    lol, you really need to listen to more Seventeen. Because, yes ok, the three tracks you have listened to are of a similar vibe, but they really do move around a huge amount musically. SVT are pretty much free to do what they want, [especially now, they are massive] and have generally done their own thing, and that has, more often than not, been out of step with most of the kpop industry. They just released a best of album with 30+ tracks on it [4 of which are new]. Their discography is actually crazy varied.

    I'd say I agree to a certain extent with the music being the same in the industry recently however this MV was more to showcase how us as a society we are loosing to AI and how it is even taking over our music and because of this there was a bit at the end where a question pops up right after you paused which asked "who is the real maestro?". Also the fact that most of this song had samples from previous seventeen songs mixed in it like at the start it was their debut title sampled in. and regarding the rest of the album I think you'd like LALALI the hip hop unit song.

  • @Loulou-gm2nu
    @Loulou-gm2nu 22 дні тому +42

    You really need to check out songs like fear and getting closer. They're more your style of music. The thing with seventeen is they really don't stick to one style of music. Every comeback is different. So if you're looking for something specific, it won't all be for you.

  • @atozatiny
    @atozatiny 22 дні тому +50

    Kpop has had " na na na" and "la la la" in their songs since the 90's. no, its not creative but to hate on a song bc it has it, then the whole genre should be criticized. Title tracks are supposed to appease the masses. B-Sides are where it's at where their actual more experimental sounds are.

    • @marcidorman
      @marcidorman 22 дні тому +7

      I do think you and he are saying the same thing, actually-
      his criticism is basically that the K-pop genre as a whole often has a lot of formulaic parts to it. and his preference is to see it break from that formula more. He acknowledges that title tracks are usually the most formulaic since they need to appeal to the masses, rather than be polarizing. Pop music (from anywhere) is often more formulaic-that’s what makes it pop/“popular”. I’m a huge fan of seventeen and feel like they break away from the formula more than most, but I can understand where he’s coming from. I doubt SVT is allowed the freedom to do exactly what they want with their music as much as they’d probably like to (especially Woozi). That being said, I do hope this guy expands his understanding of what K-pop, has to offer-Seventeen in particular. The more of their music you hear, the more you realize that actually are very diverse-which I think is true of K-pop in general. The more you listen to a variety of K-pop, the more diversity you can find (although his complaint isn’t inaccurate, either).

  • @karinaromeroandino253

    I understand what you're saying, maybe listening to more Seventeen would make you understand how this is very different from what they're used to doing. I would recommend listening to the hip hop unit's songs, i think they would fit your vibe and what you like. Lalali is the one from this album and has an mv, i think you would like it.

  • @emanj1766
    @emanj1766 22 дні тому +31

    Tbh I agree that in general K-pop comebacks always focus on having a very strong concept and overwhelming ideas in the mv, but I don’t agree that K-pop in general have issues of being boring, maybe sometimes repetitive considering the groups set ups, using catchy words or repetitive words can be agreed on or using scenes like group dancing and individual scenes which kinda a must in a group setup, music itself nowadays is kinda of versions updates from older music, since we reached a position were nothing is original, no matter how the music is arranged it sounds like something from before, no matter how the lyrics is unique it’s still have similarities to another form of writing and music genres are already defined, hiphop, rock, ballad etc
    So I don’t actually understand what people expect from artists when they say it’s not original , if we are being fully honest except for some Arabic music that have pottery lyrics meaning heavy on words, all music nowadays is over stimulating, we forgot that simple is way better than hyped!
    I personally have stopped listening to western music since lyrics wise are weird, music production is not adding anything new, the best era was 2010, since then I switched to K-pop, until now it has been along with Japanese music the most creative, would it last for another 10 years,I don’t know!

    • @TeddyGreyOS
      @TeddyGreyOS  22 дні тому +12

      I think you're right and that was kinda my point, it's only within these group setups that things start to seem samey after a while. Not K-Pop as a whole, I definitely misspoke there 😂 And I haven't taken a deep enough Seventeen journey to be able to seriously comment on the repetition. But one of my songs of the year so far was "Dean - Die For You", so i still try to look for simplicity more than the overstimulating stuff! I'm gonna check out the other tracks from the album anyway and I'm sure I'll find a banger - as is always the case!!

    • @emanj1766
      @emanj1766 21 день тому +1

      @@TeddyGreyOS yeah I got what you mean, probably you would like individual artists more then, since their music is less influenced by performance (dance) fitting concepts, as for groups the main songs would be produced to serve the purpose of being suitable for an MV, and performance to be specific , but B sides usually are not produced for this purpose
      Personally I recently got into seventeen, they have amazing voices, their Bsides and more vocal focused songs are very good, I think you might like that more

    Can I just say, Carats are a very respectful fandom, we appreciate everyone who reacts to Seventeen and even if it’s not to their liking we will suggest something they would like instead because they are that diverse, they have always done music they like and think we carats would love, they don’t follow the “current trends”
    Fear, Getting closer, call call, Hit, Good to Me, Shadow and the Hip hop unit’s new song Lalai you might like!

  • @alera27
    @alera27 22 дні тому +32

    Always loves your SB19 reactions as an A'tin, but as a Carat this felt a bit saddening to watch. I feel like you just really have not listened or watched much Seventeen to tell what makes them different, and you yourself said you've only listened to three, and the ones you've mentioned have a stronger vibe than their other songs. SVT, out of most groups I've listened to, actually try out the most genres. Their last few comebacks are actually different sounding too, Super and F*ck my Life were two completely genres, and God of Music was more upbeat and bright, this one is also completely different and out of the box with the usual way of composing a song because it felt like different sections stitched into one song.

  • @SaKaBi0

    Does SVT follow a formula? Yes and no, i'd say. Yes as in since FML they found something which seem to appeal to a broader audience, since they've got a lot of recognition for that mini album. And No because i see it not so much as a formula than creating a style that instantly can be recognized as SVT(a rebranding basically). For example super and god of music are really similar in fashion and might have been so for branding reasons in part. Does Maestro follow that established "formula" or brand, well not quite like in the last two mini albums. Is Maestro some sort of comment about the direction the company might have given? I highly doubt it.
    Up until maestro, the most experimental tracks were from the rap unit. So Maestro feels more rap unit centred instead as before on the vocal unit. It might also just be a crazy experiment honestly (had to do an Edit: experiment cause AI has been involved in the making of the MV at least...). Do i like Maestro, strangely yes and i don't like techno at all. Have i warmed up to the other three new songs...eeh not quite. Will i? At least one has the potential. Do i like SVT as a group tough? Yes, they are my 2nd most listend to Kpop Group!! Would i like for Teddy to react to a few more of their songs, yes. Kidult, Monster, Light a Flame, Aju Nice and Call Call Call (this one just for the heck of it XD) are the ones that come to my mind.

    • @sadsadie1794
      @sadsadie1794 22 дні тому +3

      There was no AI involved in the making of the video.
      It was used only on teaser 1 for maestro.

    • @sadsadie1794
      @sadsadie1794 22 дні тому +6

      Kinda shocked, never thought i would see someone to say "Super and GOM is similar in fashion!!".
      Also SVT had song which appealed broader audience before Super(FML).
      Song like Aju nice, Dwc, L&R, Hot, Rwy exist.
      I would suggest you to watch the live commentary session woozi had yesterday, if you have time. You will get to know how he comes up with idea of making music, He mentioned behind the story of making Super and other songs. I can assure you that he made those songs with outmost sincerity, love for his work and members, not by following certain formula which might appeal boarder audience. ❤❤❤

    I´M 90% agree with your reaction, the kpop to me it´s pretty damn stuck in the same formula. That´s why many took the "copy agenda" when they see new groups that are debuting with tiny similituds with other successfull groups.
    In some time every male group whos been debuted wanted to be a EXO or BTS copy, but there´s no many or even anyone who success in the progress.
    This MV in particular by the end some way remind me to many of the STRAY KIDS MV´s style, that have been very similar one after the other lately

    I think its moreso to do with the style of music you express interest in. Right now kpop is moving into its fifth generation with groups such as Riize and BoyNextDoor, whos music, videos and vibes are extremely different to the vidoes you've been reacting too, and representing the current evolutionary trajectory of kpop- also seen in God of Music by svt imo. This is obviously completely understandable as you like what you like, but its interesting to keep in mind that developing genres and styles might just not be to your taste, hence not seeing it.

    I liked your reaction and I agree with you in some extent. Maestro was their ‘anthology’ and they used mixtapes from previous songs in this that’s why it seems similar to what they put out before but nevertheless I think it’s something that is ahead of its time and that ripens with age and grows on you. The more I listen to it the more I like but at the same time I understand why someone may don’t like it. And also, yeah their company sucks big time. The member and producer of their songs (Woozi) gave an interview and well he implied that their hands are tied by the company and their artistry can’t be used in full length and yeah Free Palestine and f Hybe and Bang SH

    As a big Seventeen fan and someone who loves Maestro, I like your criticism a lot. What you say makes a lot of sense, and I'm glad you really liked the ending bit of the song.
    Their other 3 new songs are getting music videos this month!! I think you'll really like Lalali in particular but you may want to wait until the videos are out to give them a listen.

    im a seventeen fan since 2021 but i think ur oppinion is really unique and not like other ones where people say "i like the song" and thats it. Kpop fans in general are so toxic, but i bet if seventeen sees this they would enjoy it or just be agree. Guys just accept the fact that kpop is a genre like anyother and not bc of that u need to get offended by everything they say abt ur fav group. Be mature please!

    Hype doesn't have a formula to their groups like bts, txt , newjeans and le sserafim don't sound like each other especially bts in their own they did every type of new music as title track the thing is seventeen are self produced even before they joined hype they have a sound and formula they stick with it for the group dynamic and hype pretty much do good music with trendy sound not like the others companies .

But no worries no hard feelings, now you will have tons more subscribers , next reaction maybe you can scream: Free the hostages??? Nahhaaa you won't do it and either way I won't be here to watch, AM ISRAEL HAI!!!

    The concept of the song and video have to do with AI. How everyone seems to be on board with it but who is really in control. Who really is the MAESTRO.

    I'm just gonna say it. This song is pretty mid. If it wasn't Seventeen who put this song out, it would have been entirely ignored by the GP in Korea. The lalalala chorus was so empty and uncreative. Seventeen is that one group I really want to get into but these recent comebacks have not done it for me. God of Music was disappointing too, very high school musical. Fuck it, I blame HYBE cos I'm sure Woozi can do better than this.

    Ngl.. you say it sounds the same and you’re not lying, K-pop is very repetitive and loud. That’s why Army’s fight hard for BTS to be recognized by new people, you don’t get a lot of this sound with them. Can’t wait for you to dive deep into them.

    • @thatss0laura

      seventeen actually have a pretty diverse discography and a crazy range as well! not that there's anything wrong with this kind of loud music either. but I also second checking out more bts, they're obviously at the top for very good reasons :)

      Well, my fellow "CARAT" are we listening to the same SVT!!! CZ there is no way Rwy, Hot, _World, Super, GOM, and Maestro sounds the SAME!!!!.
      And of course you can promote your ULT, but do that w/o kinda SHADING the other group STAN.

      @@erikacannady1469 I seem to recall some repetiveness in some of BTS tracks as well. there is nothing wrong with it it will happen from time to time but to shade one group for it just because they are not your ult when your ult is doing the same thing is kind of B.S.

    Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. I am surprised u don't like it. But on the other hand u hear a lot of music like this. Kinda gave me Stray Kids vibes actually. Liked the fits and makeup. Loved seeing Woozi play the piano. It's a good song. Interesting mix. U might like Fear it's a dark song too. I do like their older stuff better because it's more my vibe. I did not see any teasers. Good song name. For sure dark theme. Got a feeling of them vs. AI. They just released a best of album with 30+ tracks on it [4 of which are new]. Hugs. - -2019 ARMY NY USA 💜
    P.S. Speak of the Devil. Hoshi starts us off even though he not singing. =0p
    @littlemissfahema said on 4/29/24
    The concept is very much Seventeen vs AI.. they’re showing that in this day and age you can use as much as AI as possible but they will never be better than the real. SEVENTEEN are the maestro. They produce, conduct, choreograph, write, compose and AI will act according to their command.
    Also the whole “moving too fast comment”.. the music video is glitching a lot bc AI in a way is trying to overthrown seventeen by trying to get rid of them. If you look at Joshi scene at the end he’s in the centre while AI is moving in circles. Showcasing that they’re not listening to him; the maestro. But the whole MV is like a grand concept of svt utilising AI to let everyone know SVT are the maestro. AI will never be better than them. Well that’s what I got from the mv.
    @peachakus said on 4/29/24
