If you listen to the lyrics, with the context of who she is, and the history of Sea of Thieves, it sounds like she sings about Old Mother, and the thought that her 'daughter' is the only Kraken left. After all, we never kill the Kraken, just get it to run away. Just injure it. Due to her love for the Krakens, it likely brings her great sorrow to have Old Mother chained forever, and another little interesting thing to think about, is if you get the Chest of Everlasting Sorrows from the Silver Blade, and take it into the room right before her boss fight, it will open the tomb of the Siren King, who was betrayed by the ancients, and possibly even the Pirate Lord. This is why she hates humanity so much, as they shunned the Sirens, and forced them into exile. This brings up the thought of, the Chests of Sorrows simply hold whatever remains of the Siren King's soul, as when you attempt to open the door to the Silver Blade, she cries out that there is still something she values greatly, but pauses, her voice almost cracking from clear pain and sadness. This leads me to believe the chest of Everlasting Sorrow contains the largest fragment, if not his entire soul, which may come into play later on in the story. We now have several factions coming into play here with a clear fascination with souls and power. The Order of Souls, Flameheart, the Reaper's Bones, and even the Ferryman. If it comes into lore that somehow the Chest of Everlasting sorrows went from hand to hand, before eventually being opened, we could perhaps find a whole new faction, and antagonist coming to Sea of Thieves. The Siren King, seeking revenge with his Queen for the crimes committed by the ancients.

I was so freakin terrified swimming down into the deep.
Halfway down my buddy says, “look up.”
I do, “I can’t see the sun!”

I cried. This whole chapter was fantastic , but this song while swimming down to the ocean floor was absolutely amazing.
Bruh that tall tale was so damn annoying to play though. Yeah I agree the setting was really cool, but with the amount of glitches and how unnecessarily long and tedious some of the fights are it just makes me not want to play it again.

no i think not, its the story of the siren king being bound by the ancients in chains when he approached them and then being tortured or killed off. The queen mourns her king's demise, i mean the kraken is related to the sirens, like the current kraken being called 'my daughter' by the siren queen, therefore i see no reason due to which the siren queen would help in the binding of the old mother.

I remember the first time I did the tall tail and as the black pearl was revealed the song reached the "bound in chains forever" part and it gave me chills
I remember swimming down and hearing 1:53, and it was perfectly timed with the whole place lighting up and you see the ship and all the coral and caves around it. It was absolutely beautiful.

the sirens are merfolk... they hate humans... the silver blade stole their king so then they turned into sirens. They sunk the silver blade then but never found their king... until they found out he is in the chest of sunken sorrow ... We pirates did this to them.

In the lore this song is what makes sailors become a siren longing for the deep and worship of the kraken
I remember my friend and i finally was able to get back on the game a week after this came up and we were swimming down. And we were astonished.
Swimming down with glowinf bio-luminescent life and swimming past sunken planks deeper and deeper until we finally realized. Wait- were not drowing. This took a bit for us to figure out how to breathe underwater.
I was going down to the deep with my friend, as this started playing, him and I stopped what we were doing and we listened. In the distance cannons were firing, they were muffled which boosted the feeling of the scene. The Song of the Deep.
hearing this music for the first time gave me absolute chills.

It's quite sad what happened to The Silver Blade. I really love the cosmetic set of The Silver Blade. It's a shame it has been turned into.. well whatever you call it today.
At least we got to avenge the blade and her crew ! I swear i unleashee hell with the ships cannons, and since then i always keep the silver blade sword.
Then again her captain did grab one chest, scuttle in the shroud, end up stranded on an unknown island, drank from a cursed chalice, and become a skeleton lord all in one day

Once you get to the third tall tale of the thing, there is a nice reference to the community in the tavern. How it says we can be pirates and good people, the devs out that in there for a reason, and it is nice. The community on release day stopped all killing, reapers didn't kill, everyone just had a good time, it was great
chief i wish this was true but it blatantly just isn’t. a lot of people took the opportunity to sink those who left their boats above the second tall tale, and those who would go down just to fight others - i don’t really mind it because it’s a game with pvp so not expecting it is dumb imo . . but to say no one killed, is a lie.
@@sevvyomfg5115 I was doing the 4th tall tale solo and a crew came to the ship where we play the organ puzzle and started spawn camping me for no reason.

This song gave me chills when I swam down. Tall Tale 2 would have been terrible had it not been for this song.

I remember thinking that I was gonna drown half way through because it was so deep then I was like "fuck it if I die I die. then this tall tale is bs" but then I finally realized the white effect was it restoring my air... and then I saw the black pearl and I was like "oh.. shi... what did they do you jacks ship!?"
To my knowledge, this tells the story of the krakens.
"In the depths, she is sleeping,
And the darkness creeping.

This is the Old Mother's full story summarized. She's sleeping, then the darkness (sirens, as they're "dark" merfolk) "creep" to her and gain her trust by telling it the story of their sorrow. The Pirate Lord then bounds it it chains.

Who shall begin the healing?
Wounded for forever."
Not sure about the first two lines, but the last two are likely about the Pirate Lord putting a keg in a different Kraken's eye (the one we fight in free roam) and it being unable to heal.

Dreaming in forever."
This is about the Sirens (lost and forsaken by the merfolk) raising the Old Mother's child(ren?) after she died.

This is about the Siren Queen, singing a song of sorrow for the Siren King, who's soul was sealed away forever.
In the context of this TT it also fits to how the Black Pearl is chained at the bottom of the ocean
I feel like this song can be overshadowed by the full body of the Kraken and the Silver Blade
Everything except the ending of this is overshadowed by the silver blade and krakens full body. And also except the third tale

Getting swarmed by these mf-s when I spend more than 3 seconds in ANY water(music usually starts even in a gold hoarder vault when its filling): Priceless.....
I acculy found this part kinda scary, i hate when the ocean is just black, im so scared an animal will just start swinnign at me, ince i tried to swim to a mermaid and then a shark just jump out of the water and jumpscared me.
I had no idea that the barnacles gave oxygen to breathe. I would just swim down and die thinking its a bug.

What if sirens were never evil?
what if they sing to communicate and just wanted to show sailors their world but didn't know they couldn't breathe underwater cause they look so similar to their kind.
but due to the missing sailors, and the few who came back scared of an unknown creature luring sailors to their death, they started being hunted?
That is similar to the lore what happened is the siren king went up to make peace with the ancients but the tribe killed him and bound his soul to his remains and chained them up so it made the queen vengeful and angry so she killed sailors and in the demarco mystery ending the pirate lord says "i cane here once before to make peace with the sirens" but they were already to hurt and angry for peace

Bound in chains is how old mother died.
The ancients lured her into a trap because old mother wouldnt stop eating the “good” merfolk,after they chained her with the same metal the chests are made of,unbreakable and unrustable.
