This was a technique shown to me by fellow modeler Jason Quinn. Using a brown micron 05 pen, you can create fantastic micro dots on various rolling stock.
Howdy Dan! This is some good stuff right here. Proves that you can have effective and realistic weathering without a whole lot of angst. I know it is in my nature to overcomplicate things... lol... so this is awesome. Good reminder that sometimes simpler is better. Definitely adding this technique to my weathering tool box. Well done young man and thanks for sharing 🤠
This is why I love people like you in model railroading...sharing your knowledge to those of us always looking for new techniques to try. So adding this to my book of tricks. Thank you again for another great video.
Great Video! I am familiar with that pen because I am also an Artist. My best modeling days are bad weather days... love your UA-cam Channel... mine is just fledgling.
Dan, you could be getting kick-backs on the supplies you use & feature in your videos through affiliate links at Amazon or other marketplaces. Any thoughts on that?
If I were to try this, would I finish with a Matte varnish/ DullCote? Or would I just leave it alone afterwards? EDIT- Apologies. Another commenter asked my question and you answered. Disregard.
Incredible technique - super nice results. Question though - have you experienced any reactions to the Micro-pens and Dullcote? I have had reactions from Sharpies and Dullcote in the past. Beautiful work!!!👍
Superb technique! I've always wondered what would be the best way to get tiny rust dots on a surface. Thank you for sharing this.
Thanks for the tip! The weathering, especially on the hopper car, looked very natural.

Totally awesome Dan! I will definitely be using this technique going forward with my own weathering. Thank you far sharing this!
Brilliant
Nice technique. I use those tooth picks you find in restaurants. Just dip it in the rust colored paint. All ideas are good too.
great tip, thank you :)
THANKs ! 😎
nice technique
Real nice. I'm going to try this in N scale.
Another great video, can’t wait to give it a try. I wonder if this would also be useful in painting figures? Thanks Dan

Is the color sepia or brown?
Do you ever do models for People? I have some things I would love to get done. One if just painting. One is building a Model and painting. LMK. ✌🏻

What Ludwigs are those?

These pens don't bleed like the sharpie pens do. I would allow the ink to dry a day before sealing though.
@@DansRailroad2011 that sounds good, thanks for the advice.
Lol I used to call garbage juice "GJ" on one of my old jobsites 😂
