- The new Cybex Cloud T & Cybex Sirona T replace the Z range and bring new improvements. We love these car seats from Cybex and definitely recommend them!

Thought I would post a comment on backwards compatibility with base Z as various forums and comment boards are full of conflicting information on this. I have the Base Z and Cloud Z so I wanted to upgrade to the Sirona as my son is a bit big for the Cloud now. Cybex eventually confirmed that it would fit but some of the functionality may be lost (a bit vague if you ask me). I was quite annoyed as the whole point in this system is you don’t have to buy multiple bases and my Z stuff was bought brand new just over a year ago so it’s not like it’s ancient, but they have gone through two iterations since and I couldn’t find a Sirona Z available anywhere.
Anyway I took the plunge and just got a Sirona T anyway and can confirm it does fit and work. The buttons on the base Z to rotate it aren’t accessible with the Sirona on the base as it covers them up, instead you use the recline handle. In the fully upright position you pull the recline handle again and you can spin the seat. Once locked in the front or back facing positions you can then recline it using the same handle. The only loss of functionality I can see is that you can’t spin the seat while it is reclined (which you can with the T base) it has to be fully upright. It appears to recline to the same positions as on the T base, it possibly doesn’t go as far back but I don’t know, only going off what videos of the T base look like in comparison but don’t think there would be much in it if anything.
Hope this helps someone as trying to find out was doing my head in!
Thank you for taking the time to explain this thoroughly! I couldn't find this info so detailed anywhere else.
Thank you for this comment because i was annoyed about the same thing as i bought the base z and cloud z 15 months ago and wanted to upgrade to the next seat and can’t find it anywhere and was annoyed into thinking I would have to by a new base as well I’m going to by it and try what you said as I need it to be able to rotate as my baby doesn’t like going in the car seat at the best of times
thanks a lot for the info!
Was this the original base Z or base Z2 - have the base Z2 and wondering if any different as the rotation buttons were slightly different on it? Thanks
@@harjitmehat5784 I have the Z rather than the Z2. I believe from my research previously that there are no compatibility issues between the Z2 and the T equipment I.e. a T seat should work on a Z2 base and a Z2 seat should work on a T base.
ETA: A quick Google just now and an article says that there is minimal difference between the base Z2 and the T and the difference is limited to the isofix connection handle, the part that you interfaces with the seat and controls the spin and recline is identical apparently.
Can the long part of the base be folded to store?
Can you tell me what colour is this setup? Thank you!
Do hou need to adjust the straps when reclining the seat in the car. I find that the straps arent as tight once the seat is reclined
Any difference with the cloud z2 except the weight??
Without baby in very easy to adjust as soon as I put baby (8 weeks) into car seat I struggle to tighten
Is the cloud T car seat compatible with the YOYO 2 stroller/adapters?
Dies it fit the base z?
Yes, see my other comment.
