Thank you for watching and I hope that you find these tips helpful. Several of you disagree with my suggestion to bring your own candy to the movies. I did not intend to encourage you to do this if your theater has a "no outside food" policy. I don't always get it right here on UA-cam! Please grant me grace on this one! 💛Robin
I never used to bring my own candy to movie theaters, but with a cost of $5-$7 for a bag of M&M’s, we will get ours for $1.25 at Dollar Tree. I would never sneak in, for example, pop or popcorn, both of which we buy large-sized. Between those and the ticket price, I don’t think the theaters are losing much-even with a no outside food policy. I paid $17.00 for Downton Abbey, plus large popcorn and soda. Sorry for the spiel, Robin, you are granted grace!
Great video. We, as a family, do these already. My husband's work is so unpredictable, so it can be tight, but other than that, I don't have a desire for most of the things you've mentioned. I do my own hair at home, cut it etc., and my husbands. This year has been tough financially, and for the first year, we didn't purchase flowers for the garden, which I do in the spring. It's one of my favourite things. We just prayed about it and I promise you, God blessed us with flowers we have never seen in our garden before. It looks majestic!!! 🌺🌼
The way I wash dishes, put the plug in. Rinse into the soap sink, but turn the water off between items. If doing a lot, when the soap sink is getting full, put the plug in the other sink for rinsing, or use a wash tub.
One thing I can say from watching your channel for several years is that you lead by example. You have an incredible gift for showing us, not just how to be frugal, but frugal AND classy. I love that combination. It's very inspiring!♥️🇨🇦
.y mom taught me to be aware when shopping. Look at different sizes of products and figure the cost per ounce. Tally up your bill ahead of time. When checking out, watch if it is the same or real close. Also, using the customer check out lane. I noticed prices and gas cred
What helps me is paying everything in cash in stead of with a debit or credit card, because then i can litterally see how much i spent, and how much of my budget is left.
Thanks Robin for sharing the art of frugality in style. Frugality doesn’t have to be boring and penny pinching. It challenges us to think creatively how to stream our resources wisely. I was a mindless spender most of my life because I thought I was entitled to shop and splurge. As I age, my mindset has changed and I don’t rely on material things to fulfill my happiness. I’m contented with what I have and I enjoy the liberation of not wanting. I wish frugality is taught in schools where students can learn at young age and they can reap the harvest later in life.
Really enjoyed today’s video, but then you have yet to post one I didn’t! My husband and I are retired, well, semi-retired, Social Security and teacher retirement just doesn’t cut it 😠. So at 70 I am working from home (I love what I do now!), and my 80 year old husband still goes in to work at the same place he retired from 1-4 days a week! Fortunately his health is good and he enjoys going in to “be with the guys!” We bought our current home nearly 26 years ago and have been renovating it ever since! It is an 1896 Victorian that I have named Emma, and affectionately refer to as The Money Pit! Remember that movie?😂 A money pit it is! I am so grateful that my hubby is an all around handy man, otherwise we couldn’t have bought my dream home. We live in a rural Texas town (pop 1500), an hour away from any of the bigger cities. Our biggest expense is electricity. We were advised, because of the age of the house and it being all wood construction, to go all electric and not have gas as it presented ventilation problems. Electric heat is expensive! As the upstairs isn’t used anymore, except when we have company, we keep the vents closed and doors shut! No need to heat and cool unused spaces 😁. Our home is completely paid for. We were going to sell it four years ago and move to the city where our youngest daughter had just built a house. But after finding out what the property taxes would be there, we decided to stay put! There may come a time when it will be necessary to relocate, but for now it is cheaper for us to stay put. I, too, have a small wardrobe, do laundry on Tuesdays and Fridays, run the dishwasher only when full, and hand wash as you do. I am the daughter and granddaughter of Depression Era parents and grandparents, and have learned lots of thrift saving things from them. I do not, however, wash my aluminum foil after every use and reuse, not yet anyway 🤣. As always, thanks for such a wonderful video ♥️
Thank you Debbie! You are a wonderful example of how being frugal can be fun. It is obvious that you have much joy and a bright outlook. God bless! 😊🌸💕
Great video and tips. Thank you for sharing. Can you kindly show your skincare routine and how you maintain good skin, prevent bags and dark circles etc xx
Thanks! I'd love to see a video on fun ways to travel economically. I do many of these already, but there are always ways to improve. Thanks for considering.
Excellent and extremely relevant video Robin. I used to spend mindlessly. Frugality was never in the forefront of my lifestyle. It’s a difficult lesson to learn but after a bit of suffering I changed my mindset and realized frugality can truly be a great lifestyle change. I didn’t realize all the free things that were available. Life is what you make it. Thanks for sharing. Melissa 🌼
Wonderful and timely video full of some great advice. So often we spend our money pursuing things we think will make us happy and in the end all we end up is unhappy and in debt. I am starting a frugal lifestyle and find that saving is making me so much happier than spending mindlessly ever did. Thanks again and have a blessed week!
Could you plz do a video on how you rotate your streaming services? Do you have cable, too? Do you have Roku? How exactly do you handle the changes, etc? I have DirecTV now, and have already cut back a lot, but never thought about doing this. How much lead time does it take to change out each one? How often do you cycle back to each channel? Love your ideas!
Hi Ann! Just find out the cancellation policy of each service. It’s usually listed on their website. Before your subscription renews is the time to cancel. 😊🌸💕
Thanks for the great video! My Grandmother’s used wells for water so when we washed dishes we filled a large metal bowl with clean water for rinsing. When they finished, they poured the rinse water on their bushes at the back door. I love the rotating streaming services. Have a great week!
Curious if you still drive the older 4 Runner that you mentioned in one of your previous videos.....we too drive older cars but I am really wanting to get something newer; however, the frugal side of me says to wait since car prices have gone crazy lately.
Loved today’s video!!! My house is only 2000 square feet (but 4 bedrooms - 2.5 baths and two living areas). I’d love to downsize to less rooms and about a 1000 square feet. Just waiting on a green light from God. I love and appreciate my current home but I’d like a little less. 😊😊
Thank you Kris! We are very happy with our decision to downsize- there are just so many benefits. In God’s timing, I hope that you’ll have the opportunity you are hoping for. 😊🌸💕
Thank you for the video. I don’t mean to be “that” person but can we put a caveat on the movie theatre suggestion? We own a single screen theatre in our small town and we try to keep our prices reasonable. You are correct that concessions are where the profit is. I ask that people don’t sneak food into a small family owned theatre. We are a rapidly dying breed. Thank you
Thank you. I’ll be honest, if we go on a “busman’s holiday” ( in proper disguise of course) at a large chain theatre, we look at the concessions, gasp in shock and pass by with the (possibly smug)knowledge that we are not gouging our customers. 😉
While we don't have a formal budget, we track what we spend. We don't skimp on groceries even though we do use coupons and enjoy when we find a sale. We ate breakfast out A LOT before pandemic but found during our time staying home that we enjoy our breakfasts at home so now we don't eat that out anymore. But we haven't given up our delivery pizza! We do not spend needlessly. We are also debt free. The thing I think about when planning our spending is that we are telling our money what we want to use it for rather than other people saying how we should spend it. Great video.
A very good video love your clear explanation. So peaceful to watch and listen to you. It inspired me to rotate luxery treatments and streaming services. Thank you from the Netherlands
Thank you Alyson! We definitely set limits on those things, but have had to be more flexible- especially with groceries because of the rapid increase in costs. 🤯😱😅🌸💕
I am pretty frugal myself. I hardly ever eat out and cook my meals at home! I never go to the movie and when I want to see a movie I wait and rent the DVD! When I charge something, I pay it right off. I work part-time in a department store and don't even have the store card.i very seldom buy any thing there! I agree with everything you suggest!
Not my favorite kind of video but I like the idea about the streaming services. I’ve had Netflix for a few years and sometimes I can’t find anything you to watch. Thank you.
Good video 👍. My habit is have a bowl of lukewarm water mix in dish soap. Use these on my dishes. One time finish up the washing. I do not have a Dish Washer.
Hi Robin, great tips. We are definitely looking at more ways to be frugal. We had thought about downsizing and buying a smaller home but the prices in our area proved to be so crazy we decided to stay where we are. I['ll see what renovations we need to do here. I'd love a new kitchen. In particular a new pantry. I'm going to look into it. Thanks for this video.
Thank you Denise! I know what you mean about the housing prices! I hope that you can make the updates that keep you loving where you are. Sometimes that the best option for sure. 💛🤗💛
Thank you Robin! Your videos are never to be missed. I have used a lot of your tips and they work for my family, you taught me so many things I didn’t know so I am so grateful to you beautiful lady because my life now is so much easier to manage weather it is cleaning, cooking, and most of all you taught me to take the time to read the Bible. May God bless you and your family.🇦🇺🦘💖💜💓
An easy place to start is just by saving all your receipts (and then I record my spending). A lot of places don't automatically hand you a receipt any more, so I just ask for it, and they always give it to you. I never thought about rotating thru premium subscriptions. I'll have to look into that. Keep it coming with the frugal tips! We need them now more than ever!
Absolutely Ann! I can’t imagine not entering all of the receipts to know where the money goes. It’s amazing how many people don’t think to do that. 🙈 😂🌸💕
This is funny, because after church today we went to Costco to shop, do to other things happening this week. I'm proud to say we were right at $400.00 and it has been a little over a month since we have been there. What we did get was just on sale items to replenish our back stock that we use most often. I think watching sale is a good place to start building up your items and know when they rotate to go on sale. Another is your water bill, plant less watering type plants and like you said laundry, washing dishes. Electric bill turn your Ac up one notch or turn down you furnace and wear heavy cloths or a sweater , turn off lights that you do not use, stock your freezer, they say the more you have in them the less likely they are on and off all the time to keep cold. You are right the better the clothes are the longer they last. My splurge for my self is a manicure and pedicure once a month and every other month I shop for Cross Stitch and threads. My husband says a well maintain car the longer it will last, and plan your trips for gas buying times. Like your idea of streaming, we are now into reruns so glad it is time to work out side or CS. Streaming sounds nice, it able you to watch something new or you do not get, will look into that one for sure. You got a new Washer and Dryer I think. I have been drying on hangers for a long time do to that I can not get to the dryer when it go off so no wrinkles. We have a third bathroom we do not use now and I set up dryer racks in them to dry socks, mittens and unmentionables in, till company comes. Like this YT and more will be nice to see. Stay Safe till the next time. Sorry for being so wordy
Another trip for your laundry room is to spin everything on maximum spin to get out as much water as possible from your clothes/towels, and also give an extra spin only spin, this can sometimes cut drying time in half, (all washing machines have a spin only option its just a matter of finding it, or finding out how to activate, )
These are great tips Faith. My hubby actually watched with me. He said “she is a wise woman”. Thought you’d get a chuckle out of that. Thank you for sharing! 😊
Great video! I just found your channel today. I already implement many of these suggestions and they definitely help me to manage my income most effectively.
You are so right about hotel vacations. Too expensive, if you spend the whole day at the beach and away from the hotel. I rented a chalet in Lueneburger Heide/ Hannover for our summer vacation in September. I can cook my own meals for the family, which saves additional money.
This video was full of wisdom. The rotating streaming subscriptions tip stopped me in my tracks. Mind blown! 😮 Super insights today. Thanks as always, Robin! 👏
Great tips. We mostly watch UA-cam. I replay all of my video games that I play to completion. I'm subscribed to emails that have links to free digital books.
Excellent & helpful video, Robin! You had so many great tips. I would say that the most helpful thing that we have done over the years is to carefully track every penny. It allows you to catch overcharges or refunds, see where you are spending more than you'd like to spend, and allocate your money in the way that you best want to use it. Twice a month my husband and I sit down and review the budget together which helps us to stay on track and to meet the financial goals that we have set. It becomes a habit over time and doesn't take very long to do. And it's great to talk those things through as a married couple so that you feel like a team as you work toward your financial goals. One year I kept a "found money" fund where I would put any unplanned money that came in. It might be very small like a grocery rebate or bigger like an insurance refund. Either way, I transferred the money to my little fund and we were so surprised when there were several thousand dollars in it at the end of the year. Those things would have just been absorbed into our spending but now we had this fun little slush fund of unexpected money.
Great tips. I've been really watching what I waste in food. As I have several teens they are picky and trying to accommodate each one costs to much. Also their want of chips and soda. So we have cut those to 1 special day where they can get 1 bag of their favorite kind and it's up to them to make it last more than 1 sitting. Also I do meatless meals that are healthy. Once or twice during the week. Thank you Robin for these other tips.
As I said on your Fb post, I would LOVE for all of us to add comments of how we save. New housewives may not realize to shut all the blinds or curtains, during the day, to help “insulate” the windows and keep the home cooler/warmer. If you will be home, just open the curtains in the room you’re in, if desired. I would LOVE for you to do more videos like this. God bless you.
In this age of consumerism, it’s a deliberate choice to learn to be more frugal. You gave many great examples, thank you! Even before Covid and an economy suffering from inflation, we smuggled our own snacks and even drinks into the theater. The markup on everything the sell there is how they make a lot of their revenue.
ok, another way to save money is to cut the cable companies, buy the Rukku or other devices which wouldn't charge monthly services fees , also another will save money is to if not us small appliances unplug it and will lower electric bills , in my opinion having swimming pool is a big expensive therefore if it was me would removal pool completely (cut costly maintenances and also combine water bill and electric bill too ) , am an almost vegetarian therefore no meat - ve-rrrrry expensive, although veggies can be expensive too but can put into freezer , bottom line is don't go overboard with money spend , remember this is only my opinion
Great video...we follow most of the things . I just have to cut down on my laundry...I do way too many loads 🤔🤔🤔..But I can definitely get more frugal...thanks Robin
Good morning! Your hair looks so nice. My color is similar to yours. I was wondering what shampoo and conditioner you use? It looks so smooth and shiny. Mine grays tend to be frizzy. Thanks!
Good morning Julianne! I use Function of Beauty shampoo and conditioner. I know what you mean - I have grays that definitely have a mind of their own. 😂🌸💕
I was able to get out of debt last year. only have a mortgage but reduced the monthly payments significantly through refinancing. my home is an investment for my retirement so I don't plan to downsize even though it's much more space than I need. it's comfortable and completely furnished. 😌 I'm grateful!
Hi Robin, We recently sold our larger home and downsized. Our kids have left the nest and felt it was time for a change. I was sad to leave the house we built, but I have to say taking care of a smaller home is nice. The cleaning and yard work don’t take nearly the time it use to. Thank you for another helpful video.🙂
...continued Gas points were not added to the items noted for "fuel saver" program. Self check out isn't great but finding errors is. Who can keep track of what the cashiers are ringing up? Write your list out, keep track and feel more involved.
Drink water is probably the best one on here for my family. We spend so much money on drinks. Plus they are just SO bad for us. Now the problem... actually doing it. Heh
💛Robin
I just eat before I go and then I'm not hungry.
the theaters in our area allow it so i think it is a great tip!
Your hair looks beautiful long
I loved that suggestion 😂
Honoring God thru tithing and giving is being a good steward and goes with this topic I believe.
Absolutely Linda! 💯% 🙏😊💕
Great video. We, as a family, do these already. My husband's work is so unpredictable, so it can be tight, but other than that, I don't have a desire for most of the things you've mentioned. I’m so glad that God gave you a beautiful garden to replace the one you planned. That’s a wonderful testimony! 🙏😊🌸💕
Check out some gardening tiktok videos and YT. There are a lot of ways you can recycle seeds from plants you already have.
What a beautiful testament to your faith in God. 🇨🇮🙏❤️
You can save the seeds from most flowers , I o this every year , and then swap some with my neighbours
@@ladycake5177 That's a lovely idea :) I think some of the birds brought some by as well.
Thanks to remote work, we haven't spent any money on gas for 6 months..so thankful! ☺
The way I wash dishes, put the plug in. Rinse into the soap sink, but turn the water off between items. If doing a lot, when the soap sink is getting full, put the plug in the other sink for rinsing, or use a wash tub.
Cycling through the streaming services is your best suggestion, for me. Thank you! 🙂
I air dry my clothes in my bathroom on my shower curtain rod. I use my dryer for my towels and bedding.
I love frugal or zero waste videos. Thanks for sharing!
Me too Lisa! Thank you! 😊🌸💕
One thing I can say from watching your channel for several years is that you lead by example. You have an incredible gift for showing us, not just how to be frugal, but frugal AND classy. I love that combination. It's very inspiring!♥️🇨🇦

Would love to see how you’re handling your FlyLady zones in the new house. 🙂

Aww! Thank you Eileen! I’m so happy to be a part of your Sundays! God bless! 😊🌸💕

Rotating through streaming services is genius! Why did I never think of that?!
👍😄🌸💕
Thanks! I'd love to see a video on fun ways to travel economically. I do many of these already, but there are always ways to improve. Thanks for considering.
timely video, thanks. Gas in California is over $6/gal, so it is painful.
Wow Michelle! 🤯 Gas isn’t that high here yet, but that combined with the rising grocery prices is hard!
😅🌸💕
Excellent video. Lots of great ideas on here that i haven't heard before. Thanks!

I agree completely Melissa! I had to learn this too - not necessarily frugal by nature. 🙈😂🌸💕
Hello dear, looking good on your profile
Great idea on the streaming services Robin.
Thank you Olive! 😊🌸💕
What is the little cloth sachet you use with your dryer balls? Thanks so much.
Thank you for this very important video. I have been following you for 2 years now and can say that you lead by example. Lots of love, Miriam ☀️

Great video. I would love to see more videos about being frugal. Do you set a clothing budget each season? And do you have a monthly food budget.
Thank you Alyson! We definitely set limits on those things, but have had to be more flexible- especially with groceries because of the rapid increase in costs. 🤯😱😅🌸💕

Thank you Deborah! 😊🌸💕
Good video 👍.
My habit is have a bowl of lukewarm water mix in dish soap.
Use these on my dishes.
One time finish up the washing.
I do not have a Dish Washer.
Excellent tip Choo Lee! Thank you!

Thank you so much Maggy! 😊🌸💕
Thanks for this Robin great video some really good tips here 😍 Is love to see more of this please x
Thank you Patricia! 😊🌸💕
Dryer balls are healthier I think. Hey what the flower pack you put the dryer with the dryer balls?
Excellent tips Ginger! I love them all!
👍😊🌸💕
Another trip for your laundry room is to spin everything on maximum spin to get out as much water as possible from your clothes/towels, and also give an extra spin only spin, this can sometimes cut drying time in half, (all washing machines have a spin only option its just a matter of finding it, or finding out how to activate, )
I really enjoy your videos I have learned so much. I do wash dishes like you showed but I need to get some gloves,
Great tips. Thank you.
Thank you Patricia! 😊🌸💕
These are great tips Faith. My hubby actually watched with me. He said “she is a wise woman”. Thought you’d get a chuckle out of that. Thank you for sharing! 😊
Thank you Lisset and you husband as well! 😉😄🌸💕
This is one of your very best Robin. So much information.
I learned so much. Ty for sharing all this great advice. Be blessed
Thank you Carol! God bless!

Great video 🙏 Thank you as always ❤️🇬🇧
Thank you Alicia! 😊🌸💕
This video was full of wisdom. The rotating streaming subscriptions tip stopped me in my tracks. Mind blown! 😮 Super insights today. Thanks as always, Robin! 👏
Thank you Ginnette! I’m so happy that you liked that one.
😊🌸💕
Excellent tips! ❤💙
Thank you Becky! 😊🌸💕
Great tips. We mostly watch UA-cam. I replay all of my video games that I play to completion. I'm subscribed to emails that have links to free digital books.
Great ideas Jean! 👍😊🌸💕
Wonderful Elise! I love it! 👍👏🤩💕
Way to go.
Excellent Melissa! I love that! 👍😊🌸💕
That’s a great idea Connie! Thank you! 😊🌸💕
Thank you for a very informative video. 😎
Thank you Peggy! 😊🌸💕
Absolutely Steph! 😱💰😄💕
Beautiful video.
ok, another way to save money is to cut the cable companies, buy the Rukku or other devices which wouldn't charge monthly services fees , also another will save money is to if not us small appliances unplug it and will lower electric bills , in my opinion having swimming pool is a big expensive therefore if it was me would removal pool completely (cut costly maintenances and also combine water bill and electric bill too ) , am an almost vegetarian therefore no meat - ve-rrrrry expensive, although veggies can be expensive too but can put into freezer , bottom line is don't go overboard with money spend , remember this is only my opinion
Votre vidéo est super intéressante et je suis d'accord 100 % avec votre façon de penser. Bonne semaine.
Thank you! 😊🌸💕
Great and thanks.
Thank you Sharon! 😊🌸💕
Great video...we follow most of the things . I just have to cut down on my laundry...I do way too many loads 🤔🤔🤔..But I can definitely get more frugal...thanks Robin
Thank you Nina! 😊🌸💕
Love you tips. Thank you for sharing :) I want to start a series on frugality
Thank you Kimberly! Go for it!
👍😊🌸💕
Great tips. Have a great week
Thank you Judy! 😊🌸💕
Great tips. I do a lot of these but I’m guilty of skipping some. I try to skip the tollway but my car has a mind of its own. 😂
Thank you Darlene! 😂🌸💕
That’s right! I should have remembered that. Have a nice day!
I was able to get out of debt last year. only have a mortgage but reduced the monthly payments significantly through refinancing. my home is an investment for my retirement so I don't plan to downsize even though it's much more space than I need. it's comfortable and completely furnished. 😌 I'm grateful!
Robin - great job! Loved the ideas and very helpful! Can I ask what editing do you use for your videos? Thanks so much! Have a blessed week also!
Thank you! I use iMovie that came free with my Mac. 😄🌸💕
@@FaithandFlour Thanks!
Hi Robin,
We recently sold our larger home and downsized. Our kids have left the nest and felt it was time for a change. I was sad to leave the house we built, but I have to say taking care of a smaller home is nice. The cleaning and yard work don’t take nearly the time it use to. Thank you for another helpful video.🙂
Thank you Amanda! Each move has been a little bittersweet, but we have realized that we are so much happier with less. 😊🌸💕

Gas points were not added to the items noted for "fuel saver" program. Self check out isn't great but finding errors is. Who can keep track of what the cashiers are ringing up? Write your list out, keep track and feel more involved.
Wonderful tips!
Thank you Jane! 🌸💕😊
@@FaithandFlour you’re welcome!
Drink water is probably the best one on here for my family. We spend so much money on drinks. Plus they are just SO bad for us. Now the problem... actually doing it. Heh
We save it just for weekends - it’s easier than eliminating them entirely.
😊🌸💕
I appreciate your channel very much.... it brings such a balanced and realistic, as well as happy way to live!
Thank you! 😊🌸💕
