I've actually seen a good deal about the Loopy but this is the first video I've seen about this console , and the first information I've really got about it beyond mere dribs and drabs. I wrote that this is the one I wanted to see you cover from the introduction video, as you occasionally ask people what they want to have you cover next ;and coincidentally here it is less than two weeks later, very very pleased, indeed!
Would love to see your take on the Loopy -as it's not exactly been covered by the best and the brightest so far. (that I've seen anyway)
You've really found quite a grand niche here what with the compelling obscurities; and in my humble opinion your videos have come an astoundingly long way: from competent and controversial, to downright authoritative ,and all in a very short time.
As you are producing content at a prodigious rate I wonder how many more things there are to cover? In my opinion you should feel free to explore more mainstream obscurities like the Texas Instruments TI 4A, ColecoVision Adam, the complete intellivision computer set Etc, I would personally like to see the complete Famicom set with all of the accessories, I hear they even had a cassette Drive?
I own that system (brand new, never opened). Thank you, for putting this obscure system back into the light, THGM! It is the first time that I see a documentary on the subject. Well researched, with tons of info.... Great job!
Your knowledge on retrogaming its mindblowing. Any videos on Zemmix?
Man....love your videos. You do a great job with them. Always interesting videos that I enjoy
I'd love to see you cover the Daewoo Zemmix, there's so little information about it out there since it was only released in South Korea.
Hello THGM, nice and thorough analysis! Very informative, as usual. You have a lot of energy to do these videos, dude.
I'm entranced by the 80s low-fi synth version of California Girls playing under this episode @ 7:30
1:55 CORVETTE Lookin fresh 👌👌👌
Great video as usual
Just need to point out. That cigarette ring was from a time before cigarettes had filters. So one of the primary functions was the ability to smoke down the cigarette to almost nothing, without burning your fingers, or staining them yellow/brown with nicotine. Plus a handsfree cigarette holder, what a novel idea.
I do really like the idea of having both hands and your mouth free while smoking.
I love that yo bro beach boys soundtrack lol that was my childhood. You've used music from that game in videos before if I recall correctly
Richard: "i'm getting rid of all my consoles and games, im sick of them"
Top Hat Gaming man: "I've bought 50 new consoles."
LMAO! They are not mine they belong to Quang, the UKs largest system collector.
Awesome video. I've never heard of this system, I hit sub for more rare console histories.
Great job love the music now I will be humming it lol
You might want to check out the video mod I've developped for the Epoch Cassette Vision. Will improve quality by 30 %.
I played Periscope in arcades in the 70's.
How do expect me to not click on a sexy pic of the Casio PV-1000 ? Haha great vid as always.
Yeah love the top hat good video dude
I was just researching this console!
That 90's intro is great :D haha
Wow. It looks very much like Sega took inspiration from the megadrive case from this.
Hey you might be right about it.
I beg of you great and wise Top Hat Gaming Man. Even if it doesn't make it into an episode, I think the story of an American Engineer named Jerry Lawson and the Fairchild Channel F is something you would very much appreciate! It is a story about the beginnings of the game industry, innovation, an obscure games console, and even race! Even most retro gamers have not heard this story, which is a huge shame considering how important it is IMO.
Nice video.
May I sugest you a review of the Tomy Pyuuta Jr. (also known as Tomy Tutor overseas)? It's a little unsuccessful yet charming game console with a bigger library than most of It's competitors (excluding the NES and the SG-1000 of course) at that time.
It's amazing how many consoles have tried and failed! What's even more amazing is how many of them are from established electronics companies! It just goes to show there is more to gaming than just computers and graphics!
The Fairchild Channel F was made by Fairchild Semiconductor, one of the founding members of Silicon Valley, and it got steamrolled in the marketplace by the Atari VCS. Fairchild's specialty being electronics for Defense and Aerospace may have had something to do with that.
@@fixman88 I guess they had recently watched War Games ;)
Well, I guess you could say it was a very miscalculated move by Casio to release this system.
I see what you did there ;)
A casio pun? COUNT me out please :(
@@michaelskoomamacher5652 It was a 'by the numbers' joke really.
Im keybored of these Casio jokes
I think I saw this console a while back, also Gilly was wondering what controller that was on his controller tier list.
I so want to hop over to the UK to meet both you and Larry Bundy Jr in person.
Hello You!
is that samy lee roth in the bsck round music?
The design really looks like a Casio calculator or some such device.
Speaking of the Fairchild Channel F , have you ever made a video of why it failed ? Because , YEAAAH ....
Have I mentioned to you that you sir are the bomb lol thanks for another great story
From John Candy's wrist, to a TV game console, all ways go with Casio.
That's crazy i never heard of that (forgive the pun) smoke ring. I heard that up until the 1990's something in the range of 70-80% of the adult population of Japan smoked. Great video, I look forward to your contribution to my general knowledge. I always enjoy learning something new
Don't you mean the Casio PV One Zero Hundred?
So Cool 👍😊
8bit beachboys music? Wouldn't mind seeing the track listing and info on that backround music....
Your obscure console collection is ridiculous!
The Interton VC-4000 would be an interesting topic. It's a very nice looking piece of hardware and many of the games I've seen look good. I'm probably one of the 10 people in the USA that has ever heard of it.
You really do find the most obscure system, damn.
It looks to me like Casio got the basics right but their hardware was a generation behind at the time of release and lacked in terms of software.
I too am a fellow linguist and one of the biggest reasons I watch your show over the others. Most of the other shows lack a certain stylistic branding that I associate with Mr. Top Hat Gaming Man. Furthermore, Top Hats linguistic skills are second to none.
I need that cigarette ring for....ummm....tobacco, yes tobacco that will do! Oh and you speak for yourself, those of us that still smoke...cigarettes need Casio to get back to making the join...cigarette ring. ;)
The Casio shares quite a few aesthetics with the Sega Genesis. It's very similiar especially the circular top and all black design.
Yo Bro, that background music sounds familiar.
For 1983 that thing looks fuckin bad ass
Ah, the famous arcade nudity issue we all remember @2:33
should Probably remove that Billy Mitchel photo from the intro, unless you like his hot sauce n which case I respect your decision to keep it up. He makes a damn good hot sauce.
6:23 onwards: why do I suddenly feel like listening to the Beach Boys? (California Girls, Help me Rhonda...)
Didn't know my old favorite digital watch company even made a console. It sort of looks like a cross between a Model 1 Mega Drive/Genesis with a hint of Atari aesthetics.
You got the Genesis's chronology timeline wrong.
@@rashidisw: What timeline😕? Talking about aesthetics.
You still got the narrative wrong, if you would said, "perhaps this where Model 1 Genesis shapes were inspired from?" that would be correct as Genesis existed several years after the Casio PV-1000 was released and not the other way around.
@@rashidisw:😕 So because I didn't said it inspired the Sega I got some timeline wrong simply because it came out several years beforehand?
I was just making a comparison of what it aesthetically looked like to me. Nothing more, nothing less. Just an observation, no speculation.
0:02 what console is this?
I smoke so that knuckle pipe actually looks kinda cool I want one
Came to learn about a console I’d never heard of before, got a documentary on Nintendo, Sega, cigarettes, and calculators that takes up half of the video instead. :/
Well you need to watch console reviews if that is what you are looking for, rather than history documentaries.
Who is that in the framed picture?
How many console do you own
Holy shit, I'd have never imagined Casio in the home gaming console! And what's that car at 1:57?
That is the American Corvette Stingray by Chevrolet, looks like a 82 model but it's very hard to be sure as they made these for quite a long time, pretty uncommon in Japan though, if you like the look of this model you should check out the mako shark concept car that preceded this design
@@maxwelsh6121 I believe your right about it being an 82. It could be a little older, but 82 was the last year they built those beautiful Stingrays with the flared front fenders. Most car enthusiasts would disagree, but I think the late 70 - early 80's Stingrays were the best looking Corvettes, yes, better than the originals from the 60's. But after 1982, Corvettes and doorstops became indistinguishable. No amount of money spent on a car could save you from the tacky hellscape that was mid 80's American automotive design. Even our sports and luxury cars were trash.
@@ressljs yes, and the earliest ones from the 70s of that model had thin chrome bumpers , and the latest ones had ever- larger air dams in the front, but contrary to you I like the 84 Style and the C4 Corvette is one of my favorites... I haven't taken the time to look it up but I believe there was no 83
1 minute of topic content and whatever i fast forwarded past.
bloody good looking console
casio ca-110 keyboard with same these soundfonts xD
Lol, nice 8-bit Beach Boys.
6:16 read the small print
Like the obscure consoles content. You gotta take down that framed photo of the biggest cheater in arcade history though.
Those are some tinny-sounding Beach Boys songs.
It looks like a smoothed out mega drive/genesis
I just realized my wristwatch is a Casio.
Thumbnail source, please? 😏
The pictures of anime girls is my main draw to these videos.
Top hat serves video game brain food!
The crash of 83 did not just hit Atari hard. It killed the Intellivision, Colecovision, Vectrex and Odyssey 2.
i love u big daddy top hat
I decided once I heard that that it is the only name I'll ever call him going forward
That is a sexy looking console though.
Ah, the Kashe Oh!
Love your vids but whats up with the sexy chick on the thumbnails? I like it an everything just wondering😜
Part of my retro aesthetic. It is same as Japanese console magazines in the 80s and 90s.
@@TopHatGamingManChannel Well that and attracting clicks, because hot chicks get clicks.
I see a frammed picture behind you. Thumbs up to cheating lol
It looks like a router from the mid to late 2000s...it's a little over two decades ahead of its time in terms of design. Doesn't look anything like its contemporaries.
Every time I see the thumbnail I think it's meant for some risky game for said system
6:17 ...“not recommended treatment“ 😂
Got a nice look too it. Anyone think it looks sort of like a Sega megadrive combined with the PlayStation 1?
And now i know!
Raiden photo bomb
Casio make Priva digital pianos
Ahead of its time on the outside, behind on the in
Where is that anime gril from?
Can someone tell me where the girl from the thumbnail is from?
yeeeaaahhh
Love how you said "The No 1 console connoisseur", so cocky.
Fits the character, I wonder what he's like in real life.
Commander 64 Kim Justice said he’s not a very nice guy but never explained why.
Hello ladies and gentlemen
xD i came late to the party to see your contend and i really like it... but what reeeally grinds me.... your ears ... either don't push your sexy hat that far down or... well ... cut them off maybe :-P you look like Gizmo when he was sad :D
You can pretty much sum up every console failure back then to one thing and it's that those companies didn't have a living god making games for them, lol. All hail Shigeru Miyamoto, lol. But in all seriousness the man invented Super Mario Brothers and almost 40 years later, few games are as good. If he'd been at Sega we'd be playing the sega master system 7 right now.
My only problem with you is the fact you don’t have different colored top hats to match your many suits
Sonic Boom! Sonic Boom! Sonic Boom.
Looks to me like the PV-1000 is a victim of trying to get a system out to market in a hurry and having to make lots of compromises in the hardware, resulting in a sub-par system. Nintendo on the other hand took their time developing the Famicom and their efforts paid off big time.
The chosen few who bought PV-1000 I'm sure they didn't fall for buy another Casio Game System.
#BigDaddyTopHat
just realized if you grab a ps1 game off his shelf its highly likely it would cause a jenga like effect of other cases falling down into the empty spot causing a chain reaction. Just for display only I guess...JK
the design linage looks like the Sega genesis took cutes from this design
Yeah...
6:18 "not recommended treatment" 😂
I just wanted to say I know what you spent your wrestling money on a bunch of glorious video games. Yeah
I think if they only intended to make a few dozen games, clearly numbering them was a genius idea. It's kind of free advertisement to bring focus to the fact there's other games to buy. Plus think about all the OCD people! "Games 8 and 13 never came out" well RIP OCD people.
"cult members" HAAHAHHAH
