Mom Says She Wasn’t Alerted of AirTag Tracking Her for 14 Hours

- Women across America are sounding the alarm over an Apple tracking device being placed in their cars or belongings without their knowledge. Women on social media say they found AirTags secretly planted on their car, hidden behind license plates, inside bumpers and even attached to the undercarriage. A Texas mom says she found an AirTag taped inside her duffel bag. She says it tracked her every move, from Texas to Maine, before she got the Apple notification she was being tracked.
Forcing people to register these with a verified account before use will cause less of this. Should be easy to see who the air tag belongs / is registered to and charge them accordingly.
yes sirr
I found one, took the battery off, then sold it on ebay
You really think they can stop all the copy cat trackers. People used to buy cheap watches and necklaces they sell for lost or tracking children. So real criminals will just use after market. They probably just steal these anyways. Or easily buy from a secret shopper that's underage, fake I'd etc.
I can create an email account while using VPN and use an address that isnt mine. Is it really safe?
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
Or buy hundred before they make the update.
Maybe people buying AirTags should be required to register it with their details so the authorities would know who is using those tracking devices inappropriately.

How is that not illegal in Georgia and other states. A car is personal property and I'm sure there's some kind of law that would prosecute a person who would attempt to track you by putting a foreign device on your personal property in order to stalk them. Definitely illegal.

@@chronological3957 goofy it isn’t the president even when trump was it still wasn’t illegal
Apple should have a beeping feature that the beeps go faster or louder the closer you get to the airtag
The issue here isn't the distance to the device but the actual location of the airtag which geolocation can't help you with.
They do, if you receive the notification it gives you the option to sound the device and detect it the same as if it was your own. Should be no reason this lady had to go to an auto shop. If she got the notification she can have it play a sound and track it’s location down to the meter.
Apple airtags weren't made in mind to stalk someone but instead locate stolen property etc
They do have a feature where it’s like hot and cold, it’ll take you to the airtag if it’s close.
They have a feature that tells you how far and a arrow in what direction it’s located towards. The arrow is only supported with iPhone 11 and above because of the U1 chip
This is a perfect example of how just because you can sell something, it doesn't mean you should.

Tracking devices used to be available at very low prices at places like Radio Shack. The ex huzz has seriously creepy control issues. After the divorce, I found that he had installed a spyware program on my computer. 2 years after that, I found a tracking device on the undercarriage of my car. I had wondered how he just coincidentally showed up when I went somewhere. A buddy of mine volunteered to put it on his car to see if the ex huzz showed up whenever he went somewhere. Sure enough. the ex would show up half the time, wandering around as if he were looking for something or someone. It took him 6 months & a confrontation with my buddy to finally stop stalking me.

Forcing someone to 'register' an air tag will not solve this issue. Stalkers could easily use any other tracking device. We need to strengthen laws around this so that criminals can be punished severely when caught.

The good news is the Airtag can be tracked back to the original owner. I think Apple support can help with that.
@@jjayguy23 only if it's reported lost I think. And I doubt a stalker will do that.
@@skycloud4802 No, Apple can use the Serial Number to track it back to owner, no matter what! I'm sure of it!!!!!!!!
The reason it’s not illegal is because the state wants to track this data without a warrant. The state justifies surveillance by saying where you go in public is public knowledge.
Yep stupid government and ppl apple I hate they should have never made it in the first place
We need to be able to identify precise locations of unknown AirTags like the hot and cold app for AirPods and not only that they should have to be connected somehow to the person who owns it you should have to put in a email or phone number to activate it and authenticate the email or phone number , and when it says “unknown air tag” It should say the email or number of whoever activated the tag
I’m glad Apple has a safety system in place to notify potential victims
Congrats on 10 mil subs! I remember when you were at just a few thousand. Crazy how fast you guys exploded!! Well done, y’all deserve it.
This is extra scary because when I travelled to NY I was receiving these alerts the entire time. It stopped after about 7 days. All along I thought it was a glitch
This video isn't about you adn how you feel, this isn't your channel get over yourself no one came here to find out what happened to Luisa
I would be willing to bet that the majority of Airtags aren't doing what apple intended them to.
“Don’t go home”…if it takes 14 hours to notify me, how am I supposed to know not to go home….
They should be able to sue apple for endangering these people lives.
If I was Apple, I would drag out the lawsuit until the victim can’t afford to pay the lawyers anymore
@@Brandon_388 that's nice 👍
Exactly maybe it's time for a class action lawsuit.
They can’t control people and it’s not exactly new technology
you do realize that apple is not the only one who sell trackers right, samsung and tile sells them too but they dont even bother adding any safety features. at least apple added a rougue tracker notification and is more responsible.
Why can't they tell who bought the airtag? Don't they have some kind of unique identification?
It does you have to go to Apple website someone explain it already kidnapper sex trafficker won't use this. Worst case scenario if you get kidnapped the FBI will have a trail to fellow.
Apple needs to be sued. Why sell a product that can violate someone's privacy and not have them register it? That's like legal gun stores selling guns under the table.
😂 the way this video starts. Why does the reporter look mad and like she doesn't believe "this lady"
In my opinion,
This is an utter stupid mistake on apples behalf to release such a product with a huge security oversight.
And I think apple should get sued over this.
Honestly someone will have to die from this so the family can then sue apple for millions.
Wow, how tf is this legal. God knows what the intent was.
That is illegal that's invasion of privacy and that's a form of stalking stalking. Not only that you're touching other people's property by putting things on their car that's actually that could that could be a lawsuit. They could be a form of destruction of property then putting something on it without anyone's permission
To everyone in the comments saying that airtags need to be registered probably don't know airtags or probably at most apple products. When you pull the plastic tab on an airtag to put it into pairing mode. Once you sync it to your account. It's linked to that person's Apple ID. Apple ID has some much information about a person, but due to the fact that Apple will take any government agency to court to secure privacy. You'll never see that person probably. To the ones who do find an airtag I can give you some advice on what to do.
1. The white side of the tag is an NFC tag. Tapping it with you phone should prompt a website that takes you to apple which contains the information about the tag. serial number and last 4 digits of phone number.
2. Twisting the sliver/chrome plate with the logo on it will open the battery up and you can take out the battery.
Thank you Apple for adding a feature to protect people that’s what everyone should be saying
ye
This is so scary but it sounds like someone's sick joke of stalking these women for fun or whatever the disturbing reason!
This is NOT FUNNY!
Don't worry it's only a problem towards beautiful girls.
Yeah like what’s the outcome of these? Not everyone has an iPhone to alert then
@@tiasky3438 it said in the video there is an android app
@@tiasky3438 I don't have an iPhone so I am worried that I could be stalked with one of these things without knowing it
@@Brandon_388 yeah that needs to be downloaded so you would need to know about this in general. But I believe an Iphone will just automatically alert (someone please correct me if I’ve misunderstood)
Apple should make some kinda way you can back trace those to the owner. Or when you register the device it takes your Info and that info could be pulled off the tag by law enforcement or special apple software.
All already done, each one is linked to an Apple ID
That's exactly how it works
So I've never used apple 😅 but is it easy to make a fake Apple ID?
1:19 lol... what's the point of blurring out the plates if they're going to show it anyways 😂
Stalking should be taken more seriously. Police should do what it takes to stop it. Would save more lives if it was taken more seriously.
AirTags should have an ID associated with it including a name and phone number before being activated.. why is it anonymous.. thats just lazy coding
You don't really think anybody would give their right name and correct phone number do you?
@@Livetoeat171 thats true, you could use a fake name and burner number.
It should be both ways. If Apple can track, they should know who registered the chip and reveal the info to the police in cases like this. Being stalked is against the law in all places? I surely think so.
“the chip“ lmao
And this is why I carry a loaded firearm.
i knew this was gonna happen when apple released a teaser of this device lol
I'm so glad I have a cheap Android phone. That's crazy that this isn't being taken more seriously, especially with human trafficking and kidnappings.
However, you need to be careful since the airtag notification may not show up if you have an Android device
Not having an Apple phone stops nothing, that only means Apple will not notify you. The person stalking you puts the airtag on your car bike or purse, and then pings the tag to find out where the tag is, accurate to 100 centimetres. You never know its even there, or that they now know where you live, work, eat lunch, go to the gym or library, which bus you take, etc. Or perhaps where your child is after they tagged one against them at the mall or sportsfield.
You never get told there is a tag, and the stalker can disable it before it starts beeping.
It's not apples fault. It's the person who is using it with bad intention. A tracker is going to track that's it's job.
True you can tape a GPS tracker to someone’s car as well
right, the malicious intent falls on the individual
_Yawn_ (Android users)
God bless the poor victims of stalking
I agree with you comment
