You can hate on the budget all you want. The real problem is these defense contractors are charging absurd prices.

      @Mindyourownright 9 місяців тому

Absolutely. They stall jobs and ruin materials by design. Those Virginia class submarines average at about 6 billion dollars and I guarantee they could be built for 2 billion. Those contractors rob us of billions every single year.

Yes you hit the nail on the head. Lockheed, Boeing, Northrop just to mention the top 3 IMO. They're definingly no patriot's and yes I get it, things cost money but these guys, these guys really do milk it for every last penny they can manage to take and Congress blindly gives them a blank check and this really has to stop. They need more competition but these big 3 are gonna make sure that doesn't happen anytime soon giving them the monopoly on everything military and so on. America needs change and the sooner the better and they could start by closing our borders!

Supply and demand right... Capitalism at its finest, but not really in this case a lot of these people (contractors) are former military personnel who just happen to still have contacts in the military. They literally will just jack up prices because they're friends and they know the government will blindly pay it... It's totally fd but thems the breaks I guess. That being said this is still the greatest country in the world and I wouldn't wanna be anywhere else

To be honest, no one outside of the true close circle knows how the budget really is spent. Since it is the government they can easily manipulate its spendings

Congress actually had an issue with DoD a few months ago because 30% of the budgets was actually unaccounted for. Our tax dollars is hard at work.

Better than manipulation, it can also get lost accidentally. Fair and square the government is, well, Big.
I know it's not a perfect world and the government is definitely not perfectly honest--- but even if they Were perfectly honest they'd Still be losing track of parts of their own system all the time.
Remember the end of Indiana Jones? Move the wrong filing cabinet, the wrong guy retires early or dies unexpectedly, and nobody ever finds it again because for security reasons some stuff isn't digitized on purpose.
And some stuff isn't updated because of neglect.
There's just a lot of different ways mountains of important data can go missing and corruption is only one of those ways.
It's a little surprising we can find anything to make anything work at all.

The problem I have with that repeated line is I find it highly unlikely that alien craft would be composed of materials, alloys and composites all found on Earth. Certainly, at least SOME would be completely foreign to our periodic table and can not be replicated or reverse engineered. It is human arrogance that assumes alien life and their home would be rleatable to ours.

The US Defense Department is mislabeled. It should be called the US Offense Department. This video is over 3 hours long, too long to waste on government waste. The numbers on the F-35 are mind boggling. For an airplane that has an availability time of 50%, no wonder we need more. I wonder if the 200 open issues on this plane will be resolved before we start committing them to the scrap heap. Good thing we got our allies to pay for a part of this economic debacle.
BTW, if we didn't continuously have wars, maybe we could actually balance our budget. The way things are going, our credit card is about to be maxed out and we end up like Argentina, only bigger. So time to buy appreciating assets like gold to stay afloat in our crazy world.

How many military surplus crafts will be made available to hospitals for emergency rescue operations in the event of hurricanes, earthquakes, avalanches, floods and volcanoes?
How much support has been required previously to service the Lesser and Greater Antilles areas in the Caribbean?
How much room is there on Fiji to build an emergency response airport to defend Micronesia from natural disasters with relief?
Will we be able as an ancillary effect upgrade the general emergency response capability of disaster relief in only our own oceans or it will it be easy to apply to Italy, Bangladesh and Indonesia as well?
Does the US have any bases in Papua New Guinea? What is the hardest to support ally or neutral farthest from a US military base? Can we build a base on Madagascar or at Cape Town?

    "...to confront regional aggressor countries..."
Says the US military, and repeats their citizen in this video, but without a single suggestion of awareness of how preposterous that sounds..
coming from people who directly and indirectly caused enormous deaths (to not licit numbers , it's distasteful) and accompanying sufferings, in the last couple of decades...
While the military of the one (of two highlighted) "regional aggressor" mentioned earlier, didn't fire a single shot at any country, during the same period!!!
The reason you're (the US gouv.) investing so much money, energy, effort, to derail economic development, by any way you can, of over 1.4 billion people, who just a little while ago succeeded in bringing themselves to the middle income countries (not like you, a high income country) is written in papers of various (the most important) think tanks, institutes, national policy makers, for years... It's just your (the US gouv.) scramble to stay the No1 world economy, by any means necessary (and I don't even understand why all this fuss is about, like you all gonna turn into dust, right in the moment your economy becomes second in the world?!).
Why would you think that four times more of (hard working) people shouldn't lead, eventually, to a greater economy!? Like the most normal thing is for some reason so unbearable to you (the US gouv.), what would you like them to do? Stop developing because you're (the US gouv.) insecure?!?
Which leads to the point where you (with ALL your (the US gouv.) baggage, and with current plottings/shenanigans) calling them "aggressor state", without an ounce of self awareness is absurd to the max, but you (the US gouv.) can't say the truth can you?!
and if the vast majority of your people really believe the "confronting the aggressor state" thing (out of the goodness of your heart, I guess), and looks like they are, besides all the contingency plans on the open for years, with all the strategies for coercion, putting pressure on country cohesion, pressure on Taiwan (with excessive armaments), bans and sanctions where you figured it's more detrimental to them, like chips, etc., etc., seen implemented now.., but if they're not discussed on MSM, it's like they don't exist!
Which is terrifying, and dangerous times are ahead, I'm sorry to say...

I think that it doesn't matter what infographics shows us or what we think; Washington DC insiders and power brokers will always have the final say on what our country's military will prioritize. That said... Learn from our past mistakes like Vietnam and Afghanistan. Vietnam was never a threat and currently the Taliban is letting ISIS use Afghanistan as a base of operations. So... don't deploy large amounts of conventional forces for wars they are not suited for. Understand US foreign policy will shift from Presidential Administrations every 4 to 8 years. Best solution is to stick to special forces and rely on our stealth capabilities to support them and US interests abroad.
Next focus on the true threat to US security, which is from within. Rome wasn't defeated by a foreign power, corruption and poor governance of its Empire led to its disintegration. The same thing can be said for the Soviet USSR. Financial ruin caused its collapse, which is something we here on the home front are struggling with. The other major threats are cyberwarfare and as always nuclear weapons. So if this was a Sid Meirs Civ game, I would look more into advancing tech capable of shooting down ICBM missiles that are becoming more and more commonplace in the world. China just proved it can take out a satellite in orbit with a ballistic missile; clearly advances are being made. And if we can end the threat of ICBMs then that will allow us more leeway in how we deal with threats like North Korea, Russia, and China.

No, they don't. None of America's taxpayer's dollars ever leave the country. The money is placed in an account in the USA banking system for which ever country it is for. The funds are taken out of that account to pay Americans to produce the products that particular country needs. No money is sent to any country only the products and services that the money can buy within the US economic system.
