Thank you for your reply. Yes, it’s pretty important as if a karate-ka comes to Japan but is actually higher level and he walks into the dojo and says Gi” not only because he is a foreigner speaking but, the fact Japanese don’t say “Gi”😂
@@karma_decay I know it changes depending on the region and country. It’s amazing what the Gracie Family did to make Jujitsu even more prevalent in Martial arts and turn it into Brazilian ju-jitsu. When you watch UFC and it goes down to the ground and it stays on the ground the BJJ almost always wins!
@@dangilbert491 Dan , Yes you are right there as well the traditional name for as Keikogi or Dogi in its traditional form. Keikogi translates to practice clothes in martial arts👍
Nice Video Sir, I saw your channel, you are doing good work.👍

How does it make sense to put "Do" (path) in front of "Gi" (uniform)? - path uniform - ?
@@brianheidel4550 great question Brian…..first the path and then the uniform?? Let me research the etymology of that one👍
Pretty sure its to mean something like, "Clothes of the Way" as in those who practice the way of Fist and Foot (Karate) wear these clothes
