    Sera is alive, after Damon kicked the shit out Chloe in the head she went to sleep. While she was sleep frank killed Damon and freed sera. I guess sera just waited on Chloe to wake up to talk to her

    It's more than just killing her; it's about ruining her life, getting her back on heroin or whatever.
    She stayed sober for a year, and James was okay with destroying the life she's been trying to salvage. Kicking this kind of addiction is close to impossible
    Poor Sera, I hope that she didn't go back to that shit

  • @YourTaciturnFriend
    @YourTaciturnFriend 7 років тому +218

    I'm pretty sure it wasn't attempted murder - and Sera wasn't a ghost at the end. You were over-thinking the "dosage enough to make her OD" thing. I'm pretty sure the plan was to get her re-addicted to Heroin, because she needed to be sober 1+ year to be legally entitled to contact Rachel.

      Im not sure why they seem to think James is trying to have her killed. The text flat out state James saying to not hurt Sera. wtf?

    • @vindifference
      @vindifference 7 років тому +35

      Well, you can tell that Mari wanted as many reasons to hate James as she could, cause boy, he was the target for all the bad-talking today, until Eliot showed up. Even after the game dismissed the whole kiss thing as an issue. Not even Damon got roasted as much.

    • @Memily23
      @Memily23 7 років тому +16

      It's not really smart of James pay that amount of money and get involved with that kind of people just to give her ex wife a little bit of heroine and expect that somehow that will bring her back to drugs. Even if he just wanted to make her fail a drug test, there's a lot of flaws in his plan. Because don't you think that Rachel's mom will talk about what happened to her? And i know that people will say "but she's an addict, no one will believe her" but the thing is, she actually has proof. She was kidnapped, tied to a chair, she might have marks all over her body. She could talk with her lawyer and make a scandal, and that's what James it's afraid the most: the scandal. The idea of everyone talking about him, about his 'perfect' family. That's what he's trying to avoid at all costs. So that's why leaving Rachel's mom alive is not convenient to him. He has to kill her.
      Also, the amount of heroin in that syringe was a lot. Damon was obviously trying to kill her.

      Getting off of heroin is exceptionally difficult, and addicts are especially vulnerable to fatal ODs during a relapse (as M & S said). Getting a heroin junkie to relapse (while orchestrating a major trauma such as having them kidnapped and tortured) is not that far off from having them murdered directly.

    God, what an awkward way to end the series. For either choice you make at the end, you would still feel bad, but then we all of a sudden get an uplifting montage of Chloe and Rachel, and then the post-credits scene makes us feel bad again. It's so jarring.

      Exactly.

    • @nicolesmith9102
      @nicolesmith9102 7 років тому +12

      Well she didn't really have much of a choice. Chloe was actually going to die if Max didn't do that. And I mean Max loved Chloe and that's kinda the whole fucking point of love. You choose who you love over anyone else, their life is more important to you than everyone else's. So what Max did makes sense.
      There's not much evidence that Rachel was actually going to get addicted to drugs, have a mental break down, or die just from allowing Sera into her life. Sera had been sending letters and refusing to take money so she was serious about wanting meet Rachel and really cared about her. She talked about how much she hated the decisions she made, so why on earth would she allow her daughter to make the same mistakes she did?
      ... Basically James kidnapped, drugged, and tried to prevent a daughter from meeting her birth mother based off of nothing but fear. That's not the same as allowing people to die to save the one you love.

    • @fireflu557
      @fireflu557 7 років тому +1

      Idk I think the choice where you lie to Rachel is really about whether or not you're willing to lie for the happiness/safety/etc of the ones you love. There's literally this dialogue between chloe and her father about a parent lying to a child. It's about whether you're willing to become a kind of monster (?) and hold this terrible terrible secret if you think it'll be beneficial. And yeah it's a fucked up thing to keep that from rachel but now her home life is ruined I think regarding both parents. By the end it's less about rachel's safety and more about her relationship with her parents. You get to choose how it turns out and whether you make that "lying parent decision" or give rachel the truth and shatter that sense of safety.

      My Max didn't because I am not a selfish psychopath

    • @Zoidberryable
      @Zoidberryable 6 років тому +4

      @GhostPlay Do you know what irony is? No, it is not the 'right' option. Both choices are valid for a reason or else there's not much point in it being a Choice based game. It's all about personal beliefs and which characters resonated with you in the end. Not a morality tale where you pat yourself on the back for making the 'right' choice.
      Jefferson is a murderer who killed people because he could and little else. His actions were done with no remorse, out of malicious intent, and nothing more. Max didn't kill anyone. She just didn't want Chloe to die and the only way to do that was not going back. The comparison is completely on its ass and just a way for sanctimonious assholes to guilt trip people for not pressing the magical reset button (and be holier than thou about how Noble they are for letting Chloe die so Max can dodge all the consequences of her actions).
      It's incredibly naive and childish to call someone a psychopath because they happen to value their loved one over people they barely know by comparison. It's so easy to front that you wouldn't do the same. And yeah selfish but people are selfish in general.

  • @mochiisyum123
    @mochiisyum123 7 років тому +64

    I hate that this did nothing to answer our questions like how Rachel and Chloe get mixed up with drugs concerning Frank, the motives behind Rachel giving her bracelet to him/hooking up with him and the allure behind Jefferson. Nathan stated in LIS that Rachel was only with Frank for the drugs (maybe money as well). And like James said about Sera, she always wanted to escape. Still holding onto hope Rachel used Frank for money and got into drugs whilst doing so. The Jefferson appeal still confuses me though.

    • @sockfish123
      @sockfish123 7 років тому +4

      How did they get mixed up with Frank? Because drugs feel good obviously. We got the answers for why Rachel hooks up with Jefferson and Frank in the first game. She wanted to use them to further her modeling career. She used Frank for his RV and Jefferson for his camera.

    • @mochiisyum123
      @mochiisyum123 7 років тому +7

      But Chloe never touched that hard shit, and I'm pretty sure she would have known if Rachel was doing that long-term with Frank, especially since Nathan literally said she was using him. I know she was definitely using Frank and Jefferson to pursue the Arcadia Bay escape/help her modeling career but there had to have been more if she gave up her bracelet and gave him those letters. But this prequel unfortunately did not answer even a modicum of answers relating to Frank and how she felt for him. It sounds like she'd get high with him while Chloe was out busting her ass to repair the truck, which still doesn't make sense when Rachel comes from a well-off family.

    • @sockfish123
      @sockfish123 7 років тому +5

      Who said anyone as doing "the hard shit"? Chloe is a massive pothead and I'm sure Rachel is too. Didn't we just have an entire episode on how Rachel's perfect life is only a lie for the outside world? She comes from a pretty broken place tbh. I didnt come to this game with expectations to learn every little detail we didn't learn in the first game. It's about how rachel and Chloe fall in love and I'm fine with that.

    • @mochiisyum123
      @mochiisyum123 7 років тому +7

      I'm going to assume there was something else besides pot involved when it came to Rachel is what I meant, with Frank selling whatever it was in the first game(Nathan getting it from him) and Rachel partying with the Vortex Club. I understand why she'd develop a habit but I would imagine Chloe would have an issue with Rachel doing anything other than weed at that point/notice it. I'm also not wanting every minuscule detail however that is a huge role in their relationship through the years and this prequel started off showcasing their bond/love while this episode did nothing to perpetuate that notion it was anything more than platonic or flirtatious. That was my core issue with this episode. It was a side appearance to the main act of Damon and Sera stuff. Eliot was filler and so on..

    He didn't try to kill Rachel's mom. She filed a custody plea and he hired Damon to drug her so he could say she relapsed and the plea fails.
    That's why Damon says no one believes a junkie, cause she would say it was against her will and no one would believe her.
    He still got what he wanted she "relapse", there's drugs in her system. She backed off, he kept custody.

      Geek Remix I don't think this is what James had in mind though. He sent them in as a scare tactic at first and when she didn't back down it is mentioned they would have to be more "hands on" to which James says not to hurt her. Damen probably saw this as an opportunity to get his name cleared by threatening her. To him James was the one following the orders to destroy evidence and what not. Idk maybe it's just confused writing?

  • @vindifference

    Huh...a bit of a Last of Us angle we have here...I like it. But Chloe's attempts at being a hero...pfft. As if Frank was the hero who came in and defeated the final boss off camera while Chloe was knocked out.
    Anyway I'm so glad Stacy's here for a second opinion. This situation is most certainly not "good". And assuming James is gonna kill other people randomly is a *big* assumption. I'm not even convinced that he actually meant for Damon to execute Sera, and that it was just Damon's craziness that led to that situation. After all, he did text Damon and said to not hurt her. If anything, he'd only hire people to rough up other people if they would potentially destroy his daughter, and only after a year of telling them to back off, maybe. So where the term "serial killer" came from is a big mystery to me. I wouldn't even class Damon as one of those...yet. Personally I would have liked to see what James would have eventually done about Damon after he found out he stabbed his daughter.
    Well at least now Chloe and Rachel can live happily as girlfriends forever! Except when Rachel goes to Frank. Considering that this playthrough has deemed the two an official couple, I'm pretty sure that makes Rachel a cheating scumbag in the headcanon....but let's not talk about that.

    Idk about the killing for inconveniencing him cuz I'm any other game to save your loved ones or children or protect them you'd kill in order to do so cuz they mean that much more than your morals. That being said I dont agree That he tried to get the mom OD'd to keep her away no mattrr how destructive she use to be. He could've always requested that if they do meet that he is always present for said meetings to be sure shes safe and then after a while leave them be alone Cuz trust was built. I think if you didn't tell her about what the dad did there should've been an option to say that you at least want to show her the letters she missed from her mother so she knoes she cared about her. It would still make sure she gets some of the truth that James did keep Sera away from her daughter and to know the mom did care enough while rehabilitating to send her daughter letters. This makes me wonder tho how she got with Frank still? How did she meet the douche Jefferson? Where was she staying after this incident(my guess is the junkyard in that little room which is why its all decked out and stuff later) Hm lastly tho I do get why telling her the truth is good but I also see how giving a white lie about parts of it would be ok deepening on her mental state after but I think it'll be alright.

    So if it's a possibility that DeckNine are going to consider another prequel story, how would you guys like the idea revolving around Nathan? We spend very little time with him in both LiS games and I think his character has a lot of depth. I think it would be interesting to see how he views the world of Arcadia Bay and its people. What do you guys want to see or don't want to see if a prequel about him will ever be developed? Discuss!

    How come they didn't show post credits? Which was a really unnecessary scene by the way and kinda fucked up that decknine did that.
    I believe the goal was not to kill Sera but to get her addicted again so she was no longer fit to meet Rachel. Still a godawful thing to do.
    If you gave Sera Rachel's bracelet she comes back to see her in that lighthouse scene. Fuck that tho, I'm not gonna rob them of a much deserved kiss. I also hear you can get it otherwise, but I think you gotta play your cards JUST right.

    21:45 You saying "good" here really shows a narrow-minded approach to this problem. Sure you told the truth(although considering James gets away with it Im not sure the truth served any justice that it is supposed to) but you also destroyed Rachel's world for the rest of her remaining three years. I value truth I really, really do, but I don't know if I value it so much that Im willing to completely tear apart someone else's life. Especially when said truth serves no justice related purpose. Usually truth can repair bridges it destroys with the justice that it brings, but in this instance you just obliterated a bridge with no tangible means to repair it.

  • @dylansim9365

    Like Sera said, it was about what would happen to Rachel's life after the fact. Yes, James was a bad person for trying to get rid of Sera (I don't think it's for sure he was for murder), but I think jumping so fast to the decision to do what was "right" without caring about the consequences was selfish. Rachel is condemned to lose a parent (regardless of who he was as a person) and all the consequences that come with that, just so your conscience is clear.
    I'm not saying I wouldn't have made the same decision, but I would've given it more thought beyond "James is an asshole, he should get what he deserves", because again, it's about Rachel, not me or James. Stacy makes a good point though, that should Rachel find out in the future, it would hurt... but even then it's hard to say what would be the consequences of that. She may hate her father then and lose trust in me/Chloe? It may be worth the stability she would have had in her life in the meantime.

    • @djjones2602

      Yet another reason not to lie to Rachel, is that Chloe has learned Rachel's father may be dangerous. As the DA he has a lot of power, and he was willing to use that power hire a man he knew to be violent (Damon) to forcibly drug Sera and get her addicted again. I hope we can all agree how reckless that is, how much harm could come from that? If James is capable of that behavior, that level of exerting control and not caring who's harmed, what might he someday do to Rachel? And/or Chloe?
      To me, telling Rachel the truth means giving her a chance to defend herself against a dangerous man.

    I don’t think James had any direct intention to kill Sera, but I do think he wanted to get her back on heroin, which is indirectly killing her. Forcing someone to give into any addiction is bad enough, but heroin is life threatening. He’s willing to put Sera’s life in danger, so regardless of his reasons or justifications, he’s dangerous. Plus Rachel has a right to know what her Dad is really like.

    Mari, chill. You're letting your own paranoia of men get in the way of the plot. Rachel's dad was just trying to protect her, he specifically says he doesn't want Sera to be hurt; if there's anyone to be mad at, it's Damon. I mean, it's okay to be mad at her father for interfering with Rachel and Sera's relationship but the way you're just spouting off is really aggravating.

      I don't think he really cared that much for what was going to happen to Sera. Even if she didn't die and he wasn't trying to have her killed it's still heroin. It definitely could have killed her. She could have easily overdosed. Maybe she didn't but he still had a psycho trigger happy drug dealer that he fully knew was super dangerous kidnap sera and inject her with heroin and cause her to relapse and ruin her life and all her progress just to keep her away from Rachel when she seemed to be doing very well. "Don't hurt her." Sure dude. You mean like, don't give her any broken bones on top of her heroin relapse? How considerate. Surely he doesn't trust Damon that much knowing how dangerous he is. I don't think he was trying to have her killed but unless he's an idiot he must've known that was a possibility. Regardless, still a super nasty unforgivable and crazy thing to do and I gotta agree with Mari on this one regardless of if his intentions were to kill her then or not. Dude belongs in jail period.

    Sera is alive. If she was dead, Chloe would not have kept quiet about it, the DA would have been arrested, and none of the ending family scenes would have occurred or be even possible futures. Either choice, telling Rachel or not, does not stop her from pursuing her path of choices that leads to the final act of LiS; only some creative future DLC can provide such.

    If you didn't tell Rachel the truth, I'm guessing, maybe sometime (2011-2013) after the events of Before the Storm, Rachel finds out the truth in a dark way (probably his dad died and before dying, he told him the truth. Because nobody else was looking for Rachel, nor it didn't look like she had a family in the LIS Original game. It was only Chloe who looked like was actually looking for her). Then she started to grow away from Chloe, ended up with Frank. Knowing that Chloe lied to her big time, Rachel did not say anything to Chloe about her and Frank, and possibly why Chloe had no clue.

    I’m not completely sure if Rachel’s dad knew that Damon was going to OD her? Yeah, he wanted Sera gone and out of Arcadia/Rachel’s life, but I don’t actually think he considered the possibility of Damon harming her. Like he said in his texts “Don’t hurt her.”
    It’s just the fact that you KNOW James was keeping Sera away from Rachel for at least a year, and he prevented them from ever reestablishing a connection.
    So I guess the whole moral point of LiS: BtS is... Are you going to let Rachel Amber go through even more pain in the last three years of her life, or will you let her go peacefully?...

    • @chloe-stephlis6281
      @chloe-stephlis6281 3 роки тому

      I hate James Amber so much. Think about it. He was going to let Damon go free for everything and paid him to kill Sera. I saw the texts but I personally just don’t buy that he didn’t want Sear hurt. He wanted her re addicted all over again. That is hurting her. The woman cleaned up her act and just wanted to make amends but he wanted to be a jerk and not forgive her. Let’s not forget how awful he treats Chloe and Joyce in Episode 2. When Joyce tried to talk to him and Rose he blew her off. Plus, when Rachel brings Chloe home you can tell he’s not happy to see her. If you win the back talk challenge at dinner he shows his true colors. Even Rose calls him out and he acts like a 5 year old. He says that having compassion for others is a bad thing. Chloe is broken but how about offering to help her instead of profiling her? And he says that he and office care about helping others. I gladly tell Rachel everything at the end. No more lies, that’s what caused all this. His own lies are what got his daughter stabbed and he was still going to let Damon go free after that. Plus, if he cares so much about his daughter where was he in LiS 1. Chloe was the only one actively searching. After what he did in this game he has no more right to have Rachel or Rose’s love. I do hope Rachel forgave Rose though. She is a sweet heart and was nothing but a loving and caring mother to Rachel. Just like Joyce, both sweet women who fell for the wrong man. For the record, I’m not attacking you. I’m attacking James. Sorry about rant. I was in a bad mood when I wrote this. Although James’s character just pisses me off so much.

  • @sebbysev

    I was in the same boat as you guys when I reached the end. I thought that Rachel deserved to know the truth because I thought her father tried to kill Sera. But looking back, I think it wasn't that severe. He did tell Damon not to hurt her in his texts that you see before Chloe takes over on the phone. So, I think his intentions were to just get her addicted again so she'd stay away, not kill her.
    But either way, still a shitty thing to do. If I had known that, I probably still would have chosen to tell Rachel the truth. If he was so concerned for her safety, he could have just asked Chloe to be there when Rachel meets Sera. Or even be there himself. But idk

    Sera isn’t dead, James didn’t want Damon to go as far as he did, and telling Rachel the truth doesn’t really matter because she ends up dead in the end anyway. Telling her the truth only served to sever the relationship between her well intentioned but morally corrupt father, which probably contributed to her downward spiral into drugs and sleeping with older men.

    I feel like there's a whole other story in between this one and the first game. Like Mr Jefferson and Rachel getting involved with him and her relationship with Frank that Chloe didn't know about but there's picture proof of it.

    You’ve probably heard by now but there’s a sort of “secret ending” at the end where if you ask her Rachel’s bracelet in ep2 instead of a kiss or tattoo, you can give that bracelet to Sera, and that makes sera come back and meet Rachel in a different version of the lighthouse scene. That also tells us that Sera is very much alive

    So how does it happen to Rachel? How she got so close with Frank after all this thing with Chloe?

    Hey, so theory about William popping up while she is awake. She just had a near-death experience, almost dying the same way he did, getting hit by a truck. She was close to the spirit world then. That really was William, not the Raven.

    Finally managed to watch the whole LP and it was great! Couple things I wanted to throw out there:
    I thought the Sera conversation was a dream too and we were talking to a ghost, like with William and the Raven and Chloe somehow had this ability, but if you go back through and pick a few different convo options it does seem a little clearer that Sera didn't die from an overdose and Chloe was unconscious for enough time for Sera to be lucid and Damon to be dead.
    I don't think James new Damon was going to try and kill Sera, but even if he didn't he Should have known not to deal with Damon being in his position as DA. From the context clues we get it seems James hired Damon to scare Sera away and Damon got Frank to do it but that didn't work so Damon decided to escalate things, likely always planning to make things worse for James.
    The brushfire seems to be a supernatural one? Not sure on that one, but it doesn't seem normal. The firefighters sitting down at the hospital mention as much. Might be nothing but might be something there.
    I'm guessing at what that gasp at the end was for, hope you guys are ok.
