WOW HAD NO IDEA THE BUICK RIVERA WAS TURBO CHARGED! 😲 I use to own the 85 Rivera last year they made that body style. Currently I have an 83 Buick Rivera and I still love it. Bought back in 2015 it hasn't needed anything yet. 🙌
Beautiful car and great video. My family had a Riv and we loved it dearly. There were quality foibles on ours, such as paint flaws, trim falling off, etc but nothing ever stranded us. I was very disappointed when my folks traded it in for an early nineties Regal.
I had 3 of these sweet Rivi's; the first one was a 1979 that someone had put a weakling 307 in it. The next one was a 1980 with the 350, and my last one was an 1982 that had the diesel engine that had been updated to the 350DX diesel engine. It melted it down due to a damned idiot Temp light. The bulb worked, but I guess the sensor was bad. That engine was rock solid till that happened. I loved them all so much; especially the diesel one. I wish I could find a garage full that's been restored, and a another garage with a stack of old stock sealed crate 350DX diesel engines since they no longer manufacture them. I know my grammar sucks in this post, but it'll all be alright!!!
...thanks for the very interesting background information on the LaserDisc. I remember the first one I saw was a video album of Blondie's EAT TO THE BEAT.
This sounds like Edward Binns, the character Actor doing the Voice Over. He was all over the place in TV show's in the 60's and 70,s. He was also one of "The 12 Angry Men" of the movie.
I love that perfectly flat floor, without a confining center console. But for some reason, GM only rated these cars (at least the '79s) for 4 passengers. I don't know if they ever upped that to 5 the way they did for the J cars.
As a kid, I used to love this car. Its companion cars were also nice (the Toronado and the Eldorado), but the Riv was my favourite. Did I miss where the fault was in this video?...
One of the most beautiful cars ever!
one of the best looking cars ever made
mark marshall Toronado looked better.
@@matthewharhai4039 to you...we all have different opinions. To me the Eldorado looked even better.
I always like a short, tight, lean rear end.
I love the disco-type music in this video
Good job holding that door open for the ladies. Smooth.

My dad had a 1980 with the olds 350. It was a very good looking car by 1980 standards and quick relative to that dark era.
I had a 1985 Somerset until this summer when it died and im lookin to buy a 79 Riviera i loved my Somerset so much.
Your going to love the riv just as much good luck.

it is a buckin' battleship, right here. Superb.

In 1979, the three GM E-bodies won MT car of the year; the Cadillac Eldorado, Buick Riviera and Oldsmobile Toronado.

New buicks lack the character these classics had.
I have one to was thinking of selling it but not any more
1980 Buick Riviera S-Type Turbo the most powerful Buick ever made my opinion
Buick Riviera,1979-85 the new downsized toronado, the only E body car worth buying.
What is the name of this narrator? His voice was so prevalent during the mid 1970s to mid 1980s.
thanks for sharing
