Soweto is not a ghetto and as someone who grew up there I feel very strong abiut that label. It wasn't by choice that we found ourselves living in Soweto but we have made the best of it and we are very proud. Compare Sunnyside and Hillbrow with Mamelodi and Soweto, I'd rather be in those latter two

Ubuntu means "i am because we are". If you are not okay we are all not okay. The greeting part is a recognition of the other human being, thats why in zulu when you greet someone you say "saubona" it means i see you, but in a much deeper sense
That's not what Ubuntu is. No elderly Bantu person will define Ubuntu like that. It's much deeper than that and even has a spiritual element to it. Hence the Spirit of Ubuntu
Ubuntu is vast. It also means treating people humanly in a civilised manner, with respect, love and compassion like you would like to be treated. It is mainly premised on CIVILISED conduct. That's just the tip of what the practice of ubuntu means.

Glad I ran into your channel. I've been to Africa several times, just recently 3 months ago. I'm quite a frequent traveler to the African continent particular Sourh Africa. My first time visiting Africa was 10 years, Cape Town. It was a big experience for me. I respect everything you guys and mostly on point. There is a big difference between blacks in the US and blacks in Africa, and there are similarities. Each time I come to Africa. I see more and more black Americans.

People on the continent were never one single unit, even before the colonisers came. We lived in clans, villages and nations, and respected the boundaries, even though we had no passports. Strangers were people who did not belong to our clans, villages and nations, and when they came they had to introduce themselves, and be introduced to the local leader and even to the king. To this day, if you want to move to a new village in the rural areas you don’t just show up. Someone who is a community member must introduce you to the local leader, and you’re allocated land to build your house etc. People from other African countries know this, but they want the rules to be different in South Africa, and only in South Africa, but not in their own countries, as if we are not Africans just like them.

Is this Zimbabwean legal in RSA? As most of Zimbabwean come to RSA illegally and then claim asylum in South Africa. There is no war in Zimbabwe and most of Zim people tarnished RSA image when abroad or with other foreigners. AA chose your associates wisely.
We can say the same about the white south Africans that were awarded asylum. Why were they awarded asylum in the likes of Australia when there's no war in South Africa? Why were they running away from the black south Africans there?

Mamelodi and Soweto are not Ghetto OT the hood. They used to be low income neighbourhoods during Apartheid era. These area are more like suburban now. This is the reason why there is negative sentiment towards foreigners in RSA. Let South Africans tell their stories and their culture. It would be good if this Zimbabwean can tell AA about his culture and his people. There is no such thing as African culture. Each country has its own distinct culture and languages. Ubuntu is not humility. Ubuntu is I am because you are and this meaning is far deeper than the literal definition.
Even more than I am because you are, ubuntu also is a whole way of life and culture, how we behave, how we treat each other and look out for each human and help everyone to prosper and do no harm to others but aim to prosper them physically, materially, emotionally and spiritually.
