, depending on which day those holidays are, kids get “mini vacations” And, when it comes to back to school shopping, I always try to re-use what my son has from last year. I usually just buy extra pencils, erasers, pens, maybe a binder or two just in case and I order new name labels (if it’s necessary).
We don't have kids so honestly I'm not sure what/when school starts and stops lol. But I will say, seeing all the supplies out right now brings back memories of when I was in school and would get so excited to get mine. I'd organize and reorganize them so many times... loved it!!
Nobody always has a clean house, and if they say they do, they’re lying! Nice job. The smell of that soil does fade over time. I plant my tomatoes in that on our deck in planters and it stinks something fierce for a while. 😖
Girl, you are my soul sista!! I used to put so much pressure on myself to clean my whole house at one time or have EVERYTHING done and I have just come to accept that I'm not that person, lol. I have to push myself to go ahead and do things and not put them off and THAT'S OKAY! Thank you for reminding me that I am still SUPERMOM in my own way. Love you gurl!
What a joy to see a new video .. waiting to see it .. an affectionate hug from Chile .. it's 2:23 in the morning .. but I can't wait until tomorrow ...
@@JoannaThornton Girl, I have not even started preparing. This North Carolina heat aint no joke. But I did wanna say, my littles starts kindergarten this year. So we are so excited about getting ready for school. OH and about the mopping ordeal, dont feel bad at all. My floors are lucky to see an actual mop every few weeks. I keep spills and stickyness mopped up, but as far as a whole house deep clean mop, that only gets done when I literally cant take it anymore 🤣🤷♀️
Hi Joanna, I'm in NZ. The school year started in Feb and will end in Dec. We have four terms and after each term (10-12 weeks) - except the last which we have a 6week Christmas break - we have a 2 week school holiday. We also have public holidays which usually give us a long weekend for example waitangi day, Easter, queen's bday, labour day and then each region has an anniversary day. Our summer is in December so we have a "kiwi Christmas". I love Christmas in the sun. I am totally a procrastinator about back to school but wish I wasn't. My kids are actually in the first week of the school holidays right now. They go back on the 26th July into the third term and then break again on the 1st Oct till the 18th onto the fourth term and then end the school year on the 17th Dec for 6 weeks of summer fun. I'm lucky enough that my work closes for 4 weeks over the summer so we all get a break
Girl those snacks aren’t even bad! Love you! We will go back to school the end of August or the beginning of September. School ends the beginning of June. Back to school shopping is like not as on it as I should be honestly!
Hi Joanna.. I mop once every weekend.. We have no rugs or carpet but we keep a shoes rack by the front door.. its a lot of floor to be mopping thats why I perfer once every weekend it can be exhausting
Hi, Joanna! In the school system here in central Ohio where I taught before I retired, school usually gets out at the end of May or the first few days of June. Typically they start back in the late teens/early twenties of August. I'd go in around August first to get my classroom ready-- I loved classroom setup! My kids and I would have a "last hurrah" day before we all went back where we'd go out for lunch and just have a great time. Memories! ❤
@@JoannaThornton The first one was when Jared (who turned 27 today!) was starting Kindergarten. He and I went to The Cheesecake Factory. He wanted to know if we needed to take the cloth napkin home and wash it because he got chocolate on it 🤣. The lady next to us thought that was adorable (it really was ❤). We kept the tradition going even after they went to college.
Here in Portugal the summer school break is 2 weeks of june, july, august and like 1 or 2 weeks of september. Felling lucky right now!!! Loved the video!
We're in Minnesota and our schools typically (not all) start back up after Labor Day. I usually end up waiting till the last 2 weeks before school starts to even think about getting supplies and clothes.
Hi Joanne the soil your using is actually a great choice and the smell does actually improve as time goes on so if you can put up with it till then it will be a perfect long term choice for your plants.
I work at a year round school and we are back to school already…we started on July 8th. My daughter starts Kindergarten at the end of August…she’s at a traditional calendar school!
Hi Joanna, have you ever tried switching the couch with where the armchair is? So the couch is “open” when you walk into the room, rather than seeing the back of the couch? You could also put those planters under the windows in the living room! It would bring nature in in such a wonderful way. Love your channel, especially when you do dishes and laundry. I also love that you clean the whole toilet and not just the seat! Thanks for all the motivation ❤️
Here in Turkey summer holiday for schools starts at second or third week of June and ends at third week of September. It is a long vacation :) and also there is winter break at the last week of January and it's last for 2 weeks. There are also mid-term holidays for primary school for 1 week for each semester. Lots of love from here!
I was so excited to see you had posted a new video today! Thank you for everything you do and just know you are an inspiration to me as a stay at home mom of 2 and someone who suffers from anxiety and depression your videos help give me the motivation I need!!
Hi sweet lady loving the planners what a great idea. My son is a teacher and he doesn't have summer break until nexted week and goes back to school in September here in the uk.
I’m so sensitive to smells too and I have tried several different types of soil and never find anything and always just end up putting the plants outside! If you find something let me know! I love the natural greenery and life they bring into the home! Love the organization and can’t wait to see your island vision come to life!
School starts for my kiddo Mid-August. We typically end school towards the end of May. Back to School supplies are sitting on my desk at the moment waiting to be labeled 😅 only think I slack in is back to school uniform shopping. Which I should put on my list now where we don’t have to deal with larger crowds of picked over sections. I mop about every week to two weeks 😅 I sweep everyday but my house is an open concept and our living room takes up majority of the space which is carpeted. I love how you are so practical and honest (true mom moments) because it takes me days to touch every area. Main area is always tidy but with kids… it will look one way in the morning and by evening it’s just all messy.
Spiders can't attach webs to surfaces that have been cleaned with pledge, and most don't like the feel when walking on it. We used to get webs ALL OVER and especially on the underside of our entertainment center. Bug sprays did nothing. Gave it a REALLY deep clean with pledge, and haven't seen a single spider near it since :)
Here in our country philippines.. They start the school in the middle of june until march...we do have some holidays in between too....thank you for the video...so relaxing and inspiring...
You can add some little "river" rocks on top of the soil, and they will make a barrier for the smell, and also prevent erosion on the soil when you water it. Hope you find it helpful
We are in GA as well and go back August 4th I am in Henry County and we basically have off every 6 weeks and have a week off. It is great. I grew up in NY and we went back day after Labor Day and we had off for Columbus day, 3 days for Thanksgiving, Jewish holidays, and got off for feb, april breaks and ended in June. It was an adjustment coming here. We came in Aug 13 and had just had a month off and had to start right away.
Absolutely loved the organization . I loved the entry way table so kinda bummed it had to go. But you do you Hun. Whatever you come up with always turns out amazing so can't wait to see the finished look.
Loved you video! The best part was the craft organization. That hit home. Just loved it! I subscribed, Cant wait to see more. Crafts and Tools are my big thorn. I am will to listen. Have a great day!
Our school here in Central Texas starts Aug 18th we are in school through the end of May.. summer normally in texas is hott 110 degrees with the heat index hotter.. this year we have not hit out 100 degrees and we have had alot of rain this year.
My kids start back to school on August 18th here in Ohio. They are attending Summer Academy right now which is only for 3 weeks. It’s basically more of a fun environment with a little bit of learning thrown in. I’m almost done buying school supplies for my daughter but the teachers haven’t updated the supply list for my son yet.
Here in New Zealand kids get 6+ weeks off over summer starting the week before Christmas at the latest. They also get three two week breaks throughout the year.
Hi Joanna, I cannot stress enough how much I love you and your videos, you are just so sweet, even though I haven’t met you I can see you are such a wonderful Mum. I love your videos so much and I love your voice over to. You are such a hard worker, thank you for sharing a bit of your life with us. God bless you and your family 🦘🇦🇺🐨❤️💓
Here in Belgium the summer holiday for the kids are the months July and August. So 8 full weeks, which is very long. The school year starts on September 1st and ends June 30th. We have 1 week fall break, then 2 weeks over the holidays, 1 week spring break, 2 weeks easter holidays. And in between a few Christian holidays and a few other local holidays. Unfortunately, only for the kids :-) As working adults, we have 20 calender days per year and then overtime if you work it.
Love your videos! My kids go back July 29th end of the week Start for us as well. I can't believe summer vacation is almost over! Thank You for all the motivation ❤️
It’s so great that the kids are so into being creative. What do you do with all the papers that are generated every day by the kids ? The drawings, the stories, the games ….. that’s the real organizational challenge 😜
I won’t lie to you, I throw 95% of it away. 🙈 But I made bins for each kid a few years ago and if they make something really special or creative, we definitely save it. 💗
I used to give the grandparents pictures in frames. Or if they made paintings or drawings on large pieces of paper I would use them as wrapping paper. Also my niece's and nephew and my boys all had scrap books and when they were older I would give them as presents. Lol they had great fun remembering.
Love the front planters 🌵🌱 but make sure you have drainage because otherwise it will cause gnats and etc bugs. 😝 I love having the little things organized - it's fun. That was neat seeing you do the art supplies. 🎨🙂
I live in Queensland Australia, we are currently in the middle of winter. Our summer is December until the end of February. Although where I live it is very hot during spring and summer, and the first half of autumn.
In my country United Arab Emirates summer start from mid of March to end of September and in June, July and August the temperature reach 50 C. My kids school will start end of August.
One of my friends found a top soil dressing made from chocolate hulls, or whatever part of chocolate that is hard. Apparently it smells quite yummy. She used it outside. I don't know anything about it, but it might be worth a try...
My son finishes for summer in July and goes back to school in September in the Uk. I've got back to school sorted already. Easier than running around a few days before school starts
We live in Australia, Summer holidays for us goes for 6 weeks, (2 weeks in December and 4 weeks in January) That is when it’s the hottest here. They also get 2 weeks off every 10 weeks in April, July and September ☺️
I completely fall in love with your organizing. Like I hear myself saying “oh if she would turn that package the other way she could get more” and then magically you hear me and do that very thing! 😂 usually though you do yours exactly like I would. I love watching it!!! ❤️❤️
Hola me encanto para organizar los lápices colores y todo eso 🥰 y también que bonito el mueble para las plantitas 🌿 queda muy bien con la decoración 🏡🤗 saludos.
I just tried the ocedar spin mop 2 days ago! Loved it since you can go all the way to AND up the baseboards. I liked it so much that I mopped my kitchen, then 3 of our bathrooms.
I live in Finland. Our summer vecation starts about in the beginning of June and we go back to school about in the middle of August. This year it's the 10th of August I think. We also have fall vecation in October (one week), Christmas vecation which is about two weeks including new years time and winter vecation in February (one week). Oh and kids go to first grade at the age of seven. Love your videos and first time I leave a comment 😊
I love your videos!!!!! You’re awesome, such a cleaning rockstar. I usually can’t sit and watch your videos all at once because I get so motivated to get up and do my own things. I love cleaning with you! Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. I’m sure it is more of an investment than I’ll ever know. I appreciate you.
I got 4 kids too so I start shopping sometimes in may before school is even out. It’s way better for me then waiting till the last month or I’m way too overwhelmed. It helps my anxiety so much to get a head start. My kids go back august 5th too.. we get out at the end of may! I’m not ready for my kids to go back but I’m so ready for the routine part to be back. I do better on routine
Here in South Africa schools are currently on a mid year winter break until 26 July then there's usually a week break in September when it's spring and then a month long summer break from December to January. My kids are still both in day care and they are open year around and only close for 3 weeks in December for summer break. I am starting to make lists of stationary for them which they will need for next year so that I don't buy every thing at once and space it out
We are in Central Texas. We are done a few days before Memorial Day and then the kids typically go back mid August. This year I have a kid going into 7th grade and I have no idea what she will need, so I am going to grab her a notebook and then we will go shopping after the first few days. She was virtual only last year so we never dealt with it. She had a notebook for each class and didn’t even really need those. I’ll go school shopping with my 2nd grader near the end of July/early August.
Our school year starts in early September after the county and state fairs (farming community usually has a lot of 4-H kids out) and we get late May. This is my daughter's first full year of school (I work 3rd shift so my daughter is open-enrolling in my old school and spends nights at my parents to go to school in the morning), so this is all new to me... Kindergarten here we come!!!
Summer holidays here are about 6 weeks, usually from the middle of December onwards till the start of February. Then 2 weeks holiday over Easter time which is Autumn. Another 2 weeks now, which is Winter (my kids go back to school July 26th) then another 2 weeks in October which is Spring. We're in New Zealand 😊
Morning Joanna... We start back to school in August they got out in May. Mop about 2 times a week. Vacuum every day, sometimes twice a day as we have 2 dogs that shed horribly. Joanna, you look like you have lost weight.. hope your feeling well 💗 Love how you organize and nice containers. You come up w/great ideas.
In Ireland primary schools kids have end of june until end of August off. The secondary schools (high school) have 3 months off for summer 😎 oh btw the craft supplies organisation was super satisfying 💕💕
August 23 will be our LAST first day of school. My "baby" will be a senior this year. Lots of lasts this coming year, so we'll see how this goes. Our "olders" finished school way earlier. They're 27 & 25, so we just have the 18-year-old now. Enjoy all the little things while they last.
I just wanna say, I really enjoy ur channel !! Ur so honest and realistic! We need that visual of being a UA-camr!! I have a small channel and have high hopes🥰 you definitely inspire me 💕
Happy Monday! Great video. I’m glad you don’t get everything done all in one day. Spending time with your kids is more important. I’m jealous of that art supply drawer. And mop as needed. No need to mop a clean floor. Lol. Have a great week.
Here in the UK the children finish school next week until beginning of September, we have half term every 6/7 weeks where they have a week off we also have the odd Bank holiday day off on a Monday
Your videos always a treat! Excited for kitchen island makeover and to see your outdoor table setup!! Spiders don’t like the smell of peppermint…. allegedly lol. Maybe spray a peppermint cleaner or some essential oils in those dark spots of the house?

Summer here in Ontario, Canada is the whole month of July and August. Kids go back to school after the September labor day weekend.
I love your sense of humor! Can’t wait for the next video!!!
Oh i love the planters!! And the color organization was so fun to watch!! 🥰
I love having the little things organized - it's fun. That was neat seeing you do the art supplies. 🎨🙂
Your organization looks so nice the drawer and the table top. You worked hard and the house looks good. 👍🏾❤❤❤
I live in Queensland Australia, we are currently in the middle of winter. Our summer is December until the end of February. Although where I live it is very hot during spring and summer, and the first half of autumn.
Same holidays here in NZ. The whole country basically shuts down for those six weeks, lol! We're all at the beach...
In my country United Arab Emirates summer start from mid of March to end of September and in June, July and August the temperature reach 50 C. My kids school will start end of August.
I love your videos very motivating! You have a beautiful home and I enjoy watching your videos
One of my friends found a top soil dressing made from chocolate hulls, or whatever part of chocolate that is hard. Apparently it smells quite yummy. She used it outside. I don't know anything about it, but it might be worth a try...
Commenting as I’m watching : the crayon organizers are so cute!!!
My son finishes for summer in July and goes back to school in September in the Uk. I've got back to school sorted already. Easier than running around a few days before school starts
We live in Australia,
Summer holidays for us goes for 6 weeks, (2 weeks in December and 4 weeks in January) That is when it’s the hottest here.
Here in Greece our summer break is three months🌞🌞🌞. I love your videos and your sweet voice.
I just tried the ocedar spin mop 2 days ago! Loved it since you can go all the way to AND up the baseboards. I liked it so much that I mopped my kitchen, then 3 of our bathrooms.
so satisfying, here school resumes on September 1st (Belgium)
Enjoyed the video and I love the planter boxes. I’ll have to purchase a couple of those.
I live in New York and I’m 14, I go on summer break around June 24th and I go back to school around September 5th every year!
You’re so sweet! It’s 100% worth all the work, time, and energy to be able to connect with y’all! 🥰
Joanna, you look like you have lost weight.. hope your feeling well 💗
Love how you organize and nice containers. You come up w/great ideas.
Our school year is alot like yours. I mop at the least once a week.
In Ireland primary schools kids have end of june until end of August off. The secondary schools (high school) have 3 months off for summer 😎 oh btw the craft supplies organisation was super satisfying 💕💕
Thanks for another great video. I had a nice time hanging with ya😁
You should try the Miracle- Gro indoor potting mix it doesn’t have offensive odors. Best of luck.🙂
I really like Jungle potting soil for inside and out.
Thank you! 💗
Also Miracle Gro has been having issues with gnats in the soil
@@deniselewallen6003 yes it has.
@@deniselewallen6003 its beyond annoying! we have sooooo many gnats in our new plants!
You are amazing 👏 I appreciate how relatable you are and I look to you for help in snack ideas. Love all of your content. Keep on being awesome 😊
Awww thank you Katherine! 😭💜
I just wanna say, I really enjoy ur channel !! Ur so honest and realistic! We need that visual of being a UA-camr!! I have a small channel and have high hopes🥰 you definitely inspire me 💕
Loved the organizing and cleaning keep it up!!😊
Love the color coordinated organization. ❤️❤️
Happy Monday! Great video. I’m glad you don’t get everything done all in one day. Spending time with your kids is more important. I’m jealous of that art supply drawer. And mop as needed. No need to mop a clean floor. Lol. Have a great week.
It is SO much more important. The house can always wait. 🥰
Here in the UK the children finish school next week until beginning of September, we have half term every 6/7 weeks where they have a week off we also have the odd Bank holiday day off on a Monday
Kids go back to school in September after labour day long weekend. We are in Woodstock Ontario Canada.
Your videos always a treat! Excited for kitchen island makeover and to see your outdoor table setup!! Spiders don’t like the smell of peppermint…. allegedly lol. Maybe spray a peppermint cleaner or some essential oils in those dark spots of the house?
Omg Mark's face literally made me laugh out loud!! My husband makes that face too when I'm being extra and organizing things!! :D
Hello, the ocedar spin mop is awesome, I’ve been using it for several years now, don’t use fabric softener on the mop heads if you decide to get one.
I loveeeee my Ocedar mop so much! 💜
