unfortunately there's no "cookie cutter" pattern to follow really, the best I can say is what I said in the video, pick a weapon, find a build path for it, then see what items you can fit in the path. If you go into the 2nd tab for items, you can sort by damage/skill amp/etc, to help decide on items. I'm going to make a more advanced build guide as well that will go into more depth, and cover why you would build xyz item in the future.
