PJ, I’ve been watch your videos since I’ve been 12. I’m now in my mid 20s, working towards an acting career. I’ve honestly thought about giving up because I feel I’m not great yet. But it’s a journey and you have to suck in order to be great. your videos give me inspiration. And I’ve seen your growth throughout your videos. Thank you for posting this at the right time! And also, The Lost Buoy made me cry 🥲🥲

“will I ever make anything again? Maybe not!” I feel this all the time. I started watching you in middle school, and now I’m graduating college and started a career in design as well with a fellowship. Fingers crossed, I can finish my portfolio and create something I like. I am also teaching myself blender now with baby steps, so this gives me hope that I can do it

the final result is of such high quality like the storyline is so concise and well executed, the colors/animation looks fantastic, the sound design and score was superb, just all around wonderful little heartwarming film.
it's lovely to see you being proud of this project because you should be
i can't imagine how much work it must've taken. i think for me i am most impressed by how well trimmed(?) it is ..?
as someone who's dabbled in art projects before, i find the most difficult part of making creative projects like this is being able to look at the work with a critical eye and staying objective when it comes to deciding what should stay and what should go. (ex: knowing a photo is not that great/sub par but not being able to delete because you keep thinking about how long you spent trying to get the shot)
there mustve been many ideas you had to scrap and it must of taken a firm resolve to cut them out without getting attached and frankly i'm super impressed. again just the final outcome feels so professional and i think your ability to stay critical of your own work might be one of the reasons why.
ah the double edged sword of having high standards. it's such a balancing act between "i can utilize my high standards to more effectively edit/hone my work" and "i'm losing motivation to create because nothing i make will ever meet my own standards"

glad you made this video. Learning about the artist's indent from the artist themself and realising that it's actually similar to what you interpreted it as, is somewhat comforting.
For me personally it was important to see the happy ending. Even after the buoy was forced out of his home by a force he couldn't control he didn't lose himself, stayed kind and helped those in need. And even when he was seemingly stuck in despair(seaweed), a kind stranger helped him and showed him that it's still possible to find a new place you can call home. Overall great message for those who are struggling and for those who have the means to help others. The buoy didn't ask for what happened to him but it was up to him how to react to it and to stay afloat :)

    Thank you PJ.
I am studying media engineering and I want to specialize in 3d computer animation. But truth is? The last couple years have been quite a rough place and I haven't achieved anything in a really long time. Such a long time that it feels like I'll never achieve anything ever again.
Being an extreme perfectionist which leads to overthinking everything instead of just doing it combined with the fine arts of self-sabotaging really isn't helping at all.
I haven't watched your short film just yet but I'll sure as hell will! So thank you. Thank you for not giving up and talking about it. It gives me a little hope too.

I've been watching your videos on UA-cam for nearly 10 years (😬) and they have always been a source of creative inspiration and motivation, but watching your old Blender Twitch livestreams recently has been enormously helpful for me. Popping one on in the background gives me a little company while I work on projects and watching your skills develop from the Krabby patty to the Lost Buoy is awe-inspiring. It's been serving as a reminder that I can grow and get better at things with time and patience. IM SO DUCKING PROUD OF YOU!! Caps aside, I'm so glad this medium allowed you to find inspiration and get creating again! I can only imagine the frustration of not being able to create as a creator. It's also no small feat to go from just starting to use a medium to producing a whole short film with it, so heck yeah you should be proud of yourself!
The past 2 years have been draining for lots of us, but I really do feel like The Lost Buoy captured that feeling of wandering and hopefully coming back to something, which I know I've experienced recently. Adulting is hard...but this lil decompression video (plus the short film itself) from a UA-cam OG I looked up to as a teenager(where tf did the time go?!) is making me feel a lil more inspired and energized about the future :)

I always admired how (unlike other youtubers who stick to a certain formula for success) you’re constantly creating the new things that you feel inspired to create. Every few months I find your channel again and can’t stop watching! You’ve been one of my favourite creators for such a long time, and I wanted to say that today because I just got a new bag to start a new school/college tomorrow and (while I changed all my other pins to really feel the ‘blank slate’ opportunity of starting somewhere unknown) I transferred the tiny planet explorer pin I bought a few years back to my new bag! You will always be an inspiration PJ, an inspiration for me to follow whatever projects most inspire me regardless of what I’m expected to create! Stay strong and keep creating the things that you feel satisfied with- because regardless of what you create we will all still support you! Thanks a lot for always sharing your creativity with us PJ! ☺️
