Great instructions. Thanks. Straight to the point. Obviously know what you are doing. Some of the other videos I’ve watched on this same subject are painful to go through. Big egos who think they are star’s. Love ya work 17:04
Awesome, I have to replace my CV seals, I gather the seal replacement portion will be pretty straight forward, it was getting the shaft out I was keen to see.
Yeah mate after the shaft is out just pull the seal, clean the diff up and put a new one in Also it’s a lot easier if you top up the diff oil before putting the whole hub and everything back on
Thanks, good video. My Hilux is making a clunking noise on the LHS but only when in 4WD and when you turn to the left.. Is it likely to be the CV Joint? Thanks
The outer doesn’t come off, you have to remover the inner joint and then do the outside boot backwards The outer boot was about $90 and the customer was on a budget so only did what needed doing On my own car yes I would have replaced both why the shaft was out
Thanks for the vid. Is there a chance of damaging the clip if you hammer it in? I can line up the spline, but, can't get further than the clip. Cheers.
If your talking about when putting the whole cv back into the diff?? Then yeah sometimes they are quite tight and a few good hits with a hammer will do it, won’t damage the clip but if you have one use a rubber mallet as you can damage the thread on the outer cv
@@foordoffroad8915 Thanks heaps. Yeah, the whole cv. Was thinking about using a sledge, with a piece of wood in between and having the nut flush to protect the thread. As long as there's no chance of damaging anything else in the cv.
@@scottt3491 shouldn’t need to hit it that hard, sometimes it’s easier to get someone else to hold the diff end so it’s at the right angle (if it’s slightly off doesn’t matter how hard you hit it won’t go it) and you hold pressure on and hit the other end
@@foordoffroad8915 Getting it straight on is probably where I'm going wrong. Thanks heaps, I'm going to have another crack after work. Much appreciated.
Your vid is fantastic, one thing though, when emphasising points for extra caution , pause what you're doing as the clanking from the job obscures important information, I lost a few things you said and it's too bad cos I was hanging on every word. otherwise easy to follow with no irrelevant shit, love it.
You should really rotate it 180 degrees so that your strap buckle is on the opposite side of the first; counter balancing each other. It's not a big deal, but it's good practice.
Able to do this without removing axle? If it’s only the boot holding the tripod in the cup. Although you did it so quick it’s probably easier having it out and in a vice
It is possibly yes but doing the clamp up afterwards is so hard to get it tight, worth the extra few minutes to pull it all the way out and change over in the vice
@@foordoffroad8915 Your not wrong. Just did it on vehicle and it’s tough getting all the grease in too. I had the genuine Toyota clamps so they were fairly easy.
Had the shop do my boots and had to go back twice because the clamp wasn’t done up tight enough, ended up using a zip tie and said zip tie outlasted the boot itself
You're straight to the point and showing every step unlike those that hide most steps. You're a life saver man🤝🏽💯
You speak my language, straight to to the point and no stupid stuff

Excellent video mate. Quick and to the point. Your so easy to understand how it all happens. Dreading changing mind but now I've
I've seen you do it going to be a breeze
Thanks mate 👍
I can see you are a very competent mechanic with excellent hand eye coordination skills, well done its nice to see
Thanks mate 👍
Love your work. Great practical demonstration and advice.
Good vid , I'm getting bent this weekend and doing this

Great video mate. Are you putting any grease or anti seize on any of the spines? Or just replace dry?
Good stuff mate, a few differences to changing a Ranger CV
Thanks heaps for the video buddy, helped me heaps to do mine. I too only had a 36mm socket hahaha
Thanks Bro.. I had same problem with my fortuner, hope axle boot same as you have demonstrated in this video, mine is fortuner 4x4...kindly advise.
Thanks, now I also know what is hidden behind that cover!

Yeah sounds like cv to me
@@foordoffroad8915 Thanks. That’s what I thought you might say. Should you do both at the same time or just do the shagged one?
Up to you, I would do both and then keep the other one as a spare
Cheers Bud just waiting on a new CV to arrive and i'll give it a crack...
Great video, cheers
This is helpful in my career
Legend! - Cheers for the Video.
where did you get the boot kit and grease from? finding the right grease for the inner CV is proving a bit difficult
Repco
Most cv boots will come with a new tube of grease and new clamps
My inner is leaking also any reason you did not do the outer boot at the same time? Does the outer cv also pop off the same way? Thanks for the vid.

Well done, good vid 🤙
Do you have to do a wheel alignment after changing the cv?
Yeah mate sure do
Would this till be the same for 2003 kzn165 hilux?? as i got auto electric hubs too.
There is a little bit more involved to pull the cv out in the Kzn models but the actual boot replacement is the same
Thanks... I'm off to do both fronts on my luxy.

Nice tutorial
what tool is that?
Good job. TQ

Can never go wrong with a zip tie haha
Last longer then the vehicle
Can someone please help me ! I done every step but now my hub and CV won’t spin..
Wish you did the inner seals so i could see were that right hand one sits lol
they will just sit flush with the surface of the diff, might end up doing a video on that someday
@@foordoffroad8915 thats were iv gone wrong i knocked it all way in. Cheers mate cheers
