Hollywood is full of tragic scenarios on screen, but the ones in real life are legendary. Creegar worked his way up from nothing to become the rival as such stars as Vincent Price, and George Sanders. His working life comprised about five years, and was cut short by an early death after a hernia operation. He made a couple of great pictures such as Hanover Square, and The Lodger. But, he could have made many more, especially after losing a good bit of weight. His heaviest weight was over 300 lbs, but he got down to about 235. He was a handsome, big man who moved well, and could hold your attention. You’re just drawn to him in a scene. He had an extraordinary gift. The next time I’m out in Los Angeles, I intend to stop by his grave site and pay my respects
I have only seen a couple of his movies, but the scene with him carrying Linda Darnell’s body to the Guy Fawkes bonfire in Hangover Square is unforgettable.
@@NoirFan77 Yeah, I don't have cable, but recently discovered Muller when I heard him introduce at the Noir City Film Festival in Brentwood. Thank you providing all these phenomenal commentaries.
@@johngraves6878 My pleasure! I envy your being able to attend the Noir City Festival near you. Last time I did was a few years back in Chicago. But the parking has gotten so impossible that the year after when I bought a complete festival ticket I wasn't able to attend one show! But I did get to talk to Eddie the first time around and he's a charming and very approachable guy.

Laird Cregar was Magnificent
Played tortured genuis' to perfection. Bright this attribute to every role that called for it.
Sheesh. What a vein of gold this channel is.
Thanks! Glad you like it.

I worship Cregar's genius and love, and weep over, the nan
I remember him in “The Black Swan” with Tyrone Power and Maureen O’Hara.

@@TrudyPatootie Glad you liked it, but all I did was post it, not make it.
My mother knew him in the 40's. She said he was very nice.
He wanted to be what Tyrone Power was, while Tyrone Power wanted to be what Laird was, how ironic.
They were both Gay men but only Power could really enjoy his bisexuality especially with his Compadre Cesar Romero who eventually played The Joker😊
There is no proof re Tyrone Power.
@@ingridbergman2583 Not literally of course, just in terms of being taken seriously as an actor.
I never knew Laird planned on getting those cosmetic surgeries. That is quite sad.
Oh, to be so much but, never to believe it....
Whether tis better to suffer...?
