I had no idea Mobile was a town in Alabama. All of a sudden the song "Stuck inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues again" by Dylan makes way more sense! Always nice to hear the historical background of the shanty before you sing them, Sean!
Yeah, I pretty important shipping port back in the day. Then a big industrial centre during WW2. And the accent is really lovely there too. Especially if you hear someone really old.

For what it’s worth, some good did come from the mishap. I’ve had a few fellow shanty lovers try and tell me that the official albums for streaming were just copied and pasted from the soundtrack in-game. I show them specifically the distinction of the line with “hard earned pay” to show that they were separate recordings.
Indeed. I'm not allowed to sell the Ubisoft versions as they don't belong to me. Everything is re-recorded, usually in completely new vocal arrangements.

Interesting tidbit about the Mobile pipeline. So, if I understand it correctly, land-born work songs - likely sung by slave laborers - were converted to shanties and spread around the world? If so, it makes sense that generations later in port towns like Kingston and Liverpool came catchy songs from the likes of Bob Marley and the Beatles. Perhaps the tunes from the local shipyards inspired them!
Might be a bad idea but I thought of another series you could make. I was thinking that maybe you could turn non-shanties into shanties somehow. Again, it's just a vague idea I thought about. Great shanty btw, one of my favourites so far.

What I am wondering is that are we referring to ladies as females or ladies as a group of lads. Because with one your saying good morning to the sailors, which is see as a "wake up, we are leaving" but then if your saying good morning to the females your saying hi as you arrive in the port that you are singing about.

I got all the notes naturally. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. They're pretty quiet, though. I have to boost their volume quite a bit.
