You might want to reconsider that steam mop on your wood floors. I have heard that they are not good for them.
Thank you Deborah! My steam mop is one of the few that is approved for hardwood or engineered hardwood floors. It has a low setting which is gentle and safe. 💗🌸💕

Hi Robin - oh boy! I was so excited to see this video pop up. When I didn’t see you this morning I thought maybe y’all had gone on a trip in your airstream. This was a very nice surprise. You are making a great success of your house. It is light and airy just as you were wanting. I absolutely love that dining room table and chairs and bench. What a great selection! I know what you mean about going into Hobby lobby but you made some good selections on what you got. That’s exciting that your parents are coming to visit and I almost forget when I see the pool outside that you even have one. Do y’all take advantage of it? That skunk story sounded so bad. What a lovely, thoughtful idea!
Just a thought on bathroom cleaning. When I cleaned professionally (motels) they taught us to clean a bathroom in this order: basin, shower/bath, toilet, floor.
The reason is to that you are moving from the least contaminated area (basin) to the worst (toilet). Otherwise you can potentially carry faecal bacteria to the basin.
I use a separate cloth to clean the toilet area

I know that is very good advice, however, I try to insure that there is no cross contamination by using disposable disinfecting wipes for the toilet and because I wash my hands after cleaning the toilet I like to clean the sink last. I agree though, cleaning from dirtiest to cleanest is a good practice. 👍💗🌸💕
I am a quiet viewer of your videos. It’s the one thing I look forward to on Sunday evenings after my kids go to bed. As a full time working momma, homemaking can be a challenge to enjoy and you leave me feeling motivated and grateful that I have a house with a husband and kids to serve. Mrs.Robin beautiful home you doing such a wonderful job to decorating I’m learning a lot from You . I don’t know if that’s something you might want to try it works for us and our dogs and skunks we purchased sand with coyote urine and we sprinkled around the fence no more issues with skunks I know there is also a spray on Amazon I’m sure that will work as well .

Poor Austin..those skunks are stinkers!! I remember my friends would use tomato juice as well..i have cats so not sure. Glad all the smell is gone. Love all the decorations...your new home already looks beautiful!!

Your house is looking and coming together so beautifully. Love the new dining table set! Oh Austin. Our Tommy, got a double bath yesterday too. We don't encounter skunks, but because of surgery and slow healing incisions, he was 4 weeks past due on his spa day! If we were neighbors, he and Austin would be the goodest of good boys and the bestest of besties chasing squirrels together. Happy Sunday and wishing you a lovely visit with your folks!

Robin your home is lovely. You have inspired me to start giving my home a bit more attention. We have been in it 5 years and I really have no decorating sense.
We loved our trip to Switzerland in early June. Our home base was Luzern. We visited Lauterbrunnen, Zermatt/Matterhorn, Bern and Zurich. My husband works for Emmi. Your husband’s home country is absolutely beautiful.

Robyn, You are really making a house a home. It really looks beautiful! Regarding your 4 legged family member, I don’t know who to feel more sorry for, you or him! Having to hose and clean him down that hour of the night had to be horrible. The smell is so awful when your dog get sprayed by a skunk like that.

That skunk smell is the absolute worst -right?! 🤢 It took about 5 times around his face where he got a direct hit and he still doesn’t smell quite right, but it is a big improvement. 😂🤣

I had a cleaning business for over 20 years and the vinegar/dish liquid formula is the best! Just have to make sure you rinse it well.

Hi Robin😊…I absolutely love that dining set and all the greenery & basket weave accessories you’ve brought in, they scream light & airy. Throw blankets, rugs and big pillows or easy ways to also create coziness . I know from previous videos you’re not a fan of decorating and spending a-lot of money on decorating, but it would be so nice if you & your husband took a break and allowed a interior decorator to design one space in your home, maybe the living room or guest room😊. Oh, I felt so badly for Austin! He looked like he was miserable. So glad that the remedy that you found worked so well. I have the same steam mop and I absolutely love it. I feel like it gives the floors such a deep clean. I'm always amazed at the dirt on the microfiber pad. @@FaithandFlour bummer! I'll look around. I didn't realize they made darkening Roman shades. I refuse to hang curtains. My cats get them filthy and I hate taking them down every month to wash them. Plus we have pretty trim that I hate to hide. This would be a good compromise and prettier than the faux wood blinds we currently have

I have one with a longer handle, too, and use it to get under my sofa to dust the wood floor and any where else it’s hard for the vacuum to reach. 😊

A couple of weeks ago the same thing happened with us! We have 3 little dogs and it was 10:30 at night and they came inside covered in fresh skunk spray! We used the same formula and it worked like a charm! We finished up with rubbing them down lightly with plain old Downey fabric softener and rinsing it off very well and

I like the rugs in your living room. After I vacuum my rugs, I have discovered that I can smooth out the fringe by getting a broom and sweeping it in an outward direction.

I always enjoy your videos, and this one is fantastic! I live in an old home (built in 1896!) and our walls are solid wood! I have to have my husband’s help with all wall hangings as I don’t have the strength to hammer in the nails or screw in the screws in that old pine wood 😄!
I get so much motivation from you, whether it’s cleaning or cooking. I am familiar with the Georgetown and Austin areas. Your two homes are beautiful, and different. Y’all are doing a fantastic job with your remodel and truly making it your own. Now relax and enjoy every minute of your parents’ visit. Hi there! I stumbled upon your channel yesterday & absolutely love it! 😀 You have a beautiful home & family & you’re beautiful too 🥰 I’m a stay at home mama of 3 & wife from Ohio 😊 We also have a dog & he too got sprayed last summer by a skunk at 11:00 p.m. 😩 lol. I called the emergency vet to see what to wash him with & they said to use Dawn dish soap & if we had baking soda but if not the Dawn should do the job & it did! 😀👌I suds him up & gave him a good scrub & rinsed & he was good! Thankfully lol. And when he got sprayed initially he had some foam type drool coming out of the side of his mouth & the vet reassured me that was ok & natural (not rabies, which I was worried about even though he’s vaccinated) because he probably got some of the spray in his mouth a little & once I wiped it off with a paper towel it went away. He got sprayed from his head towards the middle of his body bless his heart. I’m glad Austin is better too! 🥰🐶 Lastly, you’ve done amazing with your home! I would have never guessed it was originally dark at all! I love the bright walls & all of the natural light & decor! 😀🥰👌I’d love to hear how you & Patrick met sometime in one of your videos! 😀🥰
Thanks for another lovely video. I used to have a number of Persian carpets, and I used a wide-toothed comb to straighten out the fringes at either end after I vacuumed them. 🙂

Oh my gosh, the old extension cord trick! Why didn’t I think of that🤣. The only complaint I’ve had with my Shark steam mop is the short cord, and you’re right about breaking rhythm to move the cord to a new outlet. Thank you Robin!!

Great video once again, Robin. On my 21,(I’ll be 60 in September) birthday, I was going to pick up my son from the sitters and they lived near woods well, I encountered a skunk that sprayed me, what worked for me at that time was taking a bath in about 2 inches of tomato juice……..I will never forget my birthday that year!

I love it, but the one downfall is it has only 20 minutes of battery. I tend to get distracted and have to charge at least once when vacuuming.

Thank you Donnie! Our new kitchen furniture came from Pottery Barn. I don't like using rug pads, because they can discolor the wood, so I try to anchor the rugs when possible with furniture to keep them from slipping. I also am careful not to use a cleaner on the floor that could be slippery - I stick to just water and a microfiber pad or my stream mop on the low setting which is safe for wood. I agree with how you clean the bathroom from dirtiest to cleanest. That makes sense to me, even though most people do the opposite.i think I will try that duster too.

Happy Monday, Robin! I'm pleased as punch that your dining room furniture arrived; it's absolutely beautiful 😍. I so ENJOY pedestal bases on dining room tables as the pedestal base eliminates those pesky legs that interrupt chair placement and can be bothersome to guest moving freely. I laughed out loud 🤣 when I saw how Austin so gracefully accepted his shower; he knows he smells and was most likely THANKING THE HEAVENS ABOVE for those scrubbing showers 🙏🏽. I also learned from this upload that your husband is Swiss, so I can totally understand the importance of incorporating elements of his culture and your engagement into your home decor. I love Switzerland and the beautiful style that is employed to decorate many of their homes and flats. When I toured Switzerland, I fell in love with how many families use window boxes filled to the brim with gorgeous flowers. My husband is Moroccan; and while we met in America, I was keen to incorporate many Arabic and Moroccan decor into my decorating style. We too have a few Moroccan and Turkish carpets. They're beautifully designed and I love their durability. Many of our carpets are double sided, so flipping them over every other year or so helps us reduce wear and preserve the life of our carpets. We received one bespoke carpet as wedding present when we married in Morocco. It is about 5' x 7' and is embellished with so much beading and charms that I couldn't in good conscience use it as an area rug 😕. Over the years, I used it as a textiled wall hanging; but am currently using it as a tablecloth for the dining table inside our Master Bedroom. Watching you vacuum your carpets triggered my OCD because the fringe on these carpets is my nemesis 🤣😂🤣. I'd constantly go around the house ensuring that the fringe was meticulous and all flattened out and going in one direction. I'll never forget my husband telling his family how I would argue with him for "kicking up the fringe" 🤣😂🤣. I love how you repurpose the refillable kitchen brush originally designed for washing dishes. There's no reason why it couldn't be used in other areas of the home. It definitely cuts down on the need for unnecessary spray bottles and multiple cleaning tools. Thanks again for this upload and I bid you a GREAT WEEK AHEAD!
