@@Soulraven2735 Well, I don't want to be a downer as such but the distinction between these two situations is huge. I am a mathematician and I can tell you the nonsense of this conclusion. The math outframe in which pi is defined is very rigurous. Real numbers are formed as dedekind cuts. Using this one has to apply field theory which is rigorously defined and analysis which is also rigurously defined both using a system of axioms which are accepted as true. If you gave words in math different definitions, then the results would ultimately be the same but for the newly defined thing.
There are actually systems of mathematics where pi doesn't even exist and one comes from the constructionists and the reason it doesn't exist is because you can obtain the real numbers using finite constructions.
With the trans issue, you both have different sets of definitions and are arguing definitions.
I see the intersex thing and I get further confused. Because in alot of mathematics there is a sense of almost everywhere, especially in mondern analysis which says it is true but there are exceptions. That would play the same way with intersex if you used the conservatives definition of gender which is esseintially sex.
Taking this to the realm of mathematics does not really help your cause. It actually only makes it worse.

As an intersex person, I've spoken to conservatives about the trans movement. Many are receptive, but a (minority) of them will straight up talk about how I shouldn't exist.
This genocidal movement is mostly being pushed by the GOP politicians (both actively and passively, they’re *all* to blame) and the small percentage of voters who are in Neo-Nazi/Hate groups.
I mean it's in their rhetoric, they whine about how society is changing to accommodate for (what they view as) a small and insignificant minority that no one should care about. So of course some conservatives will literally not care at all about the existence and well-being of minorities like intersex individuals.
Of all things legislation could address, why are they obsessed with gender?
I think you should exist of course. I feel like they are using intersex people (who may not be trans) and their real medical issue and it’s offensive.

Biggest lie I was told while growing up is that Conservatives are on the side that values freedom.
There is a natural cycle of conservativism being shattered by liberalism then reconstituting itself by appropriating the ideas that defeated it - starting with science and liberty during the Enlightenment, moving onto racial/gender equality, and more recently sexual preferences and anti-militarism. While they match the accepted rhetoric in order to survive, in spirit they just want to go back to being stone age barbarians who can murder their neighbors and capture their women as sex slaves. They pass down the resentment of every ideological battle lost throughout the centuries, which the reactionary in this video gives you insight into by lamenting the defeats that occurred before he was even born (he won't be specific on what those defeats were, because once again, he has to be a sneaky little chameleon to survive).
Conservatives are called "conservatives" because they seek to conserve tradition. Such values don't blend well with the idea of freedom.
And that centrists are the "most intelligent" because they "look at both sides"

No trans person has read this. Because no one has successfully transitioned yet. That's not to say that it won't be possible someday with more advanced medical technology than we currently have. But to speak of trans people now before the capability disrespects the real trans people who may actually exist in the future. If it were the year 2500 and I just paid good money to have my molecular transition. I would take issue with the fake trans believers of the 21st century.

I live in Tennessee, and the shit people feel comfortable saying publicly about trans people here is wild... absolutely terrifying the amount of vitriol that is casually expressed by both laymen and pundits. I'm scared for the safety of my trans friends, and partially for myself (I'm gay and gender-nonconforming, so I get targeted by proxy often.) I've started to carry a self-defense knife more diligently, because I've been confronted in bathrooms and harassed in the street. It's getting bad down here folks, anti-queer violence is brewing and bubbling up... all that, plus the actual state laws that are being passed to attack us. I don't know how much longer it'll be possible for queer folks to live here.
As a fellow Tennessean, the stuff that goes on down here is truly frightening and awful. Stay safe, and stay strong! ❤️

As a trans guy it's not even "by proxy" at this point imo. Their ultimate goal is to enforce rigid gender roles that effectively erase the existence of all queer people and any who refuse the cookie cutter mold of patriarchal norms. As far as they're concerned you *are* the correct target for their violence regardless of if you actually ID as trans.
That said, yes, please arm yourself, take self defense classes, anything you can. Our community has survived this before and although it’s horrific that it's happening again we'll get through this together.🫂

Politicians say dumb stuff like this all the time. If it miraculously passed congress, it would still be bogged down in court procedures so long you’d forget it even was a thing. Until finally, several years down the line, you’d be reminded of it when the courts’ ruling find it violates several constitutional amendments.
Things like this that are impossible to enforce tend to go nowhere. Even laws that are on the books get completely ignored by law enforcement when the laws are impossible to enforce.

@@ChiWillett It depends. They technically have the numbers (2/3 needed; House is 68% GOP and Senate is 72.5% GOP; 84 voted needed to override in the House and 27 in the Senate). But not everyone will support the override. In 2021 the compositions were almost the same as now (with the GOP having 1 less House seat) yet they failed to override a trans sports veto. They failed again on a similar bill in 2022. The House hasn’t voted on it yet but whether they’ll have enough wiggle room to override the veto is unclear. The Senate will be tougher, since 27 votes are needed to override a veto and they had 26 Yes votes on the initial vote. It’s definitely a possible threat but everything would need to go right for them

To be fair, they are correct that Progressives have been making gains over time. We HAVE been making gains for at least the past 10,000 years since we have started building civilizations and during all that time, the more Conservative people have been in one of two camps. They either want to bring society back to an earlier time or are comfortable with the current status but think it would destroy society to go any further. That pattern has been consistent since human civilization started. The gains of the past that we appreciate now have ALWAYS required a fight by the progressives of that time.
Whole point of conservatism is to "lose", perpetually. So what Knowles is saying is what is supposed to happen, all the time.
Progressivism is the engine, and conservatism is the brake. Not the reverse gear. It's in the name, it is to "conserve/maintain status quo", not "regression".

If the policies of social media platforms actually worked the way they're meant to, these accounts would have been banned and taken down a long time ago. Now we have people who feel we should listen to both sides when one of those sides calls for the end of people's lives.
The pendulum swing of progression and regression has made us so far behind. Trans people have been studied for over a century, and we have to argue whether or not they're still valid. We shouldn't be lagging behind this much, and we do it more and more when we platform these types of people. Hearing both sides out doesn't work when one side's argument is just to stay stagnant after tearing down decades of progress.

I live in Northern California and work in the restaurant industry with a high volume of trans folks and other individuals in the LGBTQ+ community. I haven't ever encountered any weird trans rituals or seen any issues with bathrooms in the workplace... In fact, on the topic of bathrooms, most of the employee restrooms at places I have worked, if not all, are described similarly to the 'wild west' where you just get in when you can. I'm not quite sure how to feel listening to ol' dude over here use "women's only bathrooms" and "transing our kids" as arguments against the existence of trans/gay/etc. Not sure how to feel as in to laugh at him hysterically or be angry with the rhetoric. It just seems so common sense and easy to understand that 'fascism bad, let a muhfucker live their damn life.' That whole transing our kids BS is irritating to no end as well. Plop any conservative into a drag show without telling them what it is and I guarantee they'll think it's just any other fashion show. (Which they are) but trans bad I guess.
I frequently have debates with my dad as he's drifted farther right about the dangers of people like DeSantis and the radical push of fascist ideals amongst conservatives since Trump's presidency. He tends to just shrug it off and ignore what I'm saying, opting to stick what he believes. It's frustrating, seeing rights literally be stripped away from people around the country and to see people I respect put their minds behind it. The type of brainrot you get, is like this... He cited an article trying to defend the Don't Say Gay bill, an article which pointed out all of the dangers of said bill and argued against it. It's such a disappointing time to live in, this post-Trump era. I suppose this is just what people were dealing with before and even during Obama's presidency, with all of the progressive work of that administration now being rolled back. (This is about domestic policy not Obama bombing brown people.)
A cold irony to what the talking head in the video was saying is he uses the protection of women and women's rights as an aegis for corrupt policy all while turning around and snatching rights away from those same people. I'd be willing to bet he has a video talking along the lines of how we need to ban abortion immediately, citing pseudo-science about life at conception and God - all used as a ploy to rip away a *should be* basic human right to decide what happens inside of their own body. The amount of mental gymnastics that the far right and even now the average viewer has to do to hold their beliefs is astonishing. Michael Knowles has pretty blatantly placed himself to the right of Ben Shapiro and arguably even Matt Walsh at least when it comes to theocratic beliefs. His video "Germany: The Worst Country in History" (which came out about 4 years ago) named Martin Luther as being one of the BIGGEST reasons in his video. If I recall correctly, he basically argued that the existence of Martin Luther was one of the worst things to ever happen.
In case anyone is uniformed of Christian or Protestant history, Martin Luther is credited with being the primary force behind the Protestant Reformation, which resulted in the Protestant Catholic divide. This "Reformation" started with Martin Luther's criticism of "indulgences" (basically, donations made to the church which were "a way to reduce the amount of punishment one has to undergo for sins" - per Wikipedia) and said criticism almost got him punished with being burned at the stake if not for being rescued by German princes who were fed up with the total, and absolute authority of the Catholic Church.
Knowles argues in the video that this was not just a bad thing, but one of the worst things to ever happen in human history.
TO CLARIFY: Michael Knowles has literally said that a guy escaping the punishment of being burned alive for saying its wrong to tell people that they could buy themselves into heaven was one of the worst things to happen in human history.
He fundamentally believes that the Catholic Church should have total authority over humanity and definitely is not a "soft" conservative.

I was taking to one of my non white friends about this stuff and was talking about that bill that’s advancing in Arkansas that would make it illegal for a trans person to use public restrooms in front of minors and he said, “now do you see why I’m so scared when we drive through those places?!” And I was like, yah , I really don’t want to do go to those states now. He said that’s what it feels like to be a racial minority in the south still. Like… damn bro… I think I finally get it now…
So here's the good about the Kansas bill. It definitely won't become law. The governor will veto the bill, she's vetoed anti-trans bills before. By one vote, It also didn't pass the state senate with enough votes to override a veto. So at the very least, Kansas won't adopt this bad law. The fact it's only one vote short is disgusting but take wins where you can get them.
But then there's the question of what happens after her term is up.
I don't think this is entirely about the bill. It's the cultural and political atmosphere which allows these people to be this open about their mad shit beliefs.
As a trans person, I'm updating my passport. I'm safe in California but I'm not taking chances if a republican gets into the white house.
reading these comments, I'll offer another approach. I am someone who left the US in disgust 2 years. Now I have guaranteed human rights. I have guaranteed healthcare. I have guaranteed housing and free education opportunities. I legally immigrated to Uruguay, a small country in south america with a strong human rights index and stable government and currency. If you can work remotely making at least $1200 / month, this is the time, take the plunge. A better life exists. There are challenges. The infrastructure here needs work, and many local jobs don't pay very well. There is poverty here as well. These are facts. However, the people here are the BEST, they're friendly and accepting, overwhelmingly so. The culture is as beautiful as the scenery. All of us know what living under fascism is like. It's fine if you're the "us" (and you're a sociopath), but it's scary AF when you're the "them". If you have the ability to work remotely making a fairly meager wage, very seriously consider what I have written. A better life exists.
