      @@SuperSneakySteve That's better than the $1200 they want for the K6s. It is at least in the ballpark with the S&W Model 642, and less than the Ruger offerings.
      That's where they need to be.

    Nice lineup of revolvers,,,,, I have a Colt six shot aluminum frame that is a pretty light revolver. I did carry it for many years, but in inside the waistband. Thanks for sharing those kimber’s.

      The Cobra almost fits the bill but it's too heavy. S&W is unlikely to develop a new mid sized revolver frame. They probably sell way more plastic pistols than revolvers these days. I have high hopes for a slightly larger LCR from Ruger.

    I carry a 2.5” S&W 686+ in my front pants pocket. It’s way more comfortable than hanging it on my belt, and fits in my Haggar Classic Fit slacks fine. I do have a 642, but rarely carry it. My speedloaders and speed strips may or may not contain .357 magnums, and I don’t want to grab a round that won’t fit. The XS does look like a very nice 6 shot revolver. 👍👍👍

    Great comparison!
    How do the heights of the models compare, now that you have the boot grips installed? Everywhere I look all I can find for the height of the K6SX is the height with the original grip installed.
    I plan on installing a boot grip on the K6SX if I get it, but if it’s drastically taller than the 642 then I’ll be going with the 642.

    • @SuperSneakySteve
      @SuperSneakySteve  Рік тому +1

      The boot grips are exactly the size of the frame. So if you want to know how big they are, just take off your stock grips and look at the grip frame. Glad this helped. The Kimber rides in my pocket every day. Forget the Smith, get the Kimber!

    New sub,. I just picked up my K6xs the other day, can't wait to get it to the range!!! Looking forward to pocket carrying it, I have a Taurus 605 & Ruger SP101 and have pocket carried them. Heavy but doable with a good belt and cargo pants/shorts but at 9 - 10 ounces lighter than those 2, the K6xs will be a great pocket carry gun and the 1 extra round is great!!!

    How many rounds did you have through the 642 before it broke and the barrel was shot out?

    • @SuperSneakySteve
      @SuperSneakySteve  6 місяців тому

      It was many thousands. I would buy bricks of primers and boxes of bullets and that was my only center fire handgun for a long time. It's still working even with very weak rifling and I did put in a new hammer and sear. My estimate would be around 6k-8k rounds.

    Hear some people talking about it not taking .357’s. It does take +P and frankly with the +P Defensive Carry ammo available and the bear that a small frame .357 is to handle. ( Don’t give me a hard time, I shoot 45-70, 58 black powder, and my EDC’s are all 40S&W) I’m fine with carrying a 15 oz revolver vs 1 1/2 pound revolver. Probably going to mostly be a back up gun and a lite weight carry when appropriate.

    • @SuperSneakySteve
      @SuperSneakySteve  Рік тому

      It will chamber and shoot .357 Magnum just fine, but I prefer my hot loaded 38's. If I want to actually shoot .357 Magnum then I switch to my 3" SP101. It's a lot heavier but still pretty small.

      If you are going to carry in the belt. Go with the K6S. The weight won't be a problem and you can step up in power. If you want to pocket carry, go with the K6XS. 38+P is good enough and the lighter weight makes it a joy to pocket.

    Question I’m kinda new to pistols and CCW, I have small hands and when I shot the air weight smith at range it wasn’t pleasant, with the extra 1 oz would you say the recoil is the same or better? I would practice with regular 38 but carry a + P

    • @SuperSneakySteve
      @SuperSneakySteve  Рік тому

      There's a night and day difference between the recoil in an Air Weight and a steel frame. Grips matter too, notice I have rubber grips on all. Wood looks good but rubber feels better under recoil. Steel guns are a pleasure to shoot.

    • @SuperSneakySteve
      @SuperSneakySteve  Рік тому

      If the 642 wasn't pleasant then the K6xs won't be much better. You'll want the all steel K6S for a difference you can feel. It still fits in the pocket but a bit too heavy for me to pocket carry. It makes a great inside the waste ban gun. Carry is all about compromise and you'll have to decide what factors are important to you and what you can let slide.@@victorinclan3359

    WARNING! Many years ago, I purchased a Kimber K6s and it was one of those that ended up with a broken firing-pin. I returned it to Kimber and they replaced the pin. Recently I bought a Kimber K6xs and loved it until after 120 rounds of +p (and only dry-firing it using snap-caps) you guessed it, the firing-pin broke.
    Now, I was worried about using my original K6s with that pin Kimber replaced. I found a website (TK Custom) that makes upgraded replacement firing-pins for the Kimber K6s and purchased a replacement pin and had it installed by a gunsmith. I now have that gun working fine and stopped worrying on the reliability factor.
    Because of the broken pin in the K6xs, I will be returning to purchase another pin (I will not be returning the gun to Kimber) for the K6xs. I am not the only person with a broken firing-pin on my new K6xs, there is another firing-pin break with a K6xs talked about at Buds Guns in the “community” section. I feel safer buying a new well-made pin and paying a gunsmith to put it in.
