YES! Your Grandma does look FABULOUS! And we all owe her a debt for her generous nature. She has yielded an exclusive African-American recipe and cooking method that ALL AMERICANS can enjoy TODAY. Even in "these challenging times" she has chosen to GIFT us with her wisdom. And I, as an American, really do appreciate her wonderful spirit. Thanks for sharing your Grandma and her culinary skills.....it was a PLEASURE...
My mom used to cut the corn off one cob at least three times when she made fried corn! Then mix a little flour, sugar and other seasonings! She fastback or bacon grease in hers!
This is exactly how my momma used to cook! I am glad I seen your channel, this is the real deal fried corn recipe. My mom recently passed away and she was the best cook I know! I appreciate the way she cooked for us all those years a little more now and am glad I watched her and helped in the kitchen growing up because this is the way I cook for my kids. Thank you for sharing and God bless!
Same here my grandma made this recipe for my whole life and she recently passed away and I realized that no one I knew knew how to make it like her .. and this is close. It has to be fresh corn , butter , flour , salt and pepper some times she would add cooking oil or bacon grease ( I know I know ) anyways thank you
I can’t remember if I commented before. I come back every time I make fried corn. I love this recipe. My 3rd time making. I know my dad would’ve been so proud of me. My corn is always delicious
Miss Mattie, this is how my Grandmother always made hers I learned to cook the way you cook the old fashion way. I also agree that you season your food the way you like it to taste and if it doesn't taste good to you, then you know it's not gonna taste good to anybody else. Some people ask for the recipes for the foods I cook. I don't really think of it as a recipe for as long as you cook it's just in you and it comes naturally. But I have learned to experiment, appreciate and Respect the Great cooks that just get in the kitchen and make it do what it does. I'm your age and have been cooking since the age of nine. Making gravy from scratch and whole cakes on top of the stove and homemade syrup from scorched sugar and water...and maybe some fried fat back or salt pork....Lol, the good ole days. I use the bacon and the grease from the bacon sometimes. My Grandma always used to say, good cooks don't measure they just know and cooking is a feeling...It's in your hands and in your Heart. Fried corn was just one of my favorites I would cry whenever she made it because thought she was gonna give it all away and I wouldn't be able to have seconds. LOl. Good Cooking and God Bless.
If you ever have good fried corn you'll always remember it and no matter where I go to dinner they always want me to bring my signature fried corn and I do I'm living out here in Houston Texas I'm originally from Georgia did the Deep South and yeah they know how to do fried corn Texans I don't really know how to cook and imma be honest with you but we have such a variety of people that lives here everybody out here wants to consider themselves a chef well that now everybody can't be a damn sure it in your car yourself LOL I am a cook and I've been cooking since I'm 11 so I think that qualifies I'm 75 so I am a decent cook
@@4SureFamily Well I always have someone to remind me of her. My daughter was born the same exact day my grandma passed. Thank You ma'am. God Bless you as well. 🙏
Lol "You don't need to measure" when you said that I could see my momma she said exactly the same thing and her fried corn was my favorite vegetable. Thanks for the instructions I'm going to give it a try!
That's looks soooo good and I'm glad you didn't use bacon as we can't have it. My mom always made this comfort food this way and I can't wait to run to buy fresh corn now... Thank You!!!
Still to this day, haven't seen a video similar to how my grandmother cooked hers. Hers was thicker, kernels was cut more fine. Consistency was more like mashed potatoes. It has a peppery taste.
So glad I found this video! My mom cooks this all the time with bacon, biscuits, and cane syrup! (SN: Of course she uses bacon drippings to fry it.) I ate a lot of it but didn't remember how to cook it. My mom is in Georgia and I'm in Texas. I needed an illustration. Making this tonight!!! Thank you so much! God bless you!🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
